Art & Soundtracks #7: Hehku

When writing music there is a point to be made regarding to familiarity. It's natural for the brain to attach onto things that it has heard before, that it has attached memories and feelings to. This is something I thought about when creating Hehku. It builds around a repeating mellow sounding harpsichord motif, which is you can hear right at the beginning and throughout the song. The motif has a familiar medieval (or tavern!) feel, and it may bring about memories of worlds you've experienced before in different fantasy media. The very end of the track here grows into a more rhythmical and stronger arrangement of a melody heard earlier in the track, almost acting as a reprise for a dance in a tarvern.

Hehku is a Finnish word for glow or ardor.

Composer's notes (artsy stuff)
I came up with the main motif back in elementary school, possibly being around 11 years old. Not much came of it then, but the melody lived back in my mind to this day well over a decade later as I finally found a fitting use for it in Hehku.
