Gonna sound completely misanthropic, but the idealized advocacy for humanity is very much privileged.
Dunno if guys know, probably no one commented about this, so I'm going to tell you.....that was Howard Hamlin from BCS on the phone as the recording! Not the actor Patrick Fabian, but the actual Howard Hamlin attorney at law, because this clearly takes place in the same universe.
Here I am turning up 2 days late with my Howard Hamlin fact, ready to blow minds
HAVE THEY MENTIONED WATCHING HOUSE OF THE DRAGON?
shocked you guys didn't recognize Howard's voice
L & M's only weakness is EASILY their poor ability to recognize actors' faces and voices lol. They'll perfectly analyze characters and their motivations and follow along with the plot, nary missing a beat. But then they will spend MANY minutes being confused about whether the Pirate Lady is the same lady who was on the plane lol
When this episode first aired I saw the WILDEST theories going around about whether the wolves were 'natural' wolves or were somehow part of the Hivemind. For me it's obvious that they were just animals acting on instincts to get at food, but other people were saying that they're not acting like "normal" wolves and that it's the Hivemind trying to scare Carol into asking them to come back. I don't think anything is "too low" for the Hivemind, but that just seemed ridiculous to me and I never took it seriously. ---------- Regarding "got milk?", it was an advertising campaign that started in the mid-1990s to get people to drink more milk. it was MASSIVE in the USA, with major celebrities taking part. There were memes and viral content before we knew what memes and 'going viral' was.
I think a big issue with the other 12 is that Carol is just a really bad messenger. She is a white American middle aged woman and it shows. She’s loud, sarcastic, and arrogant. Don’t get me wrong I love Carol, but she is who she is. I mean first off, she only requests to meet the English speakers, and then when she does meet up with everyone, she is frankly overbearing and insensitive to everyone’s situations. She is telling them what’s right and wrong as if her words have more importance than theirs . (She is right but still). She’s just very American and it rubs people the wrong way. Plus, life in America vs life outside of America is very different. We definitely face our own issues here in the states. But because of western imperialism the rest of the worlds issues are a different monster. We can’t begin to understand how the rest of the world see’s the world because we come from a place of privilege.
You could not have said this in a better way, and Im saying this with my really high status of non-american!
Even a hivemind virus with the combined brainpower of 8 billion humans has to set boundaries from time to time
“You’re in a America don’t you have a gun” 😭😭
Fun Fact: The voice from the phone recording is Patrick Fabian (Howard Hamlin)

Patrick Fabian (Howard Hamlin) did the "We just need a little space" recording on the phone.
I'm stuck late at work while they fix our air conditioning (Of course it breaks during a massive heat wave), but that means I get to watch this since I have nothing else to do. So thank you for posting this just for me!
So, did it take you 2 or 3 days, total, to watch the season? I feel like you both were glued to it :D
Another one that has so many levels in it! Where to begin? In this episode we see again how resourceful Carol is, using all available information she has and clues to find out more about the joined. What is important also is to speculate about the reasons she doesn’t convince anyone but Manousos. For me, the biggest mistake Carol makes repeatedly when dealing with the other individuals is not considering their individuality while championing it. In other words, Carol thinks still that others should think as she does (ironic given the circumstances) and not in how for example Laxmi is terrified about what the therapy would do to the bodies of her family members. Or as I said how many of those people of the global south had previously been insecure and now there’s no crime. Or how they were materially deprived and now they don’t have to worry about it. Of course Carol’s arguments are most compelling and we probably nod our heads along with her but it is important to note that we have less access to the other’s interiority so we need to be mindful what if you became an individual in the middle of the sudan war? Would you be eager for things to 'go back to wjere they are supposed to be'
This ep is so scary😭😭
The isolation and the tone shift is jarring, for sure
