Finally, the perfect gift

Every year around this time, you tell us there’s one thing at the top of your wish list. This year, we’re finally checking it off. Just in time for the holiday boost (aka when many creators naturally see membership growth), we’re introducing membership gifting and discounts.

Your fans can gift paid memberships to their friends, family, and fellow fans — no more shipping delays or wrapping mishaps. And you can add to the holiday spirit by giving complimentary memberships to new members. 

Here’s how it all works: 

Fans can give the gift of creativity 

Paying members tell us they’re most interested in giving someone in their lives a membership to a creator they already know, love, and subscribe to themselves. So for them, membership isn’t just a thoughtful gift. It’s also a way to share great creative work and community with their favorite people. 

To give a gift, all fans have to do is select a gift period of anywhere from one month to one year, add a customized message, and share a redemption link with their recipient when they’re ready. 

Gifts can be redeemed by anyone who isn’t already a paying member, so it’s a great way for your members to introduce people to your Patreon community, or upgrade their experience from free member to paid. 

How to encourage fans to give a gift

• Share your unique gift page with members in an all-member post: Paid members are your biggest fans, and most eager to share your work with people they think would love it. 

• Share your unique gift page on social media, in your newsletter, or mention it in your podcast: It’s a great way to promote your page to followers looking for a thoughtful, easy-to-send gift for a loved one with similar interests. 

Make your message personal by adding a line or two about what makes your Patreon membership a unique gift, and/or how giving someone a gifted membership this season supports your creative freedom. Fans of All Ages creators on subscription billing can start gifting today, with access for fans of Adult/18+ creators on subscription billing coming by the end of this month. 

You can also gift your membership to fans

You can join in on the gifting too by giving new fans (including free and canceled members) exclusive access to your membership for free. It’s a great way to expand your community, surprise loyal fans who aren’t yet members, or thank collaborators. 

You can choose to gift anywhere from one month to one year of membership and generate a unique gift page that up to 1,000 fans can redeem.

For even more ways to grow, you can also incentivize fans and free members to become paying members with membership discounts. By setting up a limited-time holiday sale for all visitors or rewarding specific groups with discount codes, you can give fans a way to join your community at a more accessible price.
