Let’s not linger on the fact that I skipped last week’s devblog. I have been under the weather most of last week and just didn’t have any strength to write it. There wasn’t much to say anyway. Now this week is a completely different beast altogether. Let’s unpack all that has happened.

First of all, it is time to tally up the votes for the next girl we are going to focus on. After a very strong start, Bassant unsurprisingly took first place with 27 weighted votes. I didn’t really think that she would be that popular, but after the first initial burst of votes she clearly defined herself as the favorite of this race. The second place, now that was a surprise. It wasn’t Aisling. It wasn’t even Gwen. And not even Lily. The strong second place with 21 weighted votes was taken by Katelyn — that was a very pleasant surprise! I have already started writing the events for Bassant, and I think that Katelyn is next in line. I have some ideas for her, and I think her being generally not that popular was actually holding me back from sitting down and actually writing them.

Secondly, I am still working on figuring out all the nuts and bolts of how the stat deterioration lightening items will work, but I think I am 99% there, and if Shady Two provides the icons for them, they might be coming as soon as the next update. But more importantly, while trying to figure out all the items and interactions to make them a little more interesting, I came up with a way to implement another two of my ideas into the game at the same time. Yes, I found a way to put a familiar into the game without breaking the narrative and in-game logic. It will not be what most of you would be expecting, but I hope that a lot of you will love it.

Lastly, we managed to replicate and fix a bug that was hounding our players for the last two builds. Yes, the elusive “Disappearing stats window” bug should be no more starting with the next build. Thanks to a dedicated player who reported his detailed findings, which allowed me to finally find a way to replicate the bug. And to our faithful programmer, who fixed the bug with no small amount of work. This is the first bug in the game that caused this much trouble and took this much effort to fix, so YAY!

So yeah, some big developments there on top of the usual “some events were written” and “some artworks were progressed”. I will not dedicate any serious amount of space to them here today. Maybe next week.
