Greek to Me

I was thinking the other day that the name Calypso gets tossed around a lot. Marvel gave it to Kraven the Hunter’s voodoo nemesis. Pirates of the Caribbean turned her into a bizarre sea witch. Twisted Metal somehow made Calypso a guy. i’m sure there’s a lot more.

But for my money, there’s only one Calypso.  I’m old-school. Hell, I still call Odysseus Ulysses.  And so for me, Calypso will always be the immortal from Greek mythology whose story was as tragic as she was beautiful.  Also, I have not seen Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey or but I understand it’s Charlize Theron. Hardly his most controversial choice but ’ll reserve judgment.
