WOTM: Religions Make People Stupid, Tim Barnett, Part I

Hey gang! Hope your October is going well. I have a three part series for you looking at a Tim Barnett video looking at an Alex O'Connor clip. So we're three layers deep into this inception.

Alex pointed out that Eve was condemned for eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil BEFORE she had the knowledge of good and evil. So Timmy came along to tell us that we're missing the context of his Con Text, and that words don't mean words. Then, he mixed in some talking out his ass! Classic Christian excusegetics!

Gonna post parts two and three without comment as I have to get back to my writing! I fly out on the first to finally meet my six month old granddaughter, who is clearly the cutest thing that has ever existed in any universe. Don't argue with me!!! 😘 I'm trying to wrap up the month a bit early so I don't feel so stressed.

Thank you all so much for all the continued support. My gratitude is off the charts!!! Enjoy! B

What was an evil seditious being, the serpent, doing in sinless paradise in the first place? Wasn’t paradise supposed to be a place of sinless moral perfection? Adam decided to disobey God in his pre-fallen morally-perfect state despite direct contact with God and did so in an apparently short amount of time after his creation. I guess Adam wasn’t so perfect after all. How does perfection lead so quickly to corruption? Seriously, couldn’t God have created an innocent, sinless, morally-perfect, free-willed being able to go more than a few days without disobedience? Shouldn’t God bear some responsibility for this unfolding of events, if not the primary responsibility?

Is there a logical fallacy describing the act of flipping back and forth between two mutually exclusive excuses? The Teeter-Totter fallacy perhaps? 1. "They had knowledge of good and bad." 2. "Then why couldn't they eat of the tree?" 3. "Because the god didn't want them to have knowledge of good and bad!" 4. "But then how did they know eating of the tree was bad?" 5. goto 1

Excusagists love playing the context game, playing word games or making false analogies to make the text mean something else entirely. Either that or a motte and bailey fallacy where they’ll try to distract you with something the text doesn’t say (defending slavery as indentured servitude) Even his channel name is an excuseagist rebranding of "red pill" logic into "red pen" logic just to avoid comparisons it to toxic communities online.

Procrastination! Great to have you here!!! Have you been a patron for long? I don't remember seeing that screen name. It's so good I'm seething with jealousy!

Ditto on the above re your granddaughter! As to Tim - another excusigist ordinare! This is all reminiscent of the saying, not sure who originally said it, that is easier to fool someone than to convince them that they've been fooled!

Cherish that precious granddaughter! Let's hope that the world she will inherit will not be ruined by the climate crisis and the cretins who think it is a "hoax." Come to think of it, I bet'cha Tim thinks there's no reason to worry, 'cuz "Gawd" will solve the problem.

God promised He wouldn't destroy the Earth again. That's why they're so pissed about the rainbow flag.
