Holy hell. I wanted to try watching this on Netflix and DAMN. Wheres the music?! Glad I have the dvds 😭
The best anime of all time
Llevaba años sin ver la serie y que buen primer capitulo la vdd El sonido de las cigarras es mega iconico, la banda sonora, la animacion de preparacion y lanzamiento del Eva 01 es increible
After the series I'd just watch End of Eva, no need for every single movie. The rebuilds are a reboot of the story set in a different continuity that introduce new characters and change existing character arcs in rather detrimental ways. While the animation is improved, the narrative of the reboot just doesn't hold up to the original. Not really worth watching unless you've already got years of nostalgia and you're really yearning for some more Eva content.
hooly shit yesss
In a world filled with bad anime dads trying to out-bad one another, Gendo Ikari sit unchallenged upon the throne. Truly, the bad anime dad other bad anime dads aspire to be.
FR, Made in Abyss has nothing on Gendo. i honestly can't think of a worse father in any fiction.
no way
The Watch Order for Neon Genesis Evangelion: The 26-episode original TV series → The End of Evangelion (EoE), on Netflix→ The Rebuild of Evangelion Tetralogy (1.11 / 2.22 / 3.33 / 3.0+1.01), on Amazon Prime Video First off, "The End of Evangelion" is an absolute must-watch. It serves as the true final ending to the original TV series, because the production company completely ran out of budget when making episodes 25 and 26 (although eps 25&26 actually ended up cementing EVA’s status as an artistic masterpiece). The End of Evangelion was made to give a much clearer, definitive picture of what actually went down during the finale. I also highly, highly recommend watching the four Rebuild movies, please. EVA is, in many ways, a deeply personal and emotional expression of its creator, Hideaki Anno. The End of Evangelion came out back in 1997, whereas the Rebuilds started in 2007 and didn't wrap up until the final movie dropped in 2021. Even though the Rebuilds might look like they're telling the exact same story at first glance, they are absolutely NOT just a simple remaster. It is a completely different timeline. Many characters' personalities and even the plot directions shift drastically as the movies progress. It beautifully reflects how Hideaki Anno’s own mental state and inner world evolved over more than twenty years. Getting a chance to witness a creator's personal growth over two decades through a single franchise is incredibly rare. On top of that, from the first Rebuild movie to the fourth, this series spanned the youth of an entire generation (at least, it was my youth). That’s why I desperately want you guys to see the Rebuild movies through to the very end. Please, I beg of you_(:_」∠)_
Yes! Please watch the Rebuilds for closure, I feel like a lot of the people in the comments who say it's not necessary probably haven't actually watched them.
General info: Of the six movies, the first is a recap and the last four are a reboot. Only "The End of Evangelion" movie is canon to the original TV series. Episodes 21-24 of the anime have "director's cut" versions which are uncensored versions after the TV broadcast was censored. If you are watching on Netflix, they have these already, but if you are watching elsewhere, I would make sure you get the director's cut. "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is Greek. Evangelion means "good news" but is also the word used to refer to the gospel of Jesus in the original Greek. All together the name means "Gospel of the New Genesis"
I gave the girls this link: https://archive.org/download/neon-genesis-evangelion_1080p_adv_1996/neon-genesis-evangelion_1080p_adv_1996_archive.torrent I can confirm that episodes 21 to 24 here are the Director's Cuts. The runtime for episode 21 is 29:22, episode 22 is 28:45, episode 23 is 25:30, and episode 24 is 26:15. All of them are longer than the 23-minute TV on air version.
I can't believe this is real! Couldn't be more excited
LM and Eva is the perfect pair. And yes, as lots of people are probably telling you right now, you only need to watch episodes 1-26 and then "The End of Evangelion".
Peak is here
On that note, please don’t forget about Steins;Gate. We Lab Members still haven’t lost hope for a future reaction. I’d also love to recommend movie reactions to Your Name, Project Hail Mary, and The Godfather Part II 🥺
About the movies, only "The End of Evangelion "is truly essential. "Death & Rebirth" is mostly a recap film, while the four "Rebuild of Evangelion" movies are essentially a separate continuity or alternate retelling that gradually diverges from the original story. They’re also widely viewed as Hideaki Anno’s personal closure to Evangelion, so they’re optional and you can decide later whether you want to watch them or not.
Rebuild movies are the only good ones. End of Eva is a movie for cowards and perverts.
