Garry's PPFilter App V0.10

Garry's PPFilter App V0.10 can be downloaded at the bottom of this post.

The download includes Garry's App Hub V0.11.

Garry's PPFilter App is a PP-Filter control tool that replaces the script and spice UI sections of the Pure PP app. It gives creators far more advanced UI to build their filters with, and users a set of quality of life improvements on top: you can set a preset for each track, quickly compare two looks side by side, and actually create presets, then share them and download other people's presets directly in the app.

It's also the framework GarryReal V2.0 runs in. GarryReal gets its own post covering the filter itself: [link to the GarryReal post]

The app's functionality can be split into 6 sections.

1. Shared App Ecosystem Features

The Window

The app runs in its own custom window with a few extras a normal AC app window doesn't have. The Enabled pill in the top strip turns the app off completely if you don't want it running at all, the gear opens the app's settings in the Hub directly, the dash folds the window down into a little puck you can drag anywhere on screen and click to bring the app back, and the X closes it. You can grab any edge to resize, and the window remembers its size and spot.

Setup Wizard

When you first open the app, the setup wizard greets you and walks you through the basics: what the PPFilter App does, how it fits alongside the App Hub, and the option to launch straight into the tutorial when you're ready.

In-app Tutorial

The tutorial runs you through what each feature is and how to use it, from the window itself through to the preset manager. Each step highlights the exact UI element it's describing and switches to the right tab automatically so you see the feature in context. You can step forwards and backwards, close it early, and pick it back up later from the Info tab. Most things also have a tooltip if you hover them.

Status Card

The status card shows vital app information and notifications. It has 5 possible states.

  1. Critical errors: these appear when the app detects something it can't recover from on its own. For this app that's mostly your PP filter not being set to the app's filter, and the card walks you through fixing it in a few clicks.

  2. Update available: these appear on startup when a new version of the app has been published or any of your mods have an update, and clicking the card jumps straight to the download.

  3. Community warnings: messages shown to everyone for app or mod specific warnings.

  4. Community info: non-urgent messages.

  5. Normal: the card shows your currently loaded preset and whether it's a user preset, a built in one, or a per-track preset.

The update, warning and info notifications can be disabled at any time in the App Hub.

Button Bar

The button bar holds the general app functions: save, load, open presets folder, browse community presets, reload filter, undo, redo, A/B compare, per-track presets and reset to defaults. When you're on a filter tab, a reset this tab button slides in next to them so you can reset just that tab's settings.

Saving asks for a name and an optional description, and warns you if the name already exists before it overwrites anything. Undo and redo cover your last 20 changes.

A/B Compare

The A/B button lets you compare two states of your filter. Click it to capture snapshot A, make your changes, click it again and it captures B, then every click after that flips the whole filter between the two so you can see exactly what your changes did. Right-click exits.

Per-Track Presets

The road icon opens the per-track preset system, which lets you assign a preset to each track so your look switches automatically when you load in. The picker lists every track you've got installed with search and filters, and if a track has more than one layout you can set a different preset for each. One switch turns the whole system on or off.

Community Preset System

The community browser lets you share and download presets online through the app. Search, filter and sort to find looks you like, then load them straight in. Every preset has like and dislike votes so the community surfaces the best ones, plus a favourite star, and you can click any author's name to see just their work.

When you upload, the app also lets you optionally include the spice effects your preset uses, and any filter extras like a GarryReal Builder filter you've built, so whoever downloads it gets the full setup.

Marketplace

The marketplace lives in the App Hub and is where you find more PP filters and spice effects. The listing is hand-curated, each entry shows name, author, description and version with thumbnails, free and paid are clearly labelled, and anything you already have installed is flagged along with available updates. You reach it from the Find more ppfilters card on the General tab or the Find more spice effects card on the Spice tab.

2. Info Tab Features

The Info tab stores information about the app, tips and shortcuts (right-click a slider to reset it, yellow text means changed from default, shift + drag for fine tuning, mouse wheel to fine adjust on hover), my Patreon and Discord links, the video guide if one is published, and buttons to restart the tutorial and setup wizard at any time.

3. General Tab Features

Filter Panel

The filter panel shows your active PP filter with its name, author, version and description, and picking a filter sticks across sessions and saves as part of presets. Open it up and you can also set that filter's accent colour, which retints the filter's UI while that filter is active.

Standalone and Mixable Filters

PP filter modules come in two kinds. A standalone filter works like a traditional Pure filter, while a mixable filter's functionality is split into tabs and those tabs can be mixed between filters. GarryReal is mixable.

Per-Tab Overrides

The Modules panel lets you override where any single tab comes from, so with more than one mixable filter installed you can run, say, one filter's tonemapping with another's lighting.

4. PP Filters Tab Features

This is where your active filter's own controls live, one sub-tab per part of the filter. For GarryReal that's 9 tabs covered in its own post.

For creators, this is the tab your filter gets to fill: the app gives you a full widget kit for building filter UIs (or raw ImGui if you want it), the ability to build your own UI systems directly in the app, and room for things Pure PP can't do, like full-screen interfaces of your own.

5. Spice Tab Features

Spice effects are extra screen effects that run alongside your PP filter. The spice tab replaces the UI in the Each one gets a card with an enable toggle and its settings folded inside, and presets capture spice settings too.

6. Settings Tab Features

Preset Manager

The list shows all your saved looks and lets you load, overwrite, rename or delete them, with search and per-filter chips to narrow it down. Each row wears a pill for the filter it was saved with plus one for each spice effect it uses, and a warning triangle appears if a preset needs a filter you don't have installed. You can give any preset a description, double-click a row to rename it, and destructive actions always ask first instead of just doing it.

Personalise

Set how the App Status Card looks: its accent colour (green or the app accent) and its animation style (Animated with intensity and speed sliders, Static Gradient, or Off). These save automatically and aren't part of presets.

How do I install?

The apps folder from the zip must be installed manually to the Assetto Corsa root folder. Watch the videos below if you don't know where your root folder is or how to install.

Hi Garry, Re subbed as i was intrigued with your new PP filter app. Nice work, really cool idea, although i must say, after tweaking and messing around with it for the past couple of hours, I'm struggling to get a good consistent look. It could just be me but it's rather confusing and certain other aspects just don't look right no matter how i tweak the settings. I think in time though with the community PPfilter sharing it could be a really good app. just my 2 cents, thanks for your great work otherwise mate.

Are you using the gamma version or the LCS version?
