Andor 2x12 Reaction

“Remember this: freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And remember this: the imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this: the day will come when all of these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this: Try."

Andor is the only Star Wars I've watched. I caught glimpses of the original movies on TV as a kid, learned things through osmosis, saw gifs and discussions of the newer movies. I already knew some of the major stuff that happens in Rogue One before I started Andor. And I have absolutely no desire to watch any other Star Wars but Andor will always be one of the best and most important things I've watched. I think they basically did perfectly with what they could. I so would've loved to have seen more obviously. Show me more of what Wilmon is up to, what happened with Saw and his relationship with Luthen.. how did they further build up Yavin? What happened with Mon and her family? What happened with Dedra right after the ghorman massacre? See more of Kleya and Luthen, more of Melshi, of Vel etc etc. So many more things that I would've loved to have seen explored. Yet despite that there's pieces that we don't see on screen, they tell the story so perfectly that it still works and works amazingly. Even with the limited screentime they manage to make you feel so strongly about what's happening on screen and what's happening with characters. It was a great experience getting to see this again with you guys and your thoughtful commentary and strong emotions.

I can’t explain how much this show means to me and how much I have enjoyed you girls reaction and commentary I love the way you connect with each characters emotionally and you fully get the scope and scale of the story being told. Absolutely epic. Cannot wait for your rogue one reaction and hopefully you react to Episode 4 A New Hope so you can get some closure for the overall story of the rebellion and the empire

I'm very excited to see the Rogue One reaction. I suspect you will enjoy it. But, I would encourage doing a reaction for the first Star Wars movie too, and if you enjoy that, I would recommend doing reactions to the final two movies of the trilogy. To fill the void after star wars, I'd recommend A knight Of the Seven Kingdoms or Interview With The Vampire. Both shows are right down you street

K
Kara · March 7, 2026

When I first started recommending this after S1 all those years ago I never thought it would actually happen. I believed what people said, "they'll never watch a star wars show" etc. Well, we might not be able to stop the rise of global fascism, but we can certainly make some miracles happen. I don't have too much to add. It's a near perfect show on its own - any criticisms are minor. I think some plots could have had more room to breathe and I wish it ended more definitively, rather than leading into a movie which leads into a movie which leads into 2 more movies. Watching this and Mad Men reactions at the same time has irradiated my brain. Rewatching it for (no joke) maybe the 12th time, you pick up on so much, it still hits. Kleya lives to see the sunrise Luthen knew he'd never see. Cassian is building a world for a Son he hasn't yet met. Mon seems happier in a jungle base with her awful haircut hanging with Vel than she ever was in her gilded Chandrillan embassy. Even Will and Dreena show us that you can go through horrors, be permanently injured, survive a genocide, and still find love and simple comfort and hope in community and the people you love. The central thesis of Andor, and probably all Star Wars, is "hope". Nemik's speech is about hope. They renamed the first movie A New Hope. "Rebellions are built on hope". Again and again and again the show - and by extension, the world - encourages us to give up hope. What did Perrin say at his daughter's wedding? "The galaxy delivers us a fresh basket of anxieties daily". Resistance is futile. But again and again we see people hoping and persisting and "Try"-ing, in spite of it all. That's what's cathartic. Yeah, the war isn't won. Yeah, we lost people, many good people. But Andor is ultimately the story of one man who never gave up hope that he would find his sister again, so instead channeled that "hope" into action to create a better world for all people. And it delivers that message with 10/10 scores across every metric - writing, cinematography, performance, music, set design. Even the tiny side characters get more characterization than whole main characters in some shows. And as one final, sad coda: we probably won't ever get a show like this again, because the era of peak streaming TV production is over. Disney will never pour this much money into a show again. The only reason it exists is because they already signed off on 2 seasons from the jump, and since season 2 was "the final season" they got away with huge budgets and big swings. It is what it is. Still, we Try. It still feels weird to say that a 2-season star wars prequel show is one of my favorite shows of all time, but it is. It's like: #1 Mad Men, #2 Andor. If you told me that 5 years ago, I'd have laughed at you. "They're making a prequel show about the Rogue One guy? lol. lmao." Really shows that the problem with modern streaming television isn't the ideas, it's the writing. Good writing leads all. I could watch 500 scenes of good actors on real sets having tense, perfectly written conversations.

''we probably won't ever get a show like this again'' Girl things change, the current way of things won't stay the same forever.

In real life and in fiction, it's always glorious to watch how authoritarians inveitably eat their own in their incessant desire to climb the corporate ladder of death, yet even after all their efforts there's always a bigger fish. The grunts like Syril are just the puppets of the officers like Hyne who are just the puppets of the ISB officers like Dedra who are just the puppets of Major Partagaz who was just a puppet of Director Krennic who was just a puppet of Grand Moff Tarkin who was just a puppet of Darth Vader who was just a puppet of Emperor Palpatine.

Y

I unfortunately haven't been able to keep up with the reactions at all, but with the last episode I wanna recommend a very relevant podcast called It Could Happen Here by the journalist Robert Evans, who's done reporting in countries undergoing a governmental collapse, rebellion, and revolution. They even recently did some episodes going over Andor S2! It's got useful information, strategies & guidance for anyone who participates in protesting & activism, mutual aid, or other activities with similar goals. It focuses on America but a lot of information can be applied anywhere. They recently did episodes talking about Andor season 2! The first series of episodes goes over different ways things could progress in America, a number of which are now happening, and ways to move forward into a better future. After that it moves on to having episodes with various guests discussing things like what people can do for themselves & others on an individual level & a community level, information security, organizing mutual aid groups & unions, guerrilla gardening & food preservation, ways people have succeeded or failed across the world, various skills, and current events etc.

Alex Farr · March 6, 2026

During the press tour for the last few episodes someone pitched an idea of a Vel and Kleya show as hunters of imperial officers after the fall of the empire to Tony. He liked the idea and, while he said he was taking a nice long break from Star Wars, didn't rule out the idea of something like that in the future. A few small notes: the role of Bail is played by Jimmy Smits in Rogue One (Lola should know him from the last few seasons of West Wing). Most people aren't entirely sure how much of Rogue One was done by Tony who was brought on to salvage a messy film shoot but the rumor is every interior shot was redone after he came onboard. And you two are the best, perfect for this show and giving it the respect and thought it deserves. Thank you.

K
Kara · March 7, 2026

I had the exact same pitch in the back of my mind since S1, except it was Vel and Cinta with Kleya as their operator. It's a good pitch, I hope they do it one day. "Remnant Hunters".

I'd like to thank both of you for your reactions and post-show comments to this show. These have easily been the most insightful, intelligent and emotional reactions I've seen to this story. its so comforting to me that the likes of Vel, kleya and wilmon are just on yavin continuing to be part of the rebellion yet we dont see them ever again, like first of all the rebel effort are just big enough that they're just irrelevant individuels that dont need focus in the movies but they are helping, but also we can imagine that they just survive it, if we want to.

windyMelon · March 6, 2026

If you want a show about the regular folk, A Knight Of The Seven Kindoms just started. To be fair, it shows a lot of royalty, lords and knights too, but it’s definitely more grounded than GoT or HoTD

N
Nubile Reptile · March 6, 2026

I agree Knights of the Seven Kingdoms would be a good palate cleanser series after the heavy themes of authoritarianism and resistance in Andor. It has it's dark moments, of course. It wouldn't be Westeros without them. Mostly, though, it's just a show about a hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire Egg. And it's just six episodes, each of which are only a half hour long, so no big commitment or anything.

M
Michael Rashid · March 6, 2026

This episode really is the polish on the cherry on top. Lol

t
tai4ji2x · March 6, 2026

22:07 - "Grounded" is aviation/military jargon for an aircraft or pilot being prevented from flying. This could be because of an order from a commanding officer, bad weather, mechanical malfunction, enemy attack, as a punishment or countless other reasons. This was later adopted as the term for the parenting/discipline method, like when a child is told to "go to your room" or as a punishment is prevented from joining in leisurely activities outside of home. I'm wondering if you might have been thinking of a parent punishing a child and therefore maybe it's why you giggled when Mon tells Vel that Cassian is "grounded"?

t
tai4ji2x · March 6, 2026

11:55 - It might surprise you to know that the final title card and theme music for 2x12 is actually identical to 1x01 and 2x01. These 3 episodes are the ONLY ones that didn't have an episode-specific variation. I think the intent was to signal a metaphorical set of "bookends": the start of the show, the start of S2, and the conclusion. In case you're interested, here's a set of links to all the title cards and their episode-specific intro music. S1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BopZl2FVLqk S2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4LoDzF_OoU ALSO - that channel does a great set of the COMBINED intro music. First for each 3-episode story arc, and then combined for each entire season and then finally combined intro music for BOTH seasons. These include clip montages to accompany the whole experience. It's a lot of fun: Combined S1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTlw_VrU-wk Combined S2 and S1+S2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTlw_VrU-wk If you ever ever feel an urge to "relive" the show but don't have the time or energy to actually re-watch the whole thing from start to finish, the music is a great way to do it. You might even appreciate the show even more to see another example of the sheer amount of finely-detailed care and attention that went into every aspect. The title cards alone can evoke strong emotions when you notice the different instrument choices and the overlaid melodies, matching the actual story contained in each. You can especially notice the "tribal" Aldhani flute in 1x06, how the "Rebellion" melody is overlaid into 1x10, how the Ghorman anthem is integrated into both 2x08 and 2x09, and how Luthen's theme is integrated into 2x10 and 2x11. (Yep - most of the major characters each had a musical theme associated with them. When you notice it on rewatch of the show, you realize how it really sets the tone and mood of specific scenes and story arcs.)

Lola: "the only thing you can do is remain hopefull that some change is possible". That's the heart of Star wars. The first movie that came out is called Star wars: New hope. Yes, there are whacky aliens and names but the main message is hope and none of the movies encapsulate that more than Andor. You girls get it and I'm so glad you did.

Even though I now know some scene by heart, through your reaction you managed to make me feel the same emotions as when I first watched the show, so thank you for that :) Know that I created this account just so I could subscribe here! Loved all your discussions about Andor, and your heart seems to be in the right place. Many times I was VERY impressed by how you managed to guess what would happen, or how some characters would react/evolve. You two might share the same brain as Tony Gilroy haha! Sad the show's over for you, but I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did, and you still got Rogue One to watch (and maybe the other movies, even though the ambiance is very different, you might like it). F
Floweyyyy · March 6, 2026

I think the main thing you need to understand about Star Wars before watching the movies is that any other Star Wars narrative will carry a more fantasy tone than Andor does (it will have a feeling closer to narratives like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, for example). The narrative of Andor kind of hides the "magic" of Star Wars universe. Even Rogue One carries a fantasy tone in the movie, because it shows a little more of that magic that we practically don't see in Andor (the only moment in Andor where we had a small sample of Star Wars magic was in that scene where Cassian and Bix meet that Force healer in Yavin).

one of my most fave reaction series from you girls. what a journey…thank you! in my friend group, i was the one who had not seen rogue 1 before andor, and they were curious of what i felt watching the movie after andor. seeing the movie after andor amplified my love for the show so much more. and my friends who watched andor after rogue 1 had a newfound appreciation for the movie. our common consensus was we wish we had more character-focused shows (from andor and the movie) that all culminate to rogue 1. we wanna see backstories of characters like marva, bix, luthen and kleya, and others that we meet in the movie.

R
Raphgod7 · March 6, 2026

One of my fav moments from this episode is that almost " Mona Lisa smile"scene at the end with Kleya. She felt like she doesn't deserve or be welcome on Yavin and she must feel the guilt of leaving Luthen's legacy behind. But in the end with Vel's line "You are here with friends" and she saw those resistance troopers nodding to her with a collective purpose. She felt a sense of relief and inner triumph that Luthen and her efforts throughout the years does mean something tangible and the rebellion really "flew away, it's everywhere now". Also Cassian's long walk montage embodied what the force healer told Bix in Ep7 that he's a messenger who "gathering as they go, there's a purpose to it", he might not understand it back then he understands it better now with his first hand experience on Empire's atrocity on Ghorman, saving Mon at the Senate, rescuing Kleya out of his instinct and preparing a new mission (Rogue One) against the Empire.

R
Raphgod7 · March 6, 2026

Andor was a fucking miracle under Disney. They spent over 700 million for two seasons, 24 episodes and it's worth every penny. Season 2 was easily my fav show in 2025 and it was not even particularly close. Probably my fav show in 2020s so far. It's both so timely and timeless. I think even in 10, 20 years I still remember the show vividly and be inspired by it

I’m happy to have been along for the ride as you watched this for the first time. I think Partagaz, as he was listening to Nemik’s manifesto, wasn’t moved to agree with it. He was Empire through and through, more so than Syril. I believe he was thinking, even as knew his life was about to end, that the Empire needed to find whoever created it and stop him. It’s fitting that part of his manifesto was played in the final episode. It was listening to Nemik’s manifesto in the final episode of Season One that gave Cassian the last little nudge he needed to commit to the Rebellion. I’m looking forward to Rogue One. I do think you should watch A New Hope to take the story through the Battle of Yavin. It puts a bow on the story begun in Andor. After that, it becomes its own story.

The emotional intelligence that both of you display time and time again never fails to amaze me, as I rarely see it in my own life with the people around me. I have adored and treasured your watch through of Andor, as it is one of my favorite shows ever, and to see you both understand it on a deeper level resonates so much with me. Not only is it an amazing show with a talented set of actors and actresses, it portrays life under fascism so well that it is somewhat scary to see the parallels in our own societies today. It is of course unavoidable that you watch Rogue One after this amazing series. As a non Star Wars fan so did I, but I almost wish I had not. JC · March 6, 2026

I think the ideal future watch order would be Rogue One into original trilogy into prequel trilogy into the Andor rewatch (eventually, obviously.) Forget the sequel trilogy exists. One of Andor's greatest strengths is also a weakness in that because its a prequel and exists within the Star Wars universe and narrative, the story kinda has to twist itself at the end to get all the pieces in place to line up with Rogue One which itself has to lineup with A New Hope. However, Andor's greatness and sense of weight as a show enhances all the other movies that are connected to it. I think its uniquely great in this sense and I can't think of another piece of media which has elevated it existing universe as much as Andor has. And somehow this antifascist and revolutionary love letter was produced by Disney lol. All time great show and reaction

Next Thursday is going to be such a letdown when I don’t see a new episode of you reacting to Andor in my feed!!! If you do decide to continue your Star Wars journey after A New Hope, here is what I would recommend. Of course, you have to watch the next two movies, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and then after that, the next thing chronologically is The Mandalorian, which is the next best Star Wars TV show. And then of course there is a Mandalorian movie coming out. I can’t wait until next Sunday when I get to see your reaction to Rogue One!!!

It's interesting that of all the ISB people we know, Lagret is the only one to survive unscathed here. He's in the first ISB scene, if I remember correctly, but doesn't always come across as super competent. Maybe he's lucky to have some connections? It's also noteworthy that the ISB is only one of a couple of imperial institutions that deals with "security". There were the corporations that Syril worked for in the beginning, but they were pushed out. Partagaz complains about "our cousins from military security" who he considers idiots; then of course there are Krennic and others we don't see here. At one point Partagaz hopes to secure the ISB's place at the emperor's side, meaning the ISB is competing with others for that place. The whole setup reminds me of Nazi Germany, which also had some institutional chaos because different groups (state institutions, the party, SS, SA, the army...) were kind of competing for a place at Hitler's side if you will.

obligatory to mention this: at the end Kleya wakes up to the sunrise Luthen would never see. and god what a choice to intercut that with Dedra putting her head in her hands as her prison falls into complete darkness. Loved watching you react to this, thanks guys

Thank you for all the excellent Andor reactions! I think the only way I can ever get this excited for reactions again will be when Lola finally forces Milena to watch The Lord of the Rings...

mundanelotus · March 5, 2026

I'm so glad you guys watched this show, even getting past it being a Star Wars media. Like Lola mentions, this series shines because you're not dealing with larger than life figures who swing laser swords and push things with their mind but rather desperate people fighting within their means for freedom.

but in many shows and some films there is also a lot of stuff that showcase the struggle of ordinary people

It’s interesting how when we first see Partagaz he describes the isb as healthcare providers. When he has to track Kleya he says she’s infected with a disease that could spread and put everyone in danger. Finally just before he ends it, he says “just keeps spreading doesn’t” like it’s a disease referring to Nemik’s message and the rebellion as a whole. Love this show

D
Darrach · March 5, 2026

I love the little touch that Partagaz’s subordinate was completely unfazed by the blaster sound, letting the two stormtroopers know they can lower their guard. A small but great character moment. Partagaz listening to Nemiks manifesto is also so interesting. His face and voice as he says it keeps spreading paints a vivid picture. Partagaz is one of the smartest individuals in the Imperial structure, and is shown to be very rational and surgical in his approach and thinking. Listening to Nemik, he appears to see the writing on the wall. The Empire will not last, because it cannot. It is already dead, even if nobody else knows it yet.

b
broken king · March 5, 2026

I adore Deedra’s ending (funny Lola I think mentioned her ending in a Narkina 5 type prison a couple episodes back). After failing the Empire she so fanatically and ably served her entire life, she gets tossed with the lowest of the low, she will keep serving the empire with her slave labor, till the day she dies. She will stay forever On Program. I wanna end by thanking you girls, I became a patreon because of how impressed I was from your insights on the forst episodes of rhis show, and you did not disappoint. I was also very pleased with all the comments insight and love your other patreons had, you all made my mind a bit of a sunnier space in these dark times. Rewatching the show with you has been great!

The average rating of the last 5 episodes is a 9.5 on IMDB. Probably the greatest 5 episode run of any TV show ever.

In the comment section of your Rogue One reaction, I'll ask 20 times if you are going to watch Rogue One just for the nostalgia factor.

Andor is certainly the worst and the best thing that has ever happened to Star Wars, it’s not even comparable, the writing isn’t on the same level. The domination of manichaeism and the heros monomyth gives way to protagonists full of nuance and constant inner conflict. One of the most emotionally realistic series I’ve ever had the chance to see, even as it constantly bends the laws of physics 😀

A
Alex Le · March 5, 2026

One thing to keep in mind watching Rogue One after Andor is that Andor is a side character and Jyn is the main character of Rogue One. It's not a true sequel or continuation of the Andor series, rather they took a side character from the movie and made a prequel series using them as the focal story narrative.

Given how much you both are vibing with Gilroy's wavelength, I humbly suggest you should check out Michael Clayton (2007), whether on the channel or not. It's an anti-corporate legal thriller that, prior to Andor, was already enough to make him a 1st ballot hall of fame screenwriter.

I posted this in the last episode but here it is again an interview with Denise Gough talking about politics (and Andor) she’s such an amazing lady and a rebel at heart it’s a great listen https://youtu.be/V-gdodXHv4U?si=zTw_TOK9QtG-mn0e

That's a longer form interview and good, from Mehdi Hasan's Zeteo (released in full in Oct 2025, previewed in "Shorts" in late Sept), BUT... a much earlier one from a somewhat more radical outlet, Breakthrough News (BN), was already conducted an entire half year before the one on Zeteo. This earlier one on BN (released in late May 2025) was one of the first featuring any Andor cast member that was definitively and openly pro-Pal3stine and anti-Zi*nist. This was during the release of Andor S2 itself, and Disney was being very strict [aka cowardly] in its promotional campaign, basically forcing the actors and crew to NOT use specific words including "fascism" and "gen*cide" in their media junkets. Tony Gilroy only revealed the existence of this "gag order" in bits and pieces as time went on, so we only have confirmation of this censorship in hindsight. Only about a month AFTER the release of Andor's finale did Gilroy formally obtain permission from Disney to even use the "F-word" in his mainstream interviews. Gough is a principled and courageous ally in the struggle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_omQdodjg_M

I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to these reactions 😪 What a show, honestly. And a show I watched, as many of the best shows I've ever watched, because people I trust on this community kept recommending it ❤️ Can't thank enough my old self when I decided to click on that Haunting of Hill House reaction video when I wasn't even interested in reaction videos back then.

My Toasty Toast · March 5, 2026

Partagaz in season 1 refers to the ISB as “healthcare providers” treating symptoms and rooting out disease in society. And in this last episode listening to a manifesto from someone whose name he will never know “it just keeps spreading, doesn’t it?” Then took the cowards’ way out right after.

b
broken king · March 5, 2026

Him admitting that it has “spread” everywhere means he was a failure, his whole worldview was a failure, he couldn’t contain freedom. He kills himself and will be forgotten, Nemik outlives his death, becoming an idea, a source of inspiration for billions.

Rewatching this final episode, I think it is criminally underrated, a perfect bittersweet epilogue for a perfect bittersweet show. A reminder of all the people we have lost, the heavy duty and privilege of carrying them with us in our fight. Cassian, being in his subconscious still Kassa, remembering the sister he couldn’t save, the first of a lot of family he lost to the empire.

The best show in years! So glad y’all watched it. It’s rare for a prequel/sequel to improve upon the shows/movies that came before the way this did. Masterful work by Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna, cast, & crew! Can’t wait for Rogue One!

The music that plays during that final montage is some of my favorite in all of Star Wars. Tony Gilroy said it was intentional that the music that plays as we see most of our main characters one last time stays true to the tone it has for the entire show. But, when Cassian takes off with K2, the music changes, and for the first time in Andor, there is big orchestral score thats so common in Star Wars. The music tells us the time of Andor has come to an end, and Rogue One and the bigger Star Wars story is beginning 🥲 I am so glad you both decided to give this show a chance. As a lifelong Star Wars fan who has kinda lost love for the franchise recently, this show gave me hope there are still stories worth telling in this universe. Stories that have something important to say about the world we live in. Hope you keep watching through the original trilogy to see it all come together :)
