Hisoka literally stared at the boys asses and people are defending him. It’s obviously a sexual thing which makes him easily a pedophile. He’s one of my favourite characters just because of his like style and vibe but obviously he’s a pedophile.

I always black out on how bad hisoka is until I rewatch I have the same sentiments I like him because he is fascinating in terms of a long standing antagonist but he makes it hard to like him with the things that he does
Chimera Ant and Yorknew are completely different arcs in content and appeal to the audience. Its not like "if you like Yorknew you gonna love CHimera ant". its quite the opposite really. They capture almost different audiences. And the only thing ppl complain about CHimera Ant is about being long and not action packed every 5 seconds. They complain about just the things that make it so great. So its a matter of fundamental understanding of the media. Chimera Ants have absolutely EVERYTHING a good story should have. But some people only like some very specific select things in their shonen. Its like: Chimer Ant is a wonderful Strawberry cake (if you like strawberry's or not is not important in this analogy right now) but most shonen fans only like simple-and-plain-everyday chocolate cake, and anything that is a little different than that is "MID". But i know you girls are not like that. Chimera Ant Its gonna become your favorite arc by far, i guarantee it
You’re kinda underselling Yorknew and some of the other arcs imo. They aren’t average shonen arcs. You don’t have to have a preference for action to like them more. CA is fairly action focused as well, maybe even more than Yorknew. For me, Yorknew featured characters I cared more about. It’s just a matter of character attachment and development for me. Setting as well is an important factor.
Hisoka gets hard when he sees powerful people. The scene in todays episode doesn't change that. If Gon and Killua were weak or ordinary or had no potential he wouldn't give a shit for them and he would feel no attraction; Proof is that Hisoka got hard for Chrollo and Netero as well. His attraction is 100% escalating with their strength regardless of age or gender. Its like getting excited when you meet someone that likes the same things you like. You might not find that person physically attractive but their hobbies excite you... somethign like that. I merely explaining the situation, not defending it
Idk, I lean to him staring at the kids' butts means that he has some level of physical/sexual attraction towards them. It's like how some people may have foot fetishes, but they usually or especially like feet on someone they find good-looking. Because that person's "hot", they might admire other parts of their bodies. That's how I see it anyway.
Killua's smarts is like one of my favorite things. I love that the story shows that he's smart but he can still draw incorrect conclusions because he lacks all the information. The way HunterxHunter handles Information assymetry(When certain character don't know certain things) is one of my favorite things in all of anime
hisoka is an interesting character but yes, his pervert side is unfortunate. but I can’t wait for you to see hisoka in the future bc he’s gonna become more and more interesting
Maybe it’s just me, but I always thought Hisoka was the best part of both this arc and heaven’s arena as well. There’s just no one else who does what he does in this narrative. *Semi-spoiler for next arc* how do you think they’ll react to Palm?

I like his character because he's the epitome of a predator. His desires transcend all barriers and he can only appreciate those desires if there is the possibility of total death for himself. It's pure, unadulterated hedonism in a show about following your desires (or dreams) and how you choose to follow them. It's one of those rare cases where I find the Phantom Troupe to be more principled than Hisoka. He's designed to make you uncomfortable and you cannot resist nor change him if he deems you worthy of his attention. You can only skirt around him and pray that fate doesn't bring you near him. There's very few exceptional people that can challenge his world.
Idk.. Ever since I firsted watched hxh for the first time back in 2011 (when it was actually airing, I caught up to the show during the chimera ant arc & have watched the show beyond over 10 times on my own own & from other reactors) Hisoka was always one of my favorites. From the get go. How he's such a gray area character/how he isn't particularly "good" or "evil" just honestly has his own agenda and lives life the way he wants to, really intrigues me. He has his weird turned on moments, sure, but I think he truly does want to see Gon & Killua both (mainly Gon tho) grow and become stronger (for their own benefit AND his so he can eventually fight them). I also love his character design, his VA, and his theme music *spanish guitar* lol its just all so great & different. A VERY memorable character for sure.
During Heavens Arena, without him, Gon & Killua would have went to the next level stage without even having been given a "taste" of Nen & having to deal with it full force completely ignorant and potentially ending up crippled like the others. In a way, I kind of feel like he watched out for them.
I think some fans are being willfully ignorant of what the anime is showing them using the camera, animation, and literal dialogue. It seems like they feel dissonance about being entertained by a character that is explicitly coded as a pedophile, to the point of the show joking about it ("walk ahead of us" was an attempt at humor). Hisoka wants to fuck kids, and he happens to be a compelling character. Two things can be true! If anyone needs it, I will personally absolve you of any guilt for finding Hisoka to be an interesting character. Go in peace, child.
I have watched this show a lot of times already and I disagree on your take that Hisoka wants to fuck kids. He is attracted to strong people, be it young (Gon, Killua), middle aged (Chrollo), old people (Netero), and there is no scene in the Anime or Manga that shows he wants to fuck them sexually. If you disagree, give me an example where Hisoka does sexual acts or even thinks of sexual acts. It's purely just your interpretation.
This may be a hot take but I like Hisoka and I can tolerate his "unique" personality since he doesn't act on them sexually. Even if you say he is attracted to children, he doesn't do anything weird to them except wanting to fight them, which is kinda okay I guess.
I'm always captivated by your insights on characters' personalities and behaviors. To me this is very interesting and important in an anime
Yea it’s kinda a hit or miss with Hisoka’s character lol. Either you love him or you don’t care for him no really in between. But overall Hisoka’s character is one of the highlights of the series and is really loved.

Yeah fans are incredibly willfully ignorant about Hisoka. He's the #1 reason this show is so hard to recommend to people. The good news is, I'm pretty sure that this episode and the battle at Heavens Arena are as bad as it gets for the overtly in-your-face stuff. Side note, I just caught up with Jujutsu Kaisen (anime only) and holy SHIT that show is really, really good.

Yeah I don't agree at all with any commenters saying Hisoka is just attracted to power. He is ALSO attracted to power (see: Chrollo), but he wasn't exactly staring at their "power" in that scene.
To me he is just attracted to power. The meaning of that scene is not that Hisoka is turned on by kids' butts, he is attracted specifically by what Gon and Killua's butts represent, Gon and Killua are maturing and becoming what he is expecting them to become. He doesn't manifest anywhere in the show a desire to have sexual intercourse, he wants them to grow up to fight them
