As someone who has been constantly warning of the dangers posed by Christianity and Christian Nationalism, I'm hardly shocked to see what's happening here in America. If you know anything about Christian history, you know that Christianity is totalitarian, authoritarian, and has been the model for every police state that came after. Including this one!!!
Thank you all so much for your continued support. Gratitude doesn't quite cut it. If I could, I would do your dishes and fold your laundry. I'm so thrilled to have you here helping me continue to push back against this tide of unreason, and the abandonment of the Constitutional principles we thought secure. I hate to end the month this way, but there's simply no way to feel anything but overwhelming grief and loss after the month we've had.

If you translate the bible into English so anybody can understand it they'll find out there's nothing in it about "indulgences." Whoopsies. It was kinda like carbon offsets but for sins. Don't mess with the cash flow. It's not like the messianic figure you based your religion on threw money-changers out of a temple or anything like that. As a fellow atheist friend who escaped from Catholicism put it "the Catholic church as always been a business."
You mentioned the English Bible coming from Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. The bigger problem was creating an English translation from *Latin* manuscripts, which were already one translation removed from the original.
We are in a never ending Twilight Zone episode! Arhhhghh!!
My understanding it that ya gotta burn the body and throw the ashes in the river so that there are no relics left for followers to worship. I guess it’s a problem if people can gather around the toenail of Joan of Arc for a prayer circle.
