I think you really do need to watch the original trilogy now. 🗳️

Honestly, great reaction. Andor and rogue one were some of the absolute best that star wars has to offer. The original movie follows immediately after rogue one, which makes it a decent watch. But honestly after that Star Wars drops in quality. There’s some great stories in the various shows but you would have to go through a lot of garbage to get to them.

Disney Star Wars has been abysmal. That’s why we want you to watch the original Star Wars. The only thing Disney Star Wars has done correct was this movie and by leaps and bounds Andor which is a sequel to a prequel .. lol The Mandalorian was also good for the first two seasons. Everything else that made Star Wars a 40 generational IP was a storytelling before the Disney takeover. To be completely transparent, I don’t doubt that Andor may still be your favorite when all is said and done, but that is only one of the few stories that they managed to tell correctly and exceed expectations. I’m rambling a lot. I hope you guys take this journey and form your own opinion. But I’m going to say what every Star Wars fan will say… and that’s the best story in Star Wars is not Luke’s story ….. it’s Darth Vader And girls I’ll guarantee you you will love Darth Vader more than Cass

Dallas Winston · June 11, 2026

If you guys rewatch the first movie after this movie, you would appreciate it all the more that goes to say the same with episode five and six cause that’s the rebellion that this was built off of

I’ll Fund/Endorser the enter 6 movie reaction series. I followed the entirety of This reaction series so I’m aware that they’ve seen episode 4 and 5. And I know they don’t react to movies very often. That being said, If you guys pursue to watch the Movies on your own I’d still be so happy! This universe is so amazing and I just want everyone to experience it. I’m such a huge Star Wars fan and it’s the original 6 films that gave us all these other amazing stories. As much as he loved and/or it was still birth and a galaxy far far away! Without Star Wars, there would be no Andor!!! That being said, Andor is one of the best written shows in all the stars franchise. I guarantee you your favorite story does not exist in this timeline. When I got through a broken man, a broken home, broken love, broken existence that’s the existence of Darth Vader. And the man that turned into an absolute monster. I think it would be a huge missed opportunity, not to react to the absolute peak of the entire Star Wars universe, which is Anakin Skywalker‘s fall!! Again, I will endorse these reactions!! Thank you, Lola and Melina!!!

I've been a SW fan for a long time and I think Andor is far and away the best thing in the SW universe. It has completely upstaged the original movies. Agree - the right way to watch is Rogue one - Andor - Rogue One again. And when you watch the original SW movie again, you see the end of Rogue One spelled out right in the opening crawl about how rebel spies stole the death star plans. Really adds a ton of weight. In hindsight it's a story they needed to tell, and they did such a good job of it.

C
Clive KLG · April 3, 2026

Despite the Focus of the films on the Skywalker line, Andor is imo the most important person to the Rebellion.

Love the discussion on Andor vs other star wars. I really think that Andor captures the spirit of Star Wars. It has a very different focus and feel which makes it stand out from the more stage play esc movies. Clone wars is the closest to it's themes but being a kids show centered around Jedi makes the approach very different. But Star Wars has always been about imperialism through the lenses of wizards in space. Andor gave us the same world and themes just changed the subjects and lense. Which means that the long term fans who have been getting tired of the same lense love Andor. The people who love seeing Jedi and the traditional Star Wars lense find it hard to get into. Personally its my favorite piece of Star Wars media.

Comparing the scores to Rogue One and Andor feels really off-putting. I’m just not a fan of that “chaotic,” typical Star Wars style of music. I much prefer the suspenseful, calm, and emotional tone that Andor puts front and center. The best example is that YouTube video, “Rogue One Ending but with Andor theme”, it genuinely makes the scene so much better, it’s not even a question.

Have they said when they plan on watching A New Hope? I think a nice sweet spot would be for them to watch the Original Trilogy exclusively to see how the story "ends". No real need for them to see the Prequels, Sequels, or anything else really.

Z
Zach P · April 13, 2026

I personally think there’s a chance they’d enjoy the prequels a decent amount. The writing and acting is definitely many, many, many levels below Andor but the story itself about the rise of fascism is pretty great

First of all, I loved your reactions to Andor so much that I couldn’t wait to see the last arc so much that I’ve signed up to your Patreon specifically to see those and this film, you’re easily the best reactors out there 🙌🏻 Secondly, I wanted to mention the musical score of Rogue One is by a composer called Michael Giacchino and it was made in a very short space of time, I think about six weeks, which is an incredibly tight turnaround for a motion picture score. I’m a huge fan of Nicholas Britell’s score to the first season of Andor: I think it’s genuinely a masterpiece and a significant part of the experience and success of the show. Brandon Roberts’ score for season two is also great, as he deftly scores the emotional beats very well. Michael Giacchino’s score for Rogue One is very different tonally as it’s written to feel more in line with John Williams’ seminal Star Wars scores, and there’s a moment in Rogue One that I think really stands out as him blending his own musical style into the larger Star Wars feel, and it’s pertinent to the story of Andor. After the Death Star’s wave of destruction hits Jyn and Cassian, it cuts to an orbital shot of the explosion and the score…it “breathes” for moment, or rather the strings let us as an audience breath…and then the shot dips and pans to follow Vader’s shuttle and the flanking TIE Fighters as they head to the rebel ship that received the plans. The score grows darker and more ominous as it follows the ships. It’s as though we’re saying goodbye to the story of Andor and Rogue One, and being led into the world of the original trilogy. It’s beautiful.

P
Payam Sharifi · March 19, 2026

As wonderful as the good guys are, one of my favorite things about Andor/Rogue One is all the pathetic middle management fascists with huge egos. I love that we get this ladder/hierarchy of them, from Cyril to Dedra to Krennic to Tarkin, and one by one watch them be betrayed by their superiors. All nobodies in the grand scheme of things. Hard to think of a better portrayal of fascism in media. Self-serving ideologies are ultimately self-destructive (I say to myself trying to cope with this horrible period of history we're in lol).

T
Tami · March 18, 2026

When I suggest Andor to anyone, I always tell them to watch Rogue One first if they haven't seen it already, then watch Andor, then rewatch Rogue One, then Episode IV. There are so many scenes in Andor that really impact you differently if you've seen Rogue One first. Like when Bix leaves the goodbye video for Cassian, and she says, "And when it's done, when it's over and we have won, we can do all the things we ever wanted. I'll find you." Or when you see the series ending with Bix in the field. When you know what happens to Cassian in Rogue One, those scenes are a gut punch. Or listening to Luthen's line, "I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see," knowing that the same is true for Cassian. Or any scenes with Saw Gerrera. Or meeting Melshi in the prison. Or when we meet K2SO. And rewatching Rogue One after having seen Andor is a totally different experience than watching it beforehand. The final scene in Andor leads immediately into Rogue One, and the final scene in Rogue One leads immediately into Episode IV.

Kara · March 18, 2026

It's been a hell of a ride. I'm gonna be real: No other Star Wars content is worth watching except the original trilogy, just to finish off "the Andor story". I wouldn't even bother reacting to them. I've watched all of Clone Wars (series), Mandalorian, Rebels... the juice is not worth the squeeze. They're very much "okay" (sometimes quite bad) shows with some good moments. Andor is one of my favorite shows but I have a weird relationship with Rogue One. To quote someone else: "Andor makes Rogue One better, but Rogue One makes Andor worse". My respect for Tony Gilroy and the Andor team is endless but I think it was a bit of a mistake to make it so to "complete the story" you have to watch Rogue One, then 3 more movies to see the rebellion win. Don't even get me started on the prequels or the sequels, which make things even more complicated regarding whether the story is "complete" or not. I think Rogue One is ultimately a "fine" movie, elevated by rewatching it through a post-Andor lens, adding so much more weight to his dialogue. But like... can you imagine how good this movie would be if the Andor team conceptualized, wrote and produced the whole thing? That's what drags it down for me. "Did you love the thoughtful political rebellion show? Watch those decent action-adventure scifi movie where all the characters explode at the end! Then watch 3 more movies from the 80s! Then watch 6 more movies! Then watch 8 different mid TV shows!" lmao I think it's a testament to the quality of Andor that even in spite of all that, I still think it's probably the second best TV show ever made. The fact it resonated so hard with you both despite having zero star wars knowledge just reaffirms that belief. It has *the sauce* in a way no other Star Wars project has, except the original movie (in a very different way). There are teams I would follow anywhere - like Vince Gilligan's - and Tony Gilroy's is one of them.

So a couple of things: I think you might've mentioned it in the review but there's a BEAUTIFUL edit of the ending of Rogue One but with Andor's theme. Definitely worth a watch but may make you cry again. Second, a lot of people have talked about how Andor and Rogue One have re-contextualized the original trilogy: it's not a story about a simple farm boy who gets the call to adventure and saves the galaxy; it's a relay race of people who give their lives so that the next person can move the needle a little further and finally destroy this fascist evil. Hopefully that eases the sting a bit of losing Cassian :C

C
Curtis Harvey · March 17, 2026

It's worth noting that you've seen Krennic's Death Troopers before, running security for Dedra in 1x11-12. Also, Tarkin is the guy who committed the first Ghorman Massacre.

M
Mike · March 17, 2026

A truly fascinating movie that only underlines the impossible task (and incredible achievement) that was Andor. Rogue One was already working overtime to marry its (relatively) grounded take on the SW universe to the OG trilogy. In some ways, it succeeded. Treating the Force like an old rumour on Jedda, the AT-ATs on the beach like Saving Private Ryan... but it also shows a lot of seams, especially with the (terrible) CGI Tarkin and Leia. Before Andor, I would have said Rogue One should have cutting that Leia cameo. For Andor to somehow work as a prequel to this movie *and* the original high-fantasy Star Wars films should have been impossible. And in a lot of ways, it doesn't work. I think the "finale" of Andor really suffers for trying to set up this film. And then you watch Rogue One and it's barely congruent anyway. The tone is different, the music is different. Does Cassian's "lie" about prison really make sense? (At least Mon's hair is the same.) But I think Gilroy picked out exactly the right thread to connect Andor to the movie -- the hand-off between Jyn & Cassian and Raddus and the guys on the ship and Leia. It's very literal in this film, but he draws the theme all the way back for Andor, with the way Luthen, Cassian et al inch the ball forward across *years* of thankless work, so the Rebellion can be in position to sprint to the finish line and hand-off the Death Star plans at the end of the film. And it works writ small, too: Yes, it's weird to watch Jyn, a character we *just* met, give the big speech at the council and on the ship, but hearing her saying that "rebellions are built on hope", an idea she got from Cassian, and that he got from the anonymous bellhop who died on Ghorman... So at the end, when Leia says the plans they've sent her are "hope" -- and when you immediately(?) move on to watching A New Hope... That's cinema, baby. It almost justifies the bad CGI.

My mom dropped me off at the theater in 1977 to see Star Wars IV New Hope. I remember excitement of people, the lines being long, and the cost of the tickets at $3 US instead of the normal $1.25. Over the years, I have never really been into Star Wars, much less a fanatic, but I do appreciate Star Wars and glad it exists. I saw Rogue One in the theater b/c my girlfriend wanted to see it. I was pleasantly surprised. Seemed refreshing. I watched the prequels in the 2000s looking over my kids' shoulders. I would say my favorite Star Wars movies are the original trilogy + Rogue One. Again, I am not really full blown into any Star Wars movie. With that said, I never understood the rabid sheer hatred of the sequels – as espoused by a vocal tiny minority of old timers – resistant to all change, no matter the change, for the sake of being resistant to change. And then there is the Andor series. By far, my favorite SW content. Mature content for adults (grownups). Different than typical Star Wars. Not a single light saber, and I believe only two brief mentions of the “force” (later in S2). You could rewatch IV, watch V and VI – to appreciate that pop culture and see how the rebellion plays out. Or you could instead move on from SW and react to movies you might like better, e.g., Goodfellas, GF2, Aliens, Shawshank Redemption, etc.

when i first watched rogue one years ago, i thought "this is the best star wars thing i've seen." i wasn't that big of a fan of the original trilogy. they were great, and i was already an adult when i watched them all in the same weekend, but it's really aged and it was entertaining for what it is but i did not get why it was that big of a cultural thing. then i saw that they made a show about the character andor, but i didn't watch it right away. i saw it win awards and kinda read some hype about it, then i saw that you guys had started reacting to it so that's why i started watching as well. watching Rogue One now, with you guys, was quite an experience, but yeah it did not give the same feel as when i first watched it back then. idk if it's cause i finished Andor last month, or if it has aged, but i really think watching it before Andor is the way to go

P
PudelNudel · March 16, 2026

There is a series after that plays during the aftermath of the rebellion destroying the empire, it is imo the second best thing to Andor when it comes to displaying the effects on the common people especially following one sub plot that reminds me a bit of how you follow Syril in Andor. But the series is very lore heavy and towards the end starts to lean more and more into the force direction which took me out a bit.

A
Arctic_stark · March 16, 2026

As others have mentioned, this a great bridge between the more grounded side of Star Wars to the fantasy elements. It also makes a case for why the Rebellion needs the Jedi and why Mon asks Bail to contact his Jedi friend now because she knew things were about to escalate. The problem is that if the Rebellion does everything right and really hurts the Empire (like they did in this movie) then the dark wizards at the top of the Empire show up. The Rebels need their own Jedi to counter that. Its also worth remembering that while Luke is the "Chosen One" in this story, he is as much an underdog to Darth Vader as the Rebels are to the Empire. This is essentially a parallel to Avatar The Last Airbender. Luke/Aang are the Chosen Ones but they still need everyone to help them and they're barely able to stay head and survive the Empire/Fire Nation. Being able to use Force/Elements doesnt automatically solve any of their problems. There are actually a LOT of parallels between the two stories, right up until the end.

A
Arctic_stark · March 16, 2026

This has come up a couple of times in your discussion so I'll clarify that the character of Mon Mothma is in the original trilogy from decades ago. Obviously she was played by a different actress (Caroline Blakiston) back then, but the character has existed for ages. She appears in Episode 6 (1983). Mon Mothma was a significant leader of the Rebellion and its aftermath in a lot of the books that were written within the Star Wars Universe for a long time. What Lola is referring to is about this specific actress (Genevieve O'Reilly), who was introduced in the prequel trilogy (Episode 3, 2005) as a young Mon Mothma but her scenes got cut. But she was asked again to play the character in Rogue One, Andor and other Star Wars shows as well.

P
Patrick Walsh · April 5, 2026

And I think Tony was referring to Genevieve specifically when he made a comment in an interview about how some of the actors that he was working with for Andor were so incredibly better than he even realized. Partially because they were only given glimpsing chances at scenes in Rogue One. He said it was like along the lines of playing around on a piano and then realizing "oh shit this is a Steinway"

Episode V is generally considered the best Star Wars movie, and you said you'd love to know why you didn't like it. Honestly, we'd like to know too, because that's very unusual. I'm assuming you're planning to film a reaction to A New Hope (the first movie). If you also want to figure out why Episode V didn't work for you, we need to see your reactions to that one as well. And if you react to Episode V, you can't just stop there lol. You have to react to the entire original trilogy 😁

Jah_Rule_95 · March 16, 2026

Because it's boring af until the final act, which is one of the best parts in all of Star Wars, so that itself carries the movie hard.

b
boostorange · March 16, 2026

What I do like about the Rebel Alliance story is that there is no genuine main characters, ( I do believe Luke’s heroes journey is seperate to this) The rebellion is made up of normal people “moving the football up the field an inch at a time” of course the rebellion has its architects like Luthen and its leaders like Mon and the Organa’s but they are all normal people, that for a lot of its early years didn’t have a centralised chain of command until Yavin IV, was disjointed and fractured and some had their own ideas of Rebellion as you’ve seen with Mon, Luthen and Saw but they made it work to their advantage. Normal people doing extraordinary things and then handing off the football to the next to move it an inch more.

b
boostorange · March 16, 2026

I do think the original trilogy does offer full closure on the overall Galactic Civil War storyline you’ve seen begin in Andor and Rogue One

B
Biberius Caldius Mero · March 16, 2026

Nice reaction! Like Nemik and Kino before, K2S0 tells Cassian (and Jyn) to "climb". In the beginning, Cassian also shoots his informant about the Death Star (like Luthen) before climbing out of there. Unlike Syril, Jyn knows what to say when she's asked "Who are you?" I think there was also a "Who else knows?" in there somewhere? Obviously Cassian, once again acting as a messenger, passes on the bellhop's "Rebellions are built on hope" to Jyn who then uses the line in the council meeting. After bullying ISB agents in Andor, Krennic, who acts as the main antagonist to Jyn in this movie, spends a good part of this movie being pushed around by Tarkin and Vader, who are basically numbers 2 and 3 in the Empire's hierarchy. Until in the end, he's shot by Cassian and then killed by the weapon of his own making.

You might be interested in this fan who is making an "Andor Cut" re-edit of the film. I was especially impressed with one of his teasers, for the section where Cassian has Galen Erso in his sniper scope sight. This is where Galen put himself in front of his co-workers and between them and the Deathtrooper firing squad commanded by Krennic. We get to see a revelatory "retcon" that this selfless act of bravery reminds Cassian of his adoptive father Clem putting himself in danger between an angry Ferrix crowd and a line of pre-Empire Clone Troopers aiming their guns at him in almost identical fashion. And that THIS was the main motivator for him lowering his weapon and disobeying orders to kill Galen. We are also clued into a realization that the Andor "theme" music's leitmotif for the character of Cassian actually first appeared in Rogue One, and I think possibly for the first time in THIS particular scene on Eadu: "Cassian remembers his father Clem in 'Rogue One: The Andor Cut'" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EweTgLjGMF4 [EDIT - oops, didn't see that fellow patron Thoroughly Rustled had also just posted his own comment about this Youtuber.]

1:47:14 "interesting seeing why we didn't like episode 5" [Empire Strikes Back] As I replied to another earlier comment, it's actually understandable. When it was originally released in the summer of 1980, the critical reception was mixed too. It had its own tonal and narrative shifts that lots of fans didn't expect, and ended on a somber note and cliffhanger. It's mostly in hindsight that we understand Lucas had a broader scope and narrative intent, and that it is now considered the critic's choice of the original trilogy.

I guess the majority opinion seems to be it was rhydo, but I'm more inclined to side with the "minority" that thinks rhydo is likely too dangerous to carry on-person 24/7, so it's actually just [only slightly less dangerous] supplemental oxygen or whatever the equivalent to it is in the SWU, or maybe just some numbing medication (which itself could also have become a new addiction). The lifetime of rhydo exposure and eventual addiction simply destroyed his lungs.

The thing about the original Star Wars trilogy is that it was made for children. The stories are much simpler than Andor. That said, I watched Star Wars for the first time when I was 12. I was there for the cool lightsabers and spaceships, but at the same time, as a 12-year-old, I was introduced to concepts like fascism and imperialism. Even though it’s a children’s movie, George Lucas based the Rebels on the Viet Cong and the Empire partly on the United States. As an adult, I appreciate Andor a lot because it’s Star Wars for grown-ups. But as a child? Star Wars still taught me a lot, even if the movies don’t have the same seriousness as the show.

I'm not the biggest fan of this movie, but there's a few moments that hit so hard post-Andor (Cassian's speech and him being killed by the weapon they made him build in prison, oof). It was really fun to watch it through the perspective of people who'd seen the show without seeing the movie. You can kind of tell that Gilroy messed with the canon a little bit to include Luthen as a key part of the Death Star knowledge reaching the rebels as that does barely hold up here... but honestly completely fair to prioritise Luthen's story over making this movie fit perfectly. We need to go further than that tbh, I'm gonna start a petition for a new edit of the original trilogy that occasionally cuts to Vel and Kleya passive aggressively complaining about how Luke Leia and Han are getting all the credit for shit they contributed way more to.

Been waiting all day (and week) for this! This movie shows the first major fight between the Rebels and the Empire. Everything so far has been terrorist attacks and small pockets of rebellion like Aldani

F
Floweyyyy · March 16, 2026

Darth Vader is human. The thing for him to look that way is that he's a human who suffered very serious injuries (we see a bit of that when he first appears), and had to be transformed into a type of cyborg with mechanical prostheses and put into that armor that have life support systems that help him breathe and survive. The power of the force also helps him to stay alive there (if I'm not mistaken, it's said somewhere that if he were just an ordinary human without the force, with the injuries his body has sustained, he would be unable to survive the way he does).

M
Mathies · March 16, 2026

Yup. thats gotta be the most emotional reaction to Rogue 1 i've ever seen. The ending is already emotional without Andor, but it's enhanced immensely. But then, people who rewatch it after Andor already know what happens. You are truly a unique case

Floweyyyy · March 16, 2026

There are rumors that Disney (which now owns the rights to Star Wars) has plans to remake the original trilogy in an animated version. So if this is confirmed to be true in the future, I think it would be nice to see your two react to it.

Too bad you dont want to watch the Star Wars movies. I think you'd like it, also it gives closure to all the sacrifices the rebels made, especially Andor and Luthen.

The classic joke from just after this movie released: So when’s Rogue 2 coming out? 1977. I'm an Old School "Star Wars" fan, so I parted ways with the Disney version of the franchise about 5 years ago. I've heard nothing but good things about "Andor", but it's not MY "Star Wars", so I haven't watched the TV series at all. Nobody will enjoy hearing me whine about how it's not what I grew up with, so better for all of us that we part ways amicably. I'd love to go with you through the Original Trilogy, even if you come at it from the introductory perspective of "Andor" and this movie. They're still great films, and it will build off a lot of the references that you didn't get here. Rewatching Episode IV and V, then VI for a new watch, would definitely be fun to go through together. I will say that I'm very surprised to hear you both say that you disliked Episode V, because that is the one that people call the BEST of the Original Trilogy. It's the example that people point to of a sequel actually being as good as -- if not better -- than the first movie. Not everybody agrees with that obviously, but it's a pretty widely-held opinion.

t
tai4ji2x · March 16, 2026

Don't know if you're aware or need reminding, but Ep5 [ESB] actually got mixed and even some quite negative reaction when it was released all the way back in [checks notes] the summer of 1980. While box office and general audience reaction was still positive, it's arguably more in hindsight that it is more highly regarded, particularly among both general cinephiles and franchise fandom.

Mark M · March 16, 2026

"Staying up late to watch reactions? A man of your talents?" "It's a simple life"... Loved the reaction. When it released we all had seen a New Hope, but of course Andor didn't exist then. M&L were in the opposite position. Possibly the only two people in the world to recognize Saw Garrera but not Darth Vader lmao. This movie is a bit divisive but I've always loved it. It's funny, has endearing characters who feel real, just normal people from different walks of life coming together. Andor does make it better but it's still brilliant on its own. The whole third act is so heroic, the battle is incredible, everyone sacrificing themselves, then the end with Vader and Leia... absolute cinema. I'm a fanboy I won't deny it. The ending gets me emotional, and the last shot with Leia was a bit of a gut punch at the time because it was not long after Carrie Fisher had died. If M&L did go back and watch New Hope they would definitely have a new perspective on it. Would be cool to see but I'm happy they at least watched this.

The theme of sacrifice is the thread that trails from Rogue One to Andor, and now back to Rogue One. Next to my beloved Clone Wars, the combination is my very favorite Star Wars.

mrchill_77 · March 16, 2026

I really enjoy your reactions so much! I love the in depth discussion at the end!!! So as a long time Star Wars fan, going into Rogue One, I kind of figured they were all going to die in the end, because they seem too important to the Rebellion, and of course none of these characters are in the original trilogy. I don’t think it would really work to just not have them or ever mention them again. I also would say you should give Episode V another shot. A really significant number of Star Wars fans would rate Episode V as their absolute favorite Star Wars movie. And a lot of people have suggested that we need to see Tony Gilroy come back and direct a series after Episode VI where Vel and Kleya are basically Nazi hunters trying to track down remnants of the Empire. I’ve never heard him comment on it so I’m not expecting it, but it would be so awesome if it happened.

F
Floweyyyy · March 16, 2026

No, the Jedi suvivor that Bail Organa refers to is not Leia, he was referring to another major character who appears in the movies (in both the prequels and original trilogy movies).

T
Tami · March 16, 2026

Yes, the Jedi is the character you're talking about, but the "her" he refers to when he says he would trust her with his life IS Leia. So he's talking about both of them in that conversation.

There is something really viscerally haunting about Cassian's last shot as the blast approaches the beach and he keeps his eyes open at the end. There is plenty you can read into that and I know Diego Luna confirmed it was an intentional choice. That shot and the shot of Vader in the hallway are always what come to mind when I think of the movie.

Episode 4 is a really interesting movie in part because of everything in star wars that has come from that original film, but its also like a key part of American filmmaking from that era. I think its worth watching if only for its importance in the history of filmmaking in Hollywood.

i'll be watching this later rip cas :( easily my favorite star wars character, and probably one of my favorite characters in any media in general. when i first saw rogue one in theatres i had no idea how much he would come to mean to me through andor.

D
Doc_Holliday · March 15, 2026

Ladies...you now have a direct tie into the original Star Wars trilogy. That's what Cassian Andor's sacrifice in this movie resulted in. He (and Jyn) were the messengers who passed the baton (the Death Star plans) over to Princess Leia at the very end. In doing so, they kept hope alive.

F
Farbod · March 15, 2026

Gotta do New Hope again as well. Andor - Rogue One - New Hope is my favorite "Trilogy" arc. Its going to be a different experience this time.

Hugo Sinclair · March 15, 2026

to answer your question on whether Tony Gilroy thought of Andor while working on Rogue One- he was actually like the 4th different writer on this movie and didn't even create Cassian, Disney/Lucasfilm brought him in to fix up the script and direct some reshoots when they felt the movie was a bit of a mess. Then later Disney/Lucasfilm were driving the idea to do a Cassian prequel and were trying to make it work with other writers, they reached out to Tony just to ask for his feedback about a version of the show they were working on that was about the adventures of Cassian and K2 and he basically said "nah I'd probably do this" and pitched his insanely bold vision for the show. A year later they came back to him and said "actually can you make that version for us". And that's how a guy who doesn't even like Star Wars that much made the best Star Wars of all time

A small dark detail that Andor s2 dropped if you’ve seen Rogue One, is that over a few episodes Krennic and Partagaz talking about Ghorman and the need for the material (Kalkite), they mention that Krennic’s lab in Eadu (where Mads Mikkelsen’s character operates in the movie) are trying to find alternatives to Kalkite (synthetic, alternatives, etc). And then finally half way through season 2 it’s declared there’s no suitable alternative to resource and they need to go forward with the genocide. As we learn in this movie, Mad Mikkelsen’s character was trying to delay or stop the Death Star project, and he was likely the one who verified that they could not make the material for the reactor of the weapon. Whether or not he knows that his “lies” would lead to Ghorman being destroyed, I would find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t think the Empire would do something like that. In a way, it’s almost a calculated Luthen-like move by slowing down the construction of the Death Star and forcing the Empire to commit an atrocity which hopefully would spurn rebellion and prevent the weapon from being made.

So Bittersweet to see this series end, With that being said if you want more Star Wars media that’s not a movie, that’s also lengthy and good quality, I’d HIGHLY recommend the animated series Star Wars The Clone Wars TV Show it is a wonderful experience (there is a website that has the episodes in chronological order as it was released out of order)

The darth vader hallway scene will forever be a top 5 theatre experience. But i love that there are now ppl who watch andor first, see struggle against the empire from such a grounded POV, to only learn they have a literal demon on their side. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

I think I remember at one point during Andor Lola was talking about how she just wants a movie of all the imperials being shot. Rogue One isn’t a perfect movie, being a Hollywood Blockbuster and all, but at the very least I hope it scratched that itch
