Patreon for Creators Live: Powering Your Podcast

Earlier this week we went live to talk all things podcasting: how to grow your audience, deepen connection with listeners, and simplify how you publish and share your media. The conversation was hosted by Sona from Patreon's Product Marketing team, alongside Drew (VP of Product) and Michelle (Product Manager). They shared strategies you can put into practice right now, plus a look at what’s coming next.

If you missed it, you can watch the recording above and catch the following highlights:

  • Drew’s biggest takeaways from this year’s Podcast Movement in Dallas — including the shifts he sees ahead for the industry, and how the most successful podcasters are turning casual listeners into core fans. (1:38)

  • How to get the most out of Patreon’s podcast tools to build your audience, strengthen your community, and grow your business. (12:40)

  • A first look at what’s next on our product roadmap, and how we’re shaping future features with podcasters like you in mind. (36:50)

Whether your show is already thriving on Patreon or you’re just getting started, this session was full of insights to help you get more out of the platform — and keep building on your terms.

I'm not sure why I'm struggling to clarify this, but is Patreon usable as an actual podcast host? I currently use Substack, and would love to bring it all over to one platform if possible. So I could integrate free and paid episodes, post only from Patreon, and know that the podcast goes to apple, spotify, etc etc etc. Is this a thing? It seems like it's 'almost' a thing, but not quite 😅

Loving this sharing, thank you. Just a technical reflection, the volume is super low on my phone while watching this. I’m on the Patreon app. Latest version

With this emphasis on using Patreon as a newsletter (in the announcements starting at 37:30), will there be an option to import an existing mailing list? I'd love to move my newsletter fully over to Patreon, but I have a ton of people already on my existing list. Also, are there plans to support an RSS feed of our content? Many of my subscribers prefer to read my posts in an RSS reader. Finally, regarding public RSS feeds for podcasts, this is great news, but I'd like to confirm that, if we move our show hosting fully to Patreon, there will be an option to redirect the feed if we later decide to move hosting elsewhere.

it's so refreshing to be asked what we creators need in a platform! :) I'm not a podcaster, so I'm not seeing much use for the tools added here for me, but I'm going to check out the Collections on your page to see if there's any tips for illustrators like me :3 I wish the live chat was visible on the live steam replays here on Patreon 🥹

Can you stream to Patreon and other platforms at the same time?

A
Aaron Ross Powell · August 30, 2025

Yes. It's one of the options when setting up a stream. You can use your own streaming source, and then give Patreon access to that, such as via OBS.

I was just talking to a friend and she said she is starting to migrate to Patreon to support her favorite podcasters instead of Spotify so this is right on time. I'm excited to start mine!
