Voices of the Void Alpha 0.10.0 dev test

Update for Patrons about the state of the game and 0.10.0 dev test.

Its that time again, VotV unstable Dev Patreon builds! The next update is for the major release of 0.10.0

Please keep in mind, these are unstable builds so you most likely encounter the following:

• Bugs

• Some unbalance between new props/objects

• Basic functionality in some areas (such as new features/systems in testing)

• Events acting odd/bizarre

• Mods not working

• Incompatibility with the old save files

A very important and critical point of awareness: 0.9.0n saves will not work (And that also goes for older saves as well). It's recommended to backup your asset folder and your saves separately and wipe the VotV appdata folders completely. The reason for this is due to the overhaul to the saving system, this overhaul has provided many functional benefits & future proofing (hopefully) as well as a roughly 30-35% decrease in the save file size.

To locate and backup the VotV AppData folder:

• Press Windows Key + R

• Type %localappdata%

• Find the VotV folder

• Right click and select "Copy"

• Paste on Desktop/Away from appdata and wait for it to finish copying

• Delete the original folder, this is required to let the game re-create the assets folder for the new 0.10 system

Remember: As Patreon members, there are stipulations to accessing these builds that we expect:

• Patreon builds are not to be shared outside the Patreon channels without direct authorisation.

• You cannot stream/share anything from the Patreon builds publicly or to non-Patreon members.

• Report bugs for Patreon builds in the Patreon channels, do not report any test build issues in the general google doc report forms, use a specialized Forum Thread channel on a Discord server.

Any members found to be leaking Patreon exclusive content or information can find their access revoked indefinitely.

A note on Mods We know that modding is quite important for players, however during unstable/testing phases we must ensure that the information we receive is regarding issues caused by the game itself and not by potential outside factors that mods can introduce. Mods will generally cause issues in unstable builds and is prone to crashing the game on start-up, to add to that given the typically short time between different builds, its not a good use of time to keep updating mods when it could potentially break again in a few days. So please ensure you've fully backed up your Appdata, saves and custom assets, and then carried out a complete clean wipe of your VotV Appdata folder before launching into an unstable version. Reporting issues to us with mods delays the development of the game, as it means we're looking for something we're never going to find, this can build up a backlog if information being given to us is not accurate, so please ensure you follow instructions carefully.

To acquire the Access/ Cheat key that is required to run Patreon builds - join the Discord server, wait until Patreon bot assigns you the necessary roles (if it takes too long - message or mention staff members), then head to "t3-patreon-key-room" to acquire the key, further instructions are written in the channel.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're not a fan of using Discord to acquire the "Patreon access and cheat key", or report feedback or bugs in the bug report channel - email the Dev team at: devs@votv.dev
Make sure to include "PATREON" in the subject field to make it easier to find the email.

Please remember to provide as much detail in your email reports, make sure the subject is clear and contains the version and build you're playing on which can be found on the main menu.
