Development update - Chapter 1 Part 4
Hi everyone,
After much thought and consultation with others, I value their opinions and have decided to split part 4 into two release phases. The last scene of part 4 is getting big, big enough that it feels like it needs a separate update. I want to give it the care it deserves and not make it feel rushed. I really want to finish it ASAP, but not at the cost of quality or by making it feel like I just wanted to finish. This is not my goal. That means I will release an update soon. If you are not on Lauren's route, it's better to wait for the full release of Book 1, because it will probably feel short for you. I didn't want to release it like that because I wanted to give all the players a chance to enjoy their favorite characters. But sometimes life has a different plan. So here we are. I kinda regret not doing that two months ago. But it just means that the full release will be closer to this release. In the end, it makes sense to do it. It will give you, the supporters, more game content while removing pressure from me and letting me be fully focused on the last scene, which definitely needs it.
The release will include four scenes. Again, if you are not on Lauren's route, you'd better wait for the full release. But if you are, I think you don't want to miss this update. The update will include ~1800 renders and 14-17 animations.
I already started to work on it this week. And this is a magical part of the development. I started assembling the pieces. Others will call it coding. But it's so much more than that. It's taking those static renders and bringing them to life! Attach text to the renders and make the characters - humans! Searching hours for music and adding it at the right moment, fixing things here, fixing things there. This is the most satisfying part, because after so much hard work and dedication, I can see my vision come to life.
So two scenes are already coded and tested by me, and now I am starting work on the last two. Hopefully, I will be able to finish fast and get this version to beta testers and proofreaders so I can polish it and declare release dates.

I also wanted to thank all of you for your support and patience. As you already know, I put a lot of thought and care into what I do. I know it may feel like it takes a lot of time to accomplish what I want. But I have no other way of doing that. I hate cutting corners. I hate when things feel rushed. This project is close to my heart. I am not going to give it less care cause I want to release it already.

I absolutely would've had no problem to wait longer before you release something as I am a fan of a full experience that doesn't feel like it's "limited". Especially when this part now will focus only on Lauren. We've all waited for quite some time since the last update and I am used to wait when it comes to AVN development. Quality takes its time. Cause if that means waiting for part 2 will take the same amount of time like waiting for the part you're about to release I don't think it's a good idea. Lauren for example is not my favorite and I personally wanna see other characters (not a surprise if I say Gio). So overall, waiting a little longer to get the full experience of this chapter wouldn't bother me personally at all. If we end up getting a "shortened" update that focuses primarily on a single character, then I'm not sure how I would feel about that. Because if I'm understanding this correctly, it would then take quite a while again before Part 2 arrives. And honestly, I'm not sure that would be the smartest approach.
Hey Sonata. So, first, this part will include two story-related scenes. Those scenes are crucial to the story. I can't tell who will participate in them cause that's a spoiler. Also, I might not have been clear enough: what I am doing now is not negatively affecting the release of the full version. On the contrary, it helps me. I would need to do it anyway - code, test, fix, select music and sfx, do post-work, QA testing, and proofreading, and this is also a breather for me. Also, my next release won't start from scratch, since I already have ~700 renders for it and almost all the dialogue is written. And I won't need to code the 1800 renders and dialogue for the full release. You won't need to wait as long for this release. This isn't how I wanted it, but I have no choice. I don't have an advertising team, and no one, literally no one, is helping me spread the word. More releases mean more exposure, and I need it now. Developing a game for a sole developer is not only about the game, but also about exposure, letting people know it lives and breathes, and in the future. While other devs with the same amount of time on the market as I have already have 5-10 releases. I only had 3, and if you've been here a long time, you'll know that my first release was bad. In general, that means less exposure. You can choose to wait for the full release or play the upcoming update; either way, it won't affect the full release for players. I hope this helps you understand my side a little better.
I always see you active on your Discord, having a good time, responding and spamming the "KimHeart" emote. I wasn't aware of the pressure to release the new patch so urgently 😥. I don't think anyone would have a problem about splitting the content into smaller parts and releasing them sooner 😎👍. May I ask how many Chapters or Books Neo's story will comprise?
