Podcaster Lara Schoenhals on simplifying her tiers and overdelivering

"What do I want from podcasts that I love?" Podcaster Lara Schoenhals of Sexy Unique Podcast asked herself this question when figuring out what she wanted to offer her members on Patreon.

And when her initial setup of "way too many tiers" turned out to be unsustainable, she asked another question: How do I underpromise and overdeliver? Lara shares how simplifying allowed her to give very clear value to members who love her work.

Hi Fruit Vendor - I very much appreciate your kind words of encouragement. In truth I feel overwhelmed posting on both Patreon and Declan Higgins - YouTube Channel which I also run by myself. I have seen similar videos of people on You tube feeling anxious trying to keep up with constantly posting and making videos while also being busy in their personal life. Will check out your Patreon Page. Again thanks for your support very much appreciated.

I completely agree simplifying everything is better. I only offer one tier now for $3.90 per month, Have 2 free members however no paid ones unfortunately after 9 months of hard work. Really do not know if it is worth continuing.

Hey Declan - it's worth it man. I have a very small membership that peaked in 2021 - and my strategy was to DM fans and ask them to join up. I also had multiple tiers like the creator above, but reduced them to 3: $5, $10 and up. I think reaching out to my supporters directly made a heck of a difference and although I'm in the proceed of ideating a relaunch of my Patreon page, this truth remains the same - your audience wants to be seen and recognized by you - so I'd say reach out directly and don't be afraid to ask for the pledge. A great book on this is Amanda Palmer's "The Art of Asking" - I've read it at least 3 times.
