Garry's Chaser Camera V1.01 release

V1.01 Update

I've updated this post with the new version instead of making a new one, so the link in the App Hub's marketplace stays the same and everything for the Chaser Camera stays in one place. The download at below is now V1.01.

V1.01 is mainly so the Chaser Camera works with the new V0.12 Chaser Cam App. All of the settings are now in CM's script settings, so they show up in the Chaser Cam App's Scripts tab and in CM, and any presets you saved before still work.

Along with that, the camera has a new low FPS stabiliser, its physics now run in smaller steps so a low frame rate doesn't change how the camera feels.

V1.0 Release Post

Garry's Chaser Camera is a cinematic and customisable chaser camera. By default the camera is very arcade-y but that can easily be changed by dialing it in to your liking. I also find the camera is alot smoother and more fluid then other cameras, and more immersive as the surface you're on changes the response so grass, kerbs and gravel all feel different from tarmac. It also leans into braking and cornering, reads the camber and gradient of the road so banking doesn't throw it off, and kicks over crests and dips.

Controls

The camera comes with a few settings for you to dial it in in game in the chaser cam app, like:

Feel controls

  • Physics Force Multiplier is how much it reacts to cornering, braking and bumps.

  • Inertia Switch Swiftness is how quickly it catches up when the load reverses, through a chicane or lifting off onto the brakes.

  • Camera Stiffness is the base feel everything else builds on, how tightly the rig is tied to the car.

  • Shake Intensity is the buzz that comes in as you keep on building speed at higher speed.

  • Slide Amount is how far the camera drifts out to the side in a slide so you can see the angle you're holding.

Field of view Controls

  • Base FOV is your field of view before any speed effects.

  • Having Dynamic FOV enabled means the FOV widens as you gain speed and eases back as you slow down.

  • Dynamic FOV Gain sets how much the FOV increases at speed.
