WOTM: A Natural Explanation For The Empty Tomb
Alright, I confess. I'm goin' all "Paulogia" on you for this one. I have come up with a naturalistic explanation for both the empty tomb and Joseph of Arimathea. Even though I personally suspect that Jesus' body was left on the cross to rot, or thrown into a mass grave as was the common practice of the Romans.
As far as I know, this is the simplest explanation for why, if there really was an empty tomb, people started believing that Jesus had risen from the dead. There's the tiniest bit of me that offers this tongue-in-cheek. But I really do think it's a plausible explanation given the data.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Enjoy! B

There are no “facts” that need explaining. That Jesus existed is not a fact. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and there was an empty tomb are not facts. There is only one fact: We have documents written in Greek copied centuries later containing stories. The contents of these stories are not facts, supernatural or otherwise.
That's brilliant! Simplicity itself!
There is another explanation that is something we see all the time in good fiction…The plot required it.
Brian Even simpler . . It's all just made up . . . Romans did not allow crucified people to be removed from their cross, they were made an example of . . on the 3rd day Jesus would still be up on the cross . . the only way off the cross was via decomposition . . as bits fell off . . That being said . . the Romans being anally retentive record keepers . . . NO ONE was ever crucified during Pass Over . . . Oops . . .
I love the simplicity! It even accounts for the angel saying why do you weep!
Makes sense! My explanation isn’t “natural,” but I purport it fits into all such religious beliefs: the whole tale is made up, fiction, never happened.
I'm with you. Just trying to play their game.
