WOTM: Existential Jenga
It looks like we have unanimous agreement about me posting these as I finish — rather than the big dump at the end of the month. So that's what we'll do from now on.
This video is about the web of dependent, interconnected beliefs one has to embrace when adopting a religion. And how that web CAN be dismantled when leaving faith behind. Allowing us to be more agile, free to examine the world unencumbered by that web of belief — traveling lightly, and keeping philosophical commitments to a minimum.
Thanks again for all your continued support. Enjoy!!! B

Good stuff. It puts me in mind of a Stewart Lee bit about people who still believe in the Loch Ness Monster; "Now see, I don't know anything about zoology, biology, geology, geography, marine biology, cryptozoology, evolutionary theory, evolutionary biology, meteorology, limnology, history, herpetology, palaeontology or archaeology, but I think; What if a dinosaur had gotten in the lake.'" The sheer variety and amount of verifiable science you need to ignore in order to take the old testament as gospel is breathtaking. Incidentally I misspelled 'gospel' so badly that autocorrect suggested I meant 'goosestep' which is not entirely wrong.
This reminds me of when, like you, I was a Mormon missionary and on one occasion I was telling a young man about Moroni appearing to Joey Smith. His response was: “I saw the Virgin once!” Erp…!
Love the word coinage: apatheist!
Are you also familiar with his 'evangenitals' or 'excusigists'?!
Just wanted to first at anything. Brilliant as usual Mr. D.
