Potato Draft
Which are the best types of potatoes? Which potato should be number 1? AN EGG are rooting around in the dirt for the best potato types. This certainly shouldn't lead to a bunch of arguments, right? Let us know who know. Vote in the poll on Patreon. Let us know what you'd draft.

We got some potato not potatoes in this potato draft
I’m on my way to order French fries right now. Best draft.
Eric picking sweet potato is like if the first pick was ‘potato’
I want it noted to Andrew that a tater tot is a form of hashbrown, it is literally a hashbrown nugget. If you look at a tater tot and think thats my favorite type of french fry, you are a literal lunatic/lacking in basic knowledge (I wont call you stupid Andrew, youre just uninformed)
French fry is a TYPE of fry, and i have ordered it many times
I’m only twenty minutes in and I’m so mad. French Fries is way too broad. You could have an entire draft of just French fry cuts
Is there no poll for this one?? I can't find one
Watching this has shown me that I am merely a novice in potatoes. Had to google most of these 😂
The French fry argument reminded me of a pickle argument I had, When you think pickle you think pickled cucumber but people call it a pickle cause its the best at it. SO when you think French fry most people think bog standard straight cut fries, everything else has its specific name.
From the very start I’m with Andrew about tater tots. Will see the rest of the picks
how is this the most insane one....11 mins in and discussing the most popular , regulation type bog standard picks for any human ever. family feuds number one and two answers type shit
When the french fries debate poll came out a while ago, I had no idea I was siding with Andrew. Don’t agree that tater tot is a kind of fry, but french fries is a general term. That being said, I absolutely agree with Gavin and Eric that french fries and potato chips are absolutely legitimate picks and deserve to be 1 and 2
I kinda got where Andrew was coming from with French Fries; didn’t agree but I understood. Then he started saying that different flavours of crisps could be drafted separately and I was just like “he’s lost the plot”
Eric how fucking dare you. Sweet Potatoes aren’t fucking potatoes at all.
How is this the craziest draft they've ever done
Eric spends too much time around wrestling. Does he realise the podcast doesnt need a heel?
Not getting talked about enough that with Nicks first two picks, he himself says he never has them. Insane
God dammit andrew everyone calls them French fries every fucken body they are French fries eric is 100% right here Also andrew you can not argue mash potato is bad cause it needs stuff added then turn around and say baked potatoes are good due to the accessories and that potato chips are difrent based on flavors Eric 100% would not have chosen sweet potato if andrew hadnt argued so much about French fries guaranteed and sweet potato is a potato its in the damn name and is 100% a valid pick Andrew you dont get to bring up the spirit of this shit and try and deflect with the movie draft you cant change sides as it pleases you ffs
Hey everyone. I'm in New Zealand and our winery tour guide just said "shoestring fries." Just stating this for the record as someone who definitely has also never heard this before.
2 comments for this one. 1. I have never in the history of listening to this show been so far away from Andrews statement. People say french fries all the time. 2. Sweet potato is a yam. Not a potato. 3. Amazing sup content. Please keep drafts like this coming.
F*ckface regulation listener here finally becoming a comment leaver. Eric is INSANE for picking “sweet”
As a Canadian, it is called shoestring cut fries or straight cut. When I order at McDonald’s, on the screen it just says fries, and I’ve never ordered French fries, always just said fries. The pic that Geoff showed is a type of chips here called hickory sticks.
The escalator of the kitchen has to be eggs. I've had so many omelette attempts turn into a perfectly acceptable scramble.
Pancake....Pancake!.....FUCKING PANCAKE! A pancake you can fuck up a number of different ways and still have it be good and this does include crepes....JFC hahaha
Eric’s right but he’s wrong. Sweet potato is a “type” of potato, but it’s also just not in the potato family.
I would’ve taken Tater Tot too because it’s unique and top tier imo. There’s multiple types of French fry that can contend with each other. A straight cut fry versus a julienne cut isn’t much different. Also Gavin absolutely admitted Andrew was right when he said “you’re gonna pick my picks” which was Andrew’s whole point. He said French Fry is too encompassing of a pick to be a pick. Eric meanwhile was insane when saying it’s a specific cut. Edit: got to the potato chip pick and Andrew is absolutely insane here. Nick is right but Andrew saying the flavor makes it different is so wrong. The style of chip makes it different not the flavor. Edit 2 sweet potato boogaloo: Insane that Eric gets out voted and still continues to argue into them all changing their vote. They literally all said it shouldn’t count and then he complained and made them vote again and feel bad so they gave him the pick. Insane.
Just got to potato chip and really was not expecting this to be such a contentious draft. Love all of it
Regarding the sweet potato, according to Google “Despite their similar names and underground growth, they are completely different plants that belong to separate botanical families:”
Andrew finally did it, he is so wrong about the French fries that I’m giving up my regulation listener status of 6 years and becoming a comment leaver. I worked at McDonalds for 3 years the amount of people that would ask for French fries far exceeds the amount of people that say just fries. So Andrew when you go and order your “fries” just know they are judging you for being wrong.
Andrew is always 100%ly wrong when it comes to the French fry argument. He only cares about the technical argument of shipment name....
This draft should have been called potato preparations. By definition sweet potato is a type of potato but that’s apparently not what they were going for.
Andrews opinions on Gavin and Eric's first picks are insane but Erics third pick is also insane. Completely unhinged.
I’d say callings them French fries or just fries is regional
Never expected this to be a Golden Sup nomination. One of the best drafts so far next to Bird not Bird
This is the best, absolutely unhingded draft possible. I totally love tater tots and would choose them over fries. Geoff nailed it, I'm on Long Island lol. Definitely would've gone with all Nick's choices and his number 1 is my favorite. I think Eric was just poking the bear the whole time and loved every second of this draft.
if geoff or andrew picked french fry first there is no world where they get mashed and tater tot late second round those were strategic picks
If potato bun is ok, pierogi should have been ok
Sweet potato is not a true potato.
Please someone have “Sweet Potato” as on of the options for Eric in the nickname draft.
French Fry legal pick, I’m pretty sure I’ve ordered them as French fries in the past. Chips legal pick. Sweet not a legal pick
It took my whole commute to get through 4 picks 🤣
This is officially the most heated draft they've ever done lol.
i have never been this flustered about potato’s. andrew is so wrong
french fry is a cut of fry
Baked potato covered in chili.
Eric is a disturbed individual...
Nvm he won me over with couch potato
Shoulda drafted GLaDOS
Eric wins. Also I think picking a specific type of potato doesn't preclude a preparation method and vice versa. Russet potatoes would be a valid pick and not preclude mashed because you could mash any potato. It's just an emphasis on whether you think the potato type or the preparation is what makes it great.
Great picks all around though.
Sweet potato is very specifically a dish. Eric is a right guy
Eric and Andrew both with absolute honking performances here
ALL TIME BEST PIECE OF CONTENT! Insane
Eric picking sweet potatoes is absolutely batshit
I’m on Andrew’s side in spirit. I suppose, it’s fine if it’s to reference a specific fry, but “French fry” feels like an umbrella term. It’s like one notch away from “sweet potato” in my book
I worked at a sub shop that sold various flavors of chips, and people would legitimately say things like "salt and vinegar French fries" because it is what they're called. I think just fries is more common, but people are accidentally saying it when it's not even on the menu so they are out there.
I’ve never seen more people be wrong in the draft before, but wth are Andrew, Eric, and Gavin on about in this episode?
Eric’s sweet potato take is way crazier than Andrew’s takes. If everyone just picked a type of potato (russet, gold, etc) then you’d run out of picks in the first two rounds. Needs to be specific.
"maybe I'm wrong, I'm open to being wrong" might be the biggest lie Andrew has ever told
French fries is too broad. All fries are French fries. If you go to chick fil a and order French fries the guy isn’t gonna be like oh we don’t have those. He’s gonna give you type of French fries that they have there. Which are waffle cut. Which are markedly different from other cuts. A potato wedge is a French fry. just saying French fry gives you a lot of shit. I think that’s the problem. I do have to say though. A tater tot is certainly not a French fry. Sorry Andrew. But boys. I have the solution. French fry draft. Of all the cuts. Badda bing badda boom. Close the loop. And then Eric can draft Fry from Futurama eating a baguette or whatever the fuck.
How did they put out a poll about whether French Fry is a type of fry but didn't ask about if a Yam is a Potato? That would be like Andrew drafting Corn Chip!
Some of these comments are insane to me lol. Imagine being told you are "wrong" for having your own opinion on a subject. On a side note, I can only imagine how boring this podcast would be if the lads all got along 😂
Tater tots as the #1 overall pick is worse than greg oden
Hardest I’ve laughed at anything in awhile and “I’m the only guy in his corner, it means I’m the only one close enough to punch” is an all timer 😂
Much like this being the wrongest Andrew has ever been, this is the rightest Eric has ever been
Andrew is ruining drafts
How does andrew have a problem with a pierogi but picked a croquette. Both have mashed potatoes but are encased in something else.
If gnocchi counts then pierogi should count
I am on Andrew’s side, but when the clarification was made about it being McDonald’s I was ok with it
GNOCCI?!? THEY HAVE THAT!!!!
Eric‘s sweet potato take is so funny because you know if anybody else chose that without specifying what type of dish it was he would freak out
Who doesn’t call them French fries?
Nobody mentioned vodka
I find it funny that everyone is against Andrew on this but 73% agreed with Andrew a while back when a poll for this came up lol
That's a great point. The comments on that said there will be context missing, but I dont think there was 🤔 I was the 26% though, so I still don't agree with Andrew.
Sometimes with art, you never know what's going be a hit. Did not expect this to be such a heater
If Gavin had drafted "Fries" I'd be on Andrews side, but he's just fighting to fight here. It's also so funny that he's telling Gavin "Just because you don't know what julienne fries are" when he just learned that word 15 seconds ago. Jesus christ I should have waited to comment until the end, not a minute later Andrew is just fighting to fight again. Saying you have to draft specific flavors of chips is insane. So mash potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, and mashed potatoes with cheese are different picks? What is even happening. I also think it's fine for Eric to take sweet potato as long as it doesn't take every preparation of sweet potato off the board. Like as long as someone can draft sweet potato casserole after he drafts sweet potato, no big deal. Also, sweet potatoes are fully not potatoes, but since they're called "potato" it's fine for this draft. Irish Potatoes (which are cookies made with no potato) would have also worked, or couch potato. It's in the name.
Spud Webb for potato not potato draft
Was on Eric’s side until the Sweet Potato argument. Needed to pick a dish.
Yeah this is a potato draft not a potato dish draft. Any type of potato or potato dish should work including super vague ones like sweet potato. But you should also be able to draft sweet potato fries as a result. They are completely different things.
I agree that Eric picking sweet potato goes against the spirit of the draft
Andrew almost ruined this draft but because of that it was hilarious ! But for real Andrew I don't know how your brain works but you are wrong man on this so hard.
Eric picking Sweet Potato with no variant after his "spirit to this" argument is nuts. I wasn't on Andrew's side before but I definitely was at that point 😂
Andrew has taken pedantry to unbearable levels
I loooove sweet potato anything. Picking raw sweet potato is insane and a drop of the ball lmao
Andrew has completely lost his mind which is saying something. EDIT: so has Geoff. Eric and Gavin took the top 2 picks and anyone who thinks otherwise needs help
I would argue a tot is a hashbrown variant more than a fry variant
Im only 2 picks in and im worried from these comments
This one was crazy. Draft of the year for me lol. So many wild takes lmao.
Andrew so wrong at the start, and then Eric swept in to be even more wrong with the sweet potato pick.
The other day, I was on Andrew’s side about something. I don’t even remember what it was about, but I was probably wrong because my goodness he has never been more wrong than this draft.
I can concede that French is the cut, but if you gave me any cut of fry and called them French fries I’d be cool with it. Sweet potato as a type of potato is absurd though, thats an entire category.
I honestly I Don't care about the whole french fry and potato chip argument. But a potato with TUNA FISH????? Also, why do the British love baked beans so much?
They are a staple of UK culture like the Twinkie for the USA. The advertising was also stella "Beans, beans, good for your heart, the more you eat em, the more you fart" was a common school playground saying. Also think it dates back to WWII where rationed food in cans were king. In addition, I don't like tuna, but tuna sandwiches and jack potato with tuna are very common in the UK.
1 pick in and Andrew has never been more wrong about anything in his life
Condiments draft! Please!
Pierogies was such a good pick I’m still voting for Nick for the vibe alone. Also I think the Andrew thing is a bit regional. French Fries as a default in the USA are just standard cut fries. After that every other type like Steak, Waffle, Crinkle etc. would be listed. I am unsure if that’s the case in Canada.
I cannot believe they let Eric get away with sweet potato
I hate it, but Eric won me over with couch potato
Geoff and I had very similar culinary experiences as children cause every single one he drafted would have been on my list.
This is the best draft that has ever been done
My four: Mr Potato Head Vodka Seaside Chips The Potato YTP Lord of the Rings song
Geoff killed this draft and this could have easily been 207.
Andrew, wrong about french fries. Half right/wrong on potato chips. 100 percent right on sweet potato. It all should have been left to a vote, eric should have changed his sweet potato pick. Great video. You did it again lads.
I think Andrew is absolutely correct
Andrew was right about french fries and eric is wrong for taking an entire category of potatoes
Sweet Potatoes are not Potatoes though. Not even related. From two different families
Why did Eric make me agree with Andrew after how wrong he was the entire draft
Andrew is right French Fry to me is not explicitly the cut but that’s probably regional. I still think you can draft it. I don’t know if I can defend him after the potato chips thing
TORNADO POTATO LETS GO
French fries, potato chips (crisps), baked potato, scallop potato. (Mash is a great pick though. The french fry argument was insane (but awesome). Couldn't stop laughing at "Cover you head Nick".
I’ve never agreed with Andrew more (besides picking tater tot #1) French fry is a category it’s like picking a Club sandwich in a sandwich draft there are verity’s of them you absolutely have to say what kind of French fry sorry not sorry #andrewisright
Eric smashed this draft
No roasties is crazy
This is some pencil level shit
Just so you know, I asked my 8 year old son what chips you get from McDonald's, and without a single drop of hesitation he said loud and proud "oh you mean delicious FRENCH FRIES"
Also I appreciate Eric more and more as time goes on. He's the hero we deserve
You can tell Andrew is a sports guy who gets really invested based off that French fry argument. It's completely delusional but he's diving in full boar. That's sports guy brain. 100% confidence and vibes regardless of right or wrong. French fries obvious #1. Fun episode.
At only 6 minutes in, will Nick win the joke of the episode?
I agree with Eric on everything in this video EXCEPT for his picks. Weird how that works sometimes, haha.
This draft would be a banger double feature with the condiments episode
Hey came from youtube just to say this was an incredible draft, and Gavin is right. Also, Eric's never been more normal and right.
French fry is a cut, it's another term for jullienne cut
I love this channel and the guys so much. This is by far the best draft in my book and it’s just getting better as I listen.
Hey Andrew, fellow Andrew here, what the fuck? What the hell is that first round pick? What the actual fuck are you doing? I love you as a fellow Andrew but you couldn't have made a possibly more wrong pick. Again, what the actual fuck? I listen to the podcast and suplementals when I go to sleep, this first pick made me get up and comment on this.
Andrew is completely wrong for picks 3 and 4. French fries are not all fries. But Eric is even more wrong with sweet potato. It's like drafting potato. There are heaps of different types of sweet potato. Ultimately it's a different vegetable but even if it counts, which in happy with, you have to specify what sort just like all the other picks.
“That doesn’t count kettle cooked” what are you talking about Nick????
Geoff wins hands down
Sweet potato is not a type and violates the spirit of the draft. Sweet potato fries. Baked sweet potato. Mashed sweet potato would all be acceptable picks.
Eric with sweet potato is giving only child vibes
Zen guys really went out the window on this one
51:30 The Sauce Monkey took over Nick for a second there.
Eric enjoys sweet potatos like an apple or a suppository
I would draft the country Turkey jn a 'Bird not Bird' draft, same goes for a Sweet Potato in a 'Potato not Potato' draft..... NEVER FKING MIND, GODDAMN MISTER POTATO HEAD
Andrew is right about the fries / consistency amongst draft picks. He is super wrong about the chips. Eric’s “sweet” pick deserves to be more scathed
As a chef saying french fries means all types of fries in the French cut styles. McDicks uses what would in fact be called shoestring style aka thin Julienne. Traditionally a basic French fry in most restaurants would be closer to a 3/8th" cut closer to what you get at a burger king or Wendy's or A&W or generally most big chains apart from the aforementioned McDicks. But that's all industry shit and is more of a nit picking note for Andrew and clarification. Great draft lads.
This is “Court Case” level Andrew. I really hope this is just a bit.
The best Regulation content is also the most difficult to explain to someone unfamiliar with the Regulation-verse
Just finished this draft and holy crap, I have so many feelings about everything. That was the wildest draft ever…
The amount of times my partner has asked me to get him just chips at the supermarket is a lot. So, once Andrew is wrong
Geoff wins this one for me, hands down. Andrew continues to be the most wrong and quadruples down 😅
How did Vodka not even get an honorable mention?
Eric drafting Sweet Potato is equivalent to him drafting Tomato or Eggplant. They're not potatoes.
I:m usually on Andrews side, but he has never been so wrong. Pure insanity.
Tater tots are awful
who wouldve thought the Potato Draft would produce one of the more unhinged pieces of content they’ve made since starting Regulation 😂
That being said, Geoff with a clean sweep
I had to stop 11 minutes in just to say I don't know how we got here with this draft but I am here for it.
I still want the potato flag that they came up with years ago bc I need to let people know I'm ready for potatoes
I normally am an Andrew defender but this was a tough one
Tattie scones is a good breakfast potato
Was wondering why this draft was an hour long, found out faster than expected haha. What a wonderful but wild ride. Potatoes are the greatest food to exist 100%
Yes, andrew is wrong. But good god, would I hate to be wrong in the presence of Eric. That guy is so grating, belittling, and condescending, that there’s no room for discussion and persuasion to the correct side
If Geoff dosent win this one im going to RIOT
Eric drafted a yam lol I think russet or golden potato would have been acceptable because they are potatoes, sweet potatoes are not actually potatoes
Andrew taking tater tot first is just crazy. I do agree with the fry take though
This fry conversation is fucking insane, what is Andrew talking about
To add to this, it’s a POTATO draft, not a flavoured potato draft, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ANDREW
This was so funny. Never have I ever seen a more chaotic episode lol
Andrew is constantly more confidently wrong than AI and man does it put me up the wall sometimes. Then he doubles down and triples down on how wrong he is, and then when he realizes he's wrong, he tries to qualify it with "I'm open to being wrong". Dude. Please.
Worst draft pick draft sounds like a war after this one and YES FUCKING French fry’s are potatoes
The urge to spew my manifesto opinion and not care at all is really a flip of the coin czar.
How did nobody pick roast potatoes? The ultimate potato style, especially when they're scuffed up, fluffy on the inside, cripsy on the outside. Perfect.
I don't know why Andrew kept saying Gavin took every type of fries when it was established they could still pick curly fries, waffle fries etc. It seems like that was Andrew's main problem with the pick and he was wrong about it? Eric picking sweet potato in general is crazy, none of the others agreed with it but they caved for no reason. It's like if the first pick was just 'potato' then no one else can draft anything - well I guess Eric could still pick sweet potato and Gavin could have his Spanish omelette, Nick could have pierogi... maybe it would've been a much crazier and fun board!
For Nick's pick tho, I think kettle cooked is eliminated in potato chips. Just as baked chips would also be. 🤔
What is the flavour take from Andrew, he just fell off that hill he died on
Excuse some of the language I may use. Love Andrew to death, salt of the earth. But holy fuck and I getting sick of his general "I'm right, you're wrong, and you can't convince me otherwise" bits and indignant attitude.. Grateful for the guys being able to call it out and the humor they're able to create from it. But that's becoming most pod episodes or drafts now..
These all have subtle hints of potato (if ya know you know)
I haven’t finished the episode, but I think nicks got me at latkes 😂
If it was "Best Potatoes" I am on andrew side but instead it is "Best TYPES of Potatoes".
"Sweet" oh wow man
I’ve never agreed more with someone’s board more than Geoff’s picks
Nick was hungry in this one easy win
Andrew really squandered his first pick with his weird personal preference.
We waited 4 years for this draft and little did we know the boys were brewing an all timer.
Insane hill to die on for Andrew. Never change 😂
Andrew continues to be insane but man he brings the rest of the guys down with him sometimes. With their last picks I think Eric and Gavin took themselves out of the running, at least for me. I think that of the remaining three, Geoff takes it.
As a long-time Andrew apologist, he has never been more wrong over and over than he was in this draft
geoff's list easily wins. He's the only one that didn't lose the plot. potatoes are such an easy category to draft from and we all just decided to ignore the spirit halfway through. It's clearly Andrew's fault for derailing it, but Eric really let it get to him and let it go completely off the rails.
after the recap, Nick's list is a close second.
we lost the plot halfway through. how dare y'all make me side with Andrew on this one. 😂 I was completely against Andrew in the first half and then in the second half we really lost the plot.
he keeps saying sweet potatoes are a type of potato, but they are not. they're yams.
sweet potatos are yams. they're not potatoes. we call them sweet potatoes because we're dumb. I would give it to Eric if he specified a dish but I would still side eye it. he might as well draft couch potato. and if that's the game we're playing then sure but I'm pretty sure the spirit of the game is potatoes and/or potato-based dishes.
French fries are not always the shoestring fries or straight fries. In lots of restaurants, you'll get steak fries when you order something that comes with french fries.
I’ve order French fries all the time and it is listed that way on menus.
I don’t like sweet, but French fry is a the pick
But what kind of tator tot Andrew? Crowns? Logs? Barrels? Puffs? You can't just take tator tots when that's an entire sub genre of potato.
hey andrew, i hate potato/kettle chips because they’re both potatoes. hear me out- i love corn chips
3 picks in and this is the wildest draft yet
Gfs picks: Mashed, perogis, waffle fry, Potato soup. side note: Andrew needs to be institutionalized
Look man... I'll pick a Sonic Tater Tot over a french fry ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
French fries is what Americans use for fried patato rectangles. Fry can be anything including a Mars bar.
Andrew absolutely lost the plot, had a wee bit too much of the kool aid
My #1 pick would be the 1 Curly Fry you get in your order of regular chips accidentally
I'm missing Vodka on the board.
This has been a long time coming
I was completely on Eric's side, until he did just sweet potato because they could still take waffle fry or shoestring or whatever if you take French fry but taking sweet potato itself is not right and then couch and bad tech aren't picks at all because they aren't potatoes. This draft was insane.
Its not a dish draft. Its a potato draft
Andrew is completely wrong about feench fries, if Gavin drafted fries then he could claim all fries but drafting frencf fries should leave every other variation of fries open to be drafted
Potato au gratin is just a patato dish with cheese,(gratin) on top. The name is Dauphinoise potato's. Geoff doesn't know his patato's.
This is the biggest "hm" draft I've ever heard and it's my favorite noise you guys make.
Geoff won this by MILES.
Croquettes are a real Japanese food. It is not a French word are all. Andrew doesn't know about potatoes at all.
I now realize Eric has the patience of a saint
Geoffs love of potato has clearly put him in a league of his own on spud excellence.
Andrew, my brother in crusts, what are we doing?
Controversy aside, Geoff just dominated this draft
I’ve never been more on Gavin’s side
This has been an all-timer. Definitely worth the wait from Season 2 of F**kFace
Eric we're doing homemade brown butter gnocchi and short ribs tonight this pick was excellent timing
Mine would be mr, couch, sega chip, and GLaDoS.
Is this the most red Andrew we’ve seen?
Andrew is right about the fries and chips.
Eric has never been more right, in sooo many ways!
I LOVE how passionate Andrew is about potatoes
Andrew drafted Tater tot when there are multiple types of tater tots, then goes on to completely shit on Gavin for the French fry pick is the ultimate wtf move.
Sweet Potatoes are yams, and they suck
I listen to the podcast and the drafts almost solely on Spotify but I brought myself to this app just to comment Eric is right... about everything he claims. Also because nobody asked my picks would have been French fries Mashed potato Hashbrowns Potato base soup And potatoe chips would have been my last pick
How do I vote for Andrew to win this draft, be he absolutely won hands down.
Ideal format for accuracy- Preparation and type of potato (excluding fries), for example mashed sweet potato. Ideal format for entertainment- whatever tf is happening here
Gotta love a highly argumental draft. Might be my favourite content
Heated draft boys hahaa
Within 5 minutes my hackles were so raised, I love these guys they freak me out so much hehehe
The voting poll can't come any faster lmao 😂
French fries get called “French” because nobody wanted to say “Julien” Tater tots aren’t fries. They are tots.
Goddamn Erick is annoying in this one.
can not stand this any more. Cancelling my membership after this.
The fact that this wasnt the video where the idol was played is wild
Justice for Eric! Sweet potato is a justified pick for a Potato draft!
@Andrew, I wish I was as confident in my views of the world as you are. @Eric, Sweet potato? They gave you an out with baked or fries, and you refused to take it. You are either a class A rage baiter OR insane. Or both.
Picking french fries sucks. It's the general term for all fries cut thin and lengthwise. It essentially takes away steak, shoestring, crinkle, and fresh cut fries, which I would distinguish as their own thing considering all those other cuts are almost always processed. There's a spirit to these things and we all know those specific cuts of french fries were on people's boards. To be clear, it's not as bad as just picking fries would have been, which would also include curly and waffle. And yes Andrew is wrong when he argues french fries and fries are the same. Sweet Potato is an even worse abomination of a pick. Absolutely love sweet potatoes but I can't believe they all acquiesced to allowing the generic sweet potato as a pick over a preparation.
ANDREW YOUR GOOFTOWNIES TRY TO STAND BESIDE YET YOU SPIT UPON US. WE LOOK LIKE FOOLS PLEASE Edit: Eric, thanks for taking the heat off of us with RAW sweet potato
I get Andrew’s fear about the French fries pick, but all of his explanation has never been more wrong. I will say however, he was the ONLY ONE who stood 10 toes down on the Sweet potato argument and he was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Everyone else are COWARDS for letting Eric bully them into allowing that pick
It's a bad pick, buts it's still a valid pick tho?
I ordered French fries right at the beginning of this vid. Had no idea what that entailed
Extremely disappointed in Eric’s lack of spirit w that sweet pick. Really pissin me off w that one guy
What a unhinged contentious draft. 😂 I think Geoff won this one.
Unless the rules were specifically laid out somewhere that I missed, there's nothing wrong with Eric's sweet potato pick. Andrew kept arguing that it's like picking russet, which would also be okay. The draft is for "types of potatoes", not "potato preparations/diahes". The whole thing could be russet, Yukon, red, sweet, etc.
I’m mad at everyone for letting Eric get away with sweet potato
THIS
I think that Spanish omelette would have been totally valid and maybe the best pick of the draft.
Loving the salt draft. Also appropriate for the potato draft to be so salty.
It was a draft about potatoes and it turned into the wildest ride ever, this could be Regulation's Condiments Argument. Andrew's list was a solid list, very good picks but his take on French fries was so wrong I was left flabbergasted. Also, I'm absolutely floored that shredded hash browns wasn't his first pick, in fact I'm staggered it took 9 picks for shredded hash browns to show up on anyone's list. Insane. I was on Eric's side both in picks and the argument(s) for the whole draft, right up until he picked sweet potatoes as an entity, rather than a prepared type of sweet potatoes, like every other previous pick was a prepared version of potatoes. It makes no sense to me why he wouldn't just pick sweet potato fries, the best version of sweet potatoes, the others should have pressed him harder for the need for that specificity. Imo. I would have drafted Vodka and after listening to this draft I think I need some, this was incredible content but holy shit fellas. Also, Geoff's list was the best overall. I'd actually really like to try his mum's potato soup, which was in itself a really lovely pick.
Eric is freaking crazy for sweet potato
Eric should’ve had to pick a dish but Andrew has lost his mind as well
Andrew and Geoff deciding against doing bits in a draft is absurd, on top of all the other wrong Andrew was this draft.
This is one of the best drafts ever, I could not stop smiling through all of the arguing and remarks after every single pick
French is a style of cut like French cut green beans. So French fries are French cut fries. The term has kind of become a catch all term for fries but that doesnt make it accurate.
Worked at McDonald's for years Andrew. They call them "French fries" right on the box lol.
Don’t come at me. Hash brown is what you get at a real place if they give you a solid thing it’s a Pattie
What videos follow this recording? I want to hear the aftermath
So just hashbrown. Anything else is a potato cake
I’m on Eric’s side. It’s a Potato draft. Not a Potato Foods draft. I think it would’ve been acceptable to pick Russet potato, nobody just went that direction🤷. Sweet potato sympathizer over here 🍠
I love these idiots
Are you people high? Has the members of this podcast got addicted to ketamine since I last listened? I am full of rage right now what has happened. Chips is an option that’s it move on omg or sorry Gavin crisps. French fries 1 chip 2 move the goddamn fuck your mother on.!!!! I like going to Sam’s hotdogs because their French fri is crinkle cut I like going to chilis because they have a steak cut French fry I love jersey mikes subs because they have a variety potato chips including normal or kettle cooked.
Of all things that would cause a regulation argument in a draft I never expected it to be over French fries in a potato draft. Wild hill to die on Andrew especially with the potato chip argument right after lol also dont agree with Eric's pick of sweet potato but I agree that sweet potato is stellar
Nobody orders French Fries is an insane take.
This was the draft with the most amount of people being wrong at different times about different things
Geoff clear winner not a single misstep in his choices
French Fries are the all encompassing term...If you order a "Cheeseburger and french fries" at a restaurant, they will bring you the variant of french fries they have. If you order a "Cheeseburger and crinkle fries" they will say "oh we don't have crinkle, we have steak fries" or whatever...Andrew was right about the french fries, wrong about the chips, and right about the sweet potatoes.
It's insane how wrong every single person can be about different things in one draft, but especially the French Fry argument. Yes, people will *call* standard McDonald's style fries French Fries (utterly deranged for Andrew to say nobody orders French Fries), people will also call any tissue a kleenex, any adhesive bandage a band-aid. French Fry is the generic term that just gets applied to the most common variation. There are *so many* restaurants that will write French Fries on the menu and give you crinkle cut, or steak fries, or shoestring. All of them are types of french fry, we just as people always default to the most general term when there's only one option.
I’ve never been more excited to vote on and see the results of a draft
I’ve ordered from McDonald 11 million times and had no idea that the cut of fry’s had a name and never gave a shit. They are French fries idiots. You think a worker at McDonald’s thinks that hard abut their fries?
I’m so mad. It’s a French fry. Gavin has French fry. Cut doesn’t matter it’s a fry
There are multiple types of sweet potatoes. Like, it’s an umbrella term. Yams are just one type.
Drafting individual flavours of chips is like drafting tater tots with specific seasonings or condiments
Andrew is the most wrong I think he has ever been about French Fries. That is what they are called on nearly every menu, unless they are some sort of other shape like waffle or curly or crinkle. Searching any menu will show that.
I am so excited for this. I havnt listened and Geoff just wrote what he thinks is Andrew’s worst potatoes. Geoff please don’t read but I’ve poured my first drink and I’m so fucking excited I’ve been waiting for this draft all week ok boys I’m ready! Hehe I’m stupid excited for this. Best my draft is baked, mashed, fried, algroten and then soup
Maybe its crack?
I normally don't comment, but Andrew is so wrong I had to.
Because Andrew is an honorable man, I feel the need to defend him here. French fry is not a cut. I used to be a chef and a kitchen manager who did all the ordering. When I worked in places that ordered fries, we had to specify the cut of a french fry. The McDonalds style french fry is a shoestring fry. Order that from Sysco and you get McDonalds fries. French fry refers to all fries.
If you go to a bulk restaurant ordering website like Sysco, you click the category "French fries", under which is waffle, crinkle, shoestring, etc.
greatest draft ever
I couldn't get off Eric's side fast enough when he drafted a straight up sweet potato
Andrew has hot potato takes.
I can't believe the roast potato wasn't drafted.
Disappointed in Gavin
This was an insane draft. I love these dorks.
The most wrong and the most stroppy I've seen Andrew in quite some time
I don’t care who I vote for, as long as Andrew doesn’t win.
On the fourth pick right now, I feel like the best follow up here would be a potato chip draft.
God this sucks I love it
Andrew asking who orders them as "french fries"? Me. I do. Apparently i'm no one though
French fries should have encompassed all fries. Also, Eric nailed this draft and love how he has taken the pedantic nature of everything that’s happened lately and making it into content. Vindictive Rat Man is my favorite.
Andrew, man.
This rules 18 min in, wtf is happening. Andrew is crazy, Eric and Gavin are right
Andrew is on the ferry to Wrong Island
As the biggest idahoan fan, I can't wait to get pissed off I'm going to keep editing this as I go. Nothing wrong with a mashed potato first pick. It is as much a staple home side dish as a french fry is a staple fast food side dish. Tater tots are not a french fry variant, they are a hash brown variant if you want to get technical. Default french fry is just french fry. Other people should be allowed to take other specific types of fries. Nobody calls a default french fry anything but a french fry. Potato chips are also just potato chips, the flavors on them are not relevant. His argument is like saying mashed potatoes with butter and mashed potatoes without butter are different items, which is crazy. Lattke is an unbelievably based pull. Home fries have a significantly higher ceiling than a shredded hash brown, but a much lower floor. You have to know how they're going to come first. Sweet is an illegal pick. But like sweet potato pie or something would be fine.
The end of this just became a potato not potato draft
After the travesty that the states draft was, I don’t believe Andrew gets to believe in the spirit of the draft anymore
I was just trying to catch up on real world news from the past week, and boy was it painful, and then I saw that this had come out. Thank you, you wonderful people, for being my escape once again.
I think playing a game like worms after drafts has to be the best idea. Intentional or not
Andrew picking Tater Tot, when there are a multitude of different tater tots (like pucks and kegs) but having a problem with French fry is wild
This is incredible work by Andrew. Just so confidently wrong the entire time
Listening to Andrew’s argument in this draft has made me want to pull my hair out. I’ve never heard someone so confidently wrong and continue to defend it
Have you not heard Panton v. F**kface?! Where he bribed a child to testify against her father, hired three phony lawyers to falsify evidence, and committed perjury to avoid making good on a legitimate gentleman's wager?
French fries, to me, includes curly, crinkle, etc. always has. Just because we colloquially say “fries” to refer to all French fries doesn’t make Andrew wrong (which curly, steak, crinkle etc all qualify for “French” or batonnet cuts while waffle fries wouldn’t). And yes, a batonnet cut is, by definition, the French way to cut a potato into a fry, and covers all potatoes cut into strips of up to 2” wide. I know it’s easy to see this as an Andrew problem but he’s right. However, Andrew was out of line about potato chips. That’s just flavoring the same thing in a different way.
If I ordered fries and got shoestring without any indication on the menu they’re shoestring I’d be ticked off
God I love this podcast and I love these guys. I have no conflicts in my personal life so hearing these zero stakes arguments gives me life and I will never understand how so many of yall take them so seriously. Laugh a little guys it won’t hurt you
I'm right with you dude. I listened to this whilst doing my weekly shop and to everyone else I must have looked like a grinning idiot with tears in my eyes trying to hold back my laughter while reaching for milk 😂
Have they forgotten the Honorable Mention Draft where they don't say their honorable mentions anymore and they can use them in a future draft?
Eric with the SWEET is just making my eye twitch, I can’t believe andrew isn’t on protest
I eat purple sweet potatoes roll all the time
I'm with Andrew, French Fries has always been used as an all encompassing term for all types of fry besides maybe a potato wedge.
You are wrong bud. Have you ever worked in a kitchen? French Fry is 100% a type of fry cut.
This is from wikipedia, so YMMV but: "French fries,[a] or simply fries, also known as French fried potatoes, chips,[b] and finger chips,[c][2] are batonnet or julienne-cut[3] deep-fried potatoes of disputed origin. " and later "In the United States and most of Canada, the term French fries or French fried potatoes (also written as french fries or French-fried potatoes), or shortened to fries, refers to all dishes of fried elongated pieces of potatoes. Variants in shape and size may have names such as curly fries, shoestring fries, etc.[19]" So despite everyone saying Andrew is wrong on this, he isn't.
This is correct. I went into more detail on other posts but French refers to the method of frying, not the cut. French-fried potatoes, as they were originally called, could be any shape and were originally slices, not sticks.
Andrew lost points for several things in this draft (IMO) but saying that pierogis aren't his favorite... unforgivable
The andrew sympathizing needs to stop and EVERYONE needs to agree when he's wrong good LORD. I get why geoff does it but he needs to be called out for his insanity. Also nick what were you smoking to agree in the first place edit:also people order "french fries" as someone who has actually worked in restaurants. it's incredibly normal in the northeast
It's correct in the Southeast too
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty positive a hash brown is a big tater tot
Depends on what you’re talking about when you say hash browns. McDonald’s hash brown, yes. Waffle House, no.
Andrew is SO wrong it is insane French fries are the standard straight fries Shoestrings are characteristically longer and thinner
And Eric was wrong with sweet potato hahaha
I am here for you on Mashed Geoff. I think your like average french fry is better then an average mashed potato but I think there is no ceiling on mashed, the best mashed potatos I have had are some of the best food i have ever had across all food. I have restraunts I go to just for their mashed potato I do not go out of my way for the fry. I have made journeys for mashed.
Pierogi is a dumpling with a potato in it. Definitely not in the spirit of this draft
Potato soup is soup with potato in it, gnocchi is pasta with potato in it... I don't see you complaining about those, though.
Every pick has been a type of potato that is ready to be eaten. Eric picking just sweet potato and not a specific dish like all the others have been tells me he picked a raw sweet potato like Geoff said. He says all these good sweet potato dishes, but it seems he likes to just eats sweet potatoes raw. Weird. Bad pick, imo. But should not have eliminated other forms of sweet potato that have been cooked.
Everyone is focusing on Andrew's takes in the first 15 min, but I think Eric's sweet potato take is just as crazy. Sweet potato fries and mashed sweet potatoes are completely different just like mashed potatoes and french fries are different.
French fry is what you see when you close your eyes and think about what a fry is
Absolutely bonkers to me that Waffles fries was not chosen
This was hilarious, and also Eric dominated this draft. He won by a mile.
I am 100% with Eric on sweet potatoes. This draft is crazy with the fights, I love this.
Sweet potato, couch potato, shitty pc being a potato, feel like picks for a potato not potato draft. Not a potato draft
The first three picks are all genres the tater tot the mashed potato and the French fry
Ah yes, nature's flavor grenade
Debbie can absolutely draft the French fry you've all done that crap and the drinks draft alone somebody drafted all of coffee
If you cant draft French fry why draft anything ever again
Everyone is on point this draft, love it
Isn't a standard fry just called a straight-cut? Saying a curly fry, waffle fry or tot isnt a french fry is insanity
Literally read the first sentence of the Wikipedia article on French fries.
No, Eric, that's not how you spell "latke".
WHO could have seen this French fry debate COMING? French fries could have their own damn draft!
For Andrew @17:00 Hey, I was a manager at Maccy D's a long time ago. They're French Fries my friend.
But have you considered.. you're wrong and he's right?
Potato chips is a type of potato, not specific flavors
Andrew has never been more wrong than this draft
andrew is insane here... im three picks in.. but yeah insane takes
4 picks in AND IT GOT WORSE!!! 😂
No one loves being wrong more than Andrew.
Eric is pretty damn close with sweet potato
Pizza Pizza is not a new pizza chain. It’s a huge Canadian pizza chain. It’s awful pizza too. Wtf is Andrew on about? What an awful first overall pick. Andrew already pissing me off with his unhinged attitude.
Maybe the nanaimo branch opened recently
Oh HELL YEAH- big fan of potatoes, I'm excited for this!
Oh dear god- french fries are french fries, they're a specific fries :p
