Guys I think I would die if you watched one battle after another, please please get to it as soon as possible.
Theres so much less character work and interesting themes to analyze in Sinners than in OBAA, Sentimental Value or even Marty Supreme... Like polls are so bad for chosing movies because the blockbusters always win over the actually good/deep movies... Sinners isnt bad at all overall, but its simply less interesting than than the other choices and knowing Lola and Melina, I know they would relate more to the other flims and would have more to say about them.
Maybe it's just you guys who can't really analyze a movie and end up projecting knowing Lola and Milena, I'm sure Sinners will get a great review on Sunday.
I don’t know what’s going on in these comments but both OBAA and Sinners are incredible movies. And the rest are very good too so there is really no bad choice. It’s been a great year for movies.

The hate that Sinners receives is, to say the least, strange. And to reduce it to merely "fun" is one of the stupidest things anyone could say about the film.

To all the people trying to bash Sinners to uplift OBAA let me just say this. As a black woman, the depiction of Black Women in OBAA was very problematic and sometimes triggering for me. While I felt the exact opposite in Sinners. Also there are 2 standout scenes in Sinners that automatically beat anything I saw in OBAA sorry but it's just the truth. I didn't hate OBAA, and I do think overall it's a good movie, but I didn't walk away from OBAA emotionally invested in anything I saw in that movie, it did not move me the way Sinners did, I felt so connected to my people and heritage after Sinners and it's not just me but MANY people felt that way, and any movie that can move so many people like that deserves its flowers.

Please ignore whatever maybe the poll result and watch One Battle After Another. Particularly because of its underlying politics which highlights the rise of modern day fascism and white supremacy in America, which I think you two will really enjoy dissecting and evaluating. Also it has Chase Infiniti, who I think is the star of this film and absolutely nailed her performance. And also because, well, it just won the Best Picture.

i haven't seen Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value yet. i know lots of people like Sinners but personally i think a reaction to One Battle would be better. though i enjoy seeing them get jumpscared lol (Sinners has some horror elements to it which i know milena is not too fond of)

Haven't seen any of them. I've only heard of One Battle After.. and Sinners. Out of those 2, Sinners is the only one i plan on watching at some point. So i would vote for Sinners. But i abstained because i don't think i should vote unless i knew more about all the options.

They haven't because it'd be like 10+ hours of work. It has been so long they'd need to watch a recap of 1. Then the runtime of 2 is almost 3.5hrs. Add the discussion and editing that would be a beast.

Eventhough Sinners is my favorite pick here. I think the girls will love Sentimental Value. It also has Stellan Skarsgard in it in another career best performance.

Love sinners but One Battle is literally one of the best of the entire decade so far, while Sinners is just great with a really messy third act. Plus i would love to see what they have to say about it after watching Andor
One Battle After Another is objectively the best movie on the list, and will deservedly win all the major awards at the Oscars tonight. Will also resonate with both of you ladies a lot because of the themes it discusses. Sentimental Value is the most contemplative and meditative movie on the list and it has an incredible Stellan Skarsgaard, so you should definitely give it a watch regardless. Hamnet is the saddest movie on the list, don't know if you should watch it unless you're ready to just keep bawling your eyes out throughout. Marty Supreme is the craziest movie out of all of them, and is my personal favorite, but I definitely can see you not resonating with it as much. It's still incredibly fun and has this really propulsive tempo. I feel so incredibly vindicated seeing so many comments here saying that Sinners is overrated, because, Dear God, it so is. The story behind how it was made was why it became so popular and why Oscar voters felt compelled to nominate it, but I can name you 5 different horror movies released this year that did not get the same hype yet were miles better. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad this movie was made and independent cinema needs all the help it can get, but this movie doesn't deserve to be watched before any others on the list.

One Battle After Another should’ve won it. Especially for LM. Sinners was great sure, and I think the reaction will be great too. It just doesn’t hold a candle to OBAA.. As others have said, Sinners was a lot of fun, but it will be forgotten in 10yrs time. One Battle After Another is going to be incredibly important for decades to come

As someone who loves Sinners I would refrain from belittling other people's movie opinions by framing their lack of enjoyment to their media comprehension. We are all movie lovers and it's great to have varying opinions, that what makes movie discussions so compelling.

I have no dog in this fight. I'm eager to see all the celebrities on the red carpet with unhealthy Body Mass Indexes. One movie that I know you will enjoy in the future is Bound (1996). I would enjoy seeing it again, myself.

Hamnet won’t win since it’s a slow moving historical drama instead of the other action packed options, but I do recommend if you both ever have some free time. It’s very touching. Happy with any of the other options though.
Rooting for Sinners, The Secret Agent, KPop Demon Hunters, and Frankenstein. Also wouldn't mind a win for Stellan Skarsgard which I'll count for Andor!

Sinners is more of a crowd-pleaser but still powerful if not more predictable. OBAA is truly remarkable though, and the more unique film that will stand out more as years go by.
