a podcast rec!
hi everyone! taking the week off from streaming to spend some time in nature, do some reading, getting my life more neat and tidy etc. but i wanted to start doing more recommendations on my patreon, so i thought i'd start here. i listen to podcasts all the time, especially ones that include analysis of theoretical, historical or other informative/thought-provoking texts, and especially ones that include interviews with really interesting writers, organizers, activists etc. but one group of podcasts that has been a secret weapon of mine is the New Books Network
each episode is a simple, fairly brief interview and discussion with an academic who has just published a book, describing the parameters of the book as well as some thoughts on their own life story
on your chosen podcast app, it will appear as several different podcasts focused on different areas of study (New Books in Indigenous Studies, New Books in History, New Books in Systems & Cybernetics, New Books in Critical Theory etc.) save all of those and just monitor the new episodes to see if any of the book titles and ideas stand out to you!!
one that i was so excited about in particular was in the New Books in Indigenous Studies podcast, an interview with a philosopher named Shyam Ranganathan for his new book "Moral Philosophy and Decolonialism: The Irrationality of Oppression." found this interview so fascinating i had to pick up the book myself and will happily talk to yall about it when i get a chance https://newbooksnetwork.com/moral-philosophy-and-de-colonialism
let me know if u also enjoy this podcast, and let's talk soon!

Definitely going to look into this. Alternatives to reading that have the rigor of published texts are hard to come by.
Commenting as I feel I need to check in from time to time bcs I don't say much. But I'm here, I still watch everything and read your posts ❤️💜
love you moni!
