DevLog: FIRST IMAGE of Willow in 4k (Sneak Peek inside!) & Scene Progress
Quick reminder: You can follow development more closely on the Trello board.
I'm following the same trend as last week's DevLog: "Let's stop being a perfectionist, everything is always a 'work-in-progress' and will never be 'done', let's get push forward." I've forced myself to steam full-ahead and start on the goddamn scene already -- and wow, is it so refreshing to be posing scenes again. Immediately seeing your work, the story, and the characters come to life (finally) is so so invigorating.
✅ Last Week's Progress
What I accomplished since the last update:
Creating new character: Willow Hart (scroll down to the "Sneak Peek" section for more)
Face and body have been completely redone (Not like anyone saw her before)
Skirt (modeling and rigging - the asset imported from Daz3d was very subpar)
Glasses (texturing, and rigging)
Earrings (rigging)
Necklace (rigging)
🛠️ Current Development
What I'm working on right now:
Scene 6 (scroll down for a sneak peek)
I so badly want to spoil everything, but unfortunately, I'm bound by law to not spoil anything. But I will say this about this scene: This scene introduces our new character, Willow, and damn, am I having fun with the interactions between Anya, Ambrose (mc), Willow, and someone else!
Obviously (or not obviously), our characters are in the PRISM building and this is where we make some interesting discoveries.Posed 60 images (estimated 75 images)
🔮 Coming Soon
What I'm planning to work on next:
Fixing Anya's way too pale skin - looks like a ghost standing next to any other character
⚙️ Technical Corner
Rigging, re-texturing/re-skinning, and just importing characters from Daz3d into Blender is by far the most difficult process in the workflow - it's also a gigantic bottleneck. Diffeomorphic, the tool used to do the conversion from Daz3d to Blender does a fantastic job at importing the character and textures. But it doesn't always do a perfect 1 to 1 import, leaving the remainder of the process up to me.
This past week I've been fighting with importing all of the facial expressions for Willow. This time around, for some reason Diffeomorphic is having a problem importing all of the character expressions.
👀 Sneak Peek
Introducing Willow Hart
A brilliant but guilt-ridden botanist, Willow Hart finds solace in her research at PRISM while avoiding human connection, haunted by the memory of fatally shooting a drug dealer to protect her sister. She is a pragmatic Psion researcher at PRISM. Her emerald eyes peer through her glasses; glasses that are too large yet still frame her face perfectly. Her dirty-blonde hair is usually found gathered up in a messy bun.
