Quiet Corner - Book Display - Download
Hey everyone!
I wanted to finish this set earlier but these last few days were really hard for me, it took a lot to work on this set and complete it.
Sorry, if I won't be that animated in this post, despite that I'm still excited to share this set because I worked a lot on it, especially on the book covers.
This part of the Quiet Corner Collection focused finally on the books and showcasing them in the shop. I wanted to create bookshelves, displays and a lots of books. As you may saw my posts on Patreon I tried to as many book covers as I could. They took a lot of time so I couldn't do everyone's suggestion but thank you for everyone who sent one. I handpainted all of them in small resolution so in general one cover took about 10 minutes.
Sidenote: I don't know if you like it, I have access to a new feature on Patreon called Quips and I used that to post the latest updates. I think it doesn't send out notification emails and it's more like a quick post. Also it doesn't show up in my post feed so maybe it won't clutter up the posts section and hide the download posts. Let me know which one you prefer, if I write the WIPs in full, long posts (with email notification) or this new Quips (which I think only show up in the app, but I'm not sure about that, I can only write one from the app.) I thought I could combine, and post Quips daily-ish, and the usual WIP posts once a week where I detail everything.
About the collection:
The bookshelf is modular and can be placed next to each other seamlessly. I made some cabinets which snap to the wall and you can either build up a unit with them or put them above the bookshelf. They are 1 tile high so for medium wall you can place bookshelf+1 cabinet for tall bookshelf+2 cabinets. I was really inspired by the bookshelves in Livraria Lello in Porto, but I simplifed and changed the design so it fits to the style I was going for with my bookshop.
Both the bookshelf and the display shelf has a slot for a book genre sign, you can snap it on them and change the swatch.
I made the display shelf and the round display Businesses&Hobbies compatible so you can sell things from them. A slight disadvantage that you can't decorate them if you enable the sales because sims will buy the deco things as well. But on the display shelf you can put the in-game books and sell them (some of them have that thing when you put them somewhere they magically have a bookstand under them), and I plan to do some functional, readable books (hopefully) to have some trendy books in the game, and I'll use your earlier suggestions for that.
That's all. I hope you like this set, and I hope I can continue with the next part that I plan to be the last for this collection. Right now I'm a little overwhelmed and I have a hard time finding my motivation.

I attached the tray files as well so you can easily get everything included in this set. You’ll still need to download the package files , but if you’d rather not use the search function in-game, just place the tray files in your Tray folder, the room will then show up in your Gallery. You can also find me on the Gallery under the name thevaliasims.

You can find the items easily in your Build/Buy Catalog if you type in "Quiet Corner" or "VALIA".

- Low poly, new, maxis match meshes
- Since some items share the same texture you need to have them all files ending in "_texture" in your mods folder to properly work.

I wanted to leave a comment just to say you are SO incredibly talented. I use at least 10 items of yours in every single build. Ever item is so well-thought out, blends seamlessly, even the color scheme fits with most everything. You are definitely the best CC creator I have ever seen, and your work is very appreciated! hii, may be a dumb question, do we NEED the tray files? Or can we avoid downloading them/ delete them if downloaded? I don't know a ton about Sims 4 CC beyond picking what I like and putting the files in my mods folder
No, you don’t need them. It's only for those who would like to find the items quickly without using the search bar (if you have many CC it can be really slow using it.) It's just a room that contains the items in this set. If you have the tray files, a room shows up in your gallery and you can place it in the game.
I love this set. I came to ask a question and see that people were giving you a hard time. Even though this was six months ago, I want to say I love your CC and you have become one of my favorite content creaters very quickly.
My question is, was there a template you used to make your book covers? I would like to try and make some for personal use, if that is okay.
Hi, I love your content and this set, I just wanted to tell you that the shelf is clipping through the ceiling and highly visible on the upstairs floor. I don't know if it's just me or if it occurs on over people's pc.
Your CC is BEAUTIFUL, I think you’re my favorite creator. Just a heads up, Im fairly certain the bookcases cause an issue when placed in shared spaces of residential rentals. It took me a few weeks to figure it out.

Thank you, that's really generous of you but I don't want you to spend your money on me. I am thankful if people decide to subscribe because that allows me to spend more time on creating content but I would feel bad taking more without giving back more.

I love this!! I must confess, I quit all the Patreons I had. I was always routating between my favorite Creators. But with the Marketplace it would be to expensive to be stay fair to everyone. Everyone should get paid for the work and your CC is one of them worth the money. But for now I wait a little, how all of this is going on. I´ll spend my money in marketplace, ´cause this stuff never gets free. (and the Set you did for this is - as always- perfect!). I understand all the rumor about this, ´cause I think, the most people are like me, take the free stuff und then pay money for the one with Paywall. I´m a litte afraid what the Sims Future brings. But I can´t understand all the hate - we all need money to do a living. Keep up the beautifull work and keep care of yourself!

I hate that it's caused so much harm all around, and that people feel the need to attack creators–I can understand their frustration, but I don't align with vitriol as a response. It just hurts me to feel that coming through in this post because you seem like a very kind person, and I'm sorry for the damage all of this has caused. 🤍

Beautiful! The round display and display shelf are so unique and very much needed additions to the game. Aside from gushing over this lovely set, I wanted to say appreciate your transparency on your tumblr on the whole marketplace situation. I started playing the Sims with the first iteration then went without until the Sims 4 and started that journey on console which was a nightmare for building and felt very left out not being able to use CC. So with that being said I can understand looking at the marketplace through that lens. This is by no means me excusing EA and what I think is despicable and exploitative practices. However, I know that without creators like you this game would have lost its luster many years ago. So I will continue to support you and other creators through Patreon to ensure you're actually compensated fairly for your work. I think I can speak for many when I say all we ask for is continued transparency <3
First of all thank you! I feel people often see only black and white. Either you're good or evil. I envy and respect people who can say no to an opportunity to be part of something big and a chance to reach people who couldn't use CC before. I am not that good it seems like. But I accept the fact that I made a desicion (when I knew nothing about the buyout) which I was really excited about. I don't want to make "excuses", or say why I do what I do because people will just use it to throw back at me. By me being part of this doesn't mean I'm one of EA's evil minions or that I'm agreeing everything they do. I'm an individual person being happy the fact that the game I've been playing for so long offered me an opportunity I could never dream of. I understand why people are angry but don't understand why people decide to bully other people. Why don't they go and write hateful messages to EA's CEOs? Thank you again for your understanding and for being supportive. I try to be as open as I can but not gonna lie the backlash made me step back a little because I don't want my mental health to be that bad as it was in these last few days.
