Yay it's back! So far 3 seasons are confirmed BUT the creator said they need 4 seasons to finish the story of the 2 games. So we will probably get 4 seasons.

i wish they would react to the gameplay before the show bec the game is much better experience. IMO the game has a completely diff storyline and a much better dialogue/script which i know is important to LM.

My first time watching a full reaction video of yours in over a year! I forgot how much I missed being here for your great reactions, let alone opinions and those from the communiry too 🥹 Overall I give the experience a 9/10, I have to drop a point because I forgot how much you put your feet on screen (at least you're wearing socks) 😭

I would love to see you both play the game. I think you would really enjoy it. And I think Milena has the urge to shoot the infected herself :D

The jumpscare reaction got me rolling

I thought this season was intense, emotional, and visually gorgeous. I don't know what the people in these comments are smoking, but this show rocks

vaguespirit · May 29, 2025

It can be all those things and still have inconsistent or subpar writing. I’m not going to claim the whole season was bad but it was a let down in a fair amount of ways. A lot of people seem to think it has to be one or the other.

Dante · May 29, 2025

The biggest problem for me this season is the writing completely fumbled Ellie as a character. She is so completely different in season 2 than she is in part 2. Changes are fine and I have no problem with them but I don’t understand why they had to make her so much less intelligent and more immature than she was in part 2. It’s like they gave almost all of Ellie’s good traits from part 2 to Dina for season 2. Not to mention the tonal whiplash between her supposedly being hellbent on revenge and seeing her “community” get beat to death in front of her and her jokey teen romance moments with Dina and weird arguments with Jesse. I have nothing against Bella as an actor they’re actually quite talented but I just simply don’t buy them as a 5 year older Ellie. I put a lot of that on the writing but I also just don’t think Bella has the range necessary for this role. She was great as 14 year older Ellie. Not so much as 19 year old Ellie. And no that doesn’t mean I hate the actor.

v
vaguespirit · May 29, 2025

Maybe the writers realized she couldn’t portray Part II Ellie and we ended up getting what we did. Mold the character to her strengths. Bella was exceptional in season 1. I can’t say the same about this season.

I'm very curious about what you two have to say about this season since you're going in it totally blind. As a huge fan of the game, i personally didn't expect anything and yet i was still so disappointed lol. The writing wasn't that good in my opinion. Like why are Dina and Ellie even going in patrols if they are that reckless...? Why does Joel want to believe he's a good guy... ? Joel is supposed to be well aware he hurt and kill lot of people. I don't think it makes sense at all for a guy like him to convince himself otherwise, i don't see the point at all.

L
Lau · May 29, 2025

im really glad you enjoyed this first episode!! I personally havent finished the season yet (i was enjoying it a lot, despite of all the pain and uncomfortableness), but im eager to hear your thoughts on the rest

L
Lau · May 29, 2025

yeah in a normal world setting, she shouldnt or wouldnt be Joel's therapist hahaha shes not doing the best job bc of biases and thats why as a therapist you dont work with people you know, since you need to be as objective as possible

K
Kara · May 29, 2025

A friend of mine went to the club to hang out with her friends and one of them said "have you met my other friend XYZ?" and in walked my friend's therapist 💀

On a more positive note, I loved your discussion on Joel’s decision at the end of season 1 ( a little more in depth than most people) and the consequences of it. Y’all are my favourite reactors

Loved the reaction and discussion afterwards. I had a blast watching season 2 and I'm really looking forward to season 3. I can't wait to see the rest of your reactions in the coming weeks

I will say Ellie frustrated me to no end in this episode. Not because she was mean to Joel, in my opinion Joel broke the trust between them first so he kind of deserves whatever she throws at him. But she frustrated me by being so careless and immature. If I were the people of Jackson, I literally wouldn't trust her with any job, she was careless and she straight up didn't listen to the people in charge who are in charge for a reason, that makes her dangerous. Also her confidence in my opinion is unearned because while yes she is immune and a bite won't kill her, that doesn't mean she couldn't get killed by a Clicker ripping her to shreds if they get a hold of her. Immunity or not she still has to be careful and she flat out refuses to and it bothers me. But again she is a 19 year old and she's behaving like a typical 19 year old so we all just gotta bear with it, lol.

B
BigJo H · May 29, 2025

Yeah it’s like the girls said. This attitude was cute when she was 14 but she’s 19 now and it’s like she didn’t mature at all. Another problem I have with the writing

BigJo H · May 29, 2025

There are multiple problems I had with this season but one of them is that the show seems to think the audience is dumb. Every character has to spell out exactly how they feel. Even the psy seems to be there for that reason (not only that but it is a big part of her purpose). Also i just recently finished andor season 2 where it really does not hold your hand, so maybe that influenced it.

R
Raphgod7 · May 29, 2025

Andor S2 and the Pitt are so good

J
Julien · May 29, 2025

The gamers in these comments are so fucking annoying with the setting of expectations. I didn't play the game and I love the season. It's sad that you are disappointed but quit trying to ruin the fun for the rest of us blind watchers. My god. Edit: really glad to hear that our reactors watches the whole thing already and that the whining from gamers will not affect them.

H
HeavenlyR · May 29, 2025

Literally every comment came after they said they binged the whole season. No one is trying to set expectations, you have the most whiny post in this comment section btw

enchantertim · May 29, 2025

I'm super curious. I have a question for the people who loved/liked the 2nd game or who haven't played the game: Did you enjoy this season? (I'm not asking to people who already hated the 2nd game) As someone who loved the 2nd game, it was personally disappointing. There were a lot of changes that I didn't like. They already had a very hard task adapting this season compared to the last season, and it felt like they were trying to take precautions for some of the criticisms for the 2nd game but they over-did it I feel like. Also if we're gonna wait another 2 years for the next season, that's a big mistake on them. I wouldn't be surprised if there would be a significant drop in the ratings next season. If it's gonna be released next year than fine. But the game had a big advantage of playing through the entire story in one go, I don't know how many viewers (especially those who didn't play the game) would stick around for more.

w
windyMelon · May 29, 2025

I loved the second game. I think it’s my all time favourite game tbh.. And the second season of the show was phenomenal too.. I think the point most people are missing is that it is not supposed to be a copy of the game. Soooo many elements of the game make no fucking sense in a realistic scenario. They handled the different story elements incredibly well, and the show is entirely its own thing. You should not be watching it assuming it will follow the game. Enjoy it in its own right for what it is

S
Sam · May 29, 2025

I hope you guys get enjoyment out of this season, but unfortunately as someone whose favorite game of all time is The Last of Us Part 2, I think this season really dropped the ball on tone, themes, and Ellie specifically and the way they wrote her character.

C
Clay F · May 29, 2025

The show reality is not the game reality. In construing the show, I suggest to look at what is depicted in the show and ignore the game.

M
Mike · May 29, 2025

TLOU2 is probably the most divisive game of all time. The show is good, but by far the most interesting part of this season (for me) was the conversation it was having with the game -- when and how it deviated from the game, or changed things to make it work for television, and if those changes were or weren't successful. I can appreciate people wanting to enjoy the show on its own merits, but imo that's missing half the conversation.

k
ksg · May 29, 2025

I must say, this season reminded me so much of Arcane season 2 🫠

R
Raphgod7 · May 29, 2025

That comparison is spot on lol

J
James Long · May 29, 2025

Lots of people who played the game in the comments. I get why people can be disappointed with adaptations. But I wish people were more open minded to big changes. (This isn't me saying you have to like something no matter what) Dune is considered to be a masterpiece of a book. And the recent movies changed a ton of stuff, including major characterizations. Stephen King famously disliked Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining. Spielberg's adaptation of Jaws and Jurassic Park notably made some big changes. Lots of feelings to parse through when it comes to adaptations.

M
Mike · May 29, 2025

I think people are (mostly) open-minded about changes when they are in line with the thematic aims of the story. Bill & Frank were the best part of S1 -- that plot was wholly new, but it made perfect sense in The Last of Us. The friction I felt this season was when it seemed like they were re-wiring the themes of the story.

Y
Yami · May 29, 2025

All I'll say is, I hope you girls enjoy it.

R
Raphgod7 · May 29, 2025

I saw viral post said Bella is the most hated actor in Hollywood. The hatred towards them is just saddening. Like Bella didn't write the script and Ellie's characterization, but somehow Bella gets the most blame. The writers and directors mishandled the character and they even cut out some scenes from the trailer that would enhance Ellie's characterization.

k
ksg · May 29, 2025

As a game player, these are my thoughts without writing a 20 page essay: this season of the last of us felt like I ordered a ham sandwich & didn’t get the ham. it’s still a sandwich & I’m still gonna eat it because I’m hungry, the other ingredients taste ok & even good at times, but it’s not what I ordered & is obviously missing something important

M
Mike · May 29, 2025

Rewatching this premiere, it's fascinating to see the "don't pull punches" conversation to start the season. That should have been the thesis statement for this adaptation. It certainly was for the game. Instead, imo they sanded down the rough edges -- the challenging story structure, the lack of answers, the shape of Ellie's character arc, even the depictions of violence -- at almost every opportunity. (This is such a stupid, nitpicky thing to care about, but cutting Ellie's encounter with Alice in the finale is a perfect microcosm of the show pulling those punches.) I guess I'm saying that they pulled the ham.

N
Nyeisha Melvina Clark · May 28, 2025

Right on time with this one, couldn't wait any longer. I'm so interested to get you guy's take on things and characters. Also as someone who also hasn't played the games, I enjoyed this season but I know most game players didn't, which is a shame. It has it's issues for me as with any show (except Black Sails and The Wire which was perfect from start to finish, lol) but it was still quite enjoyable for me and very thought provoking.

J
Jack SV · May 28, 2025

This franchise is very.. polarizing. Now everyone has their own opinions about this show or the game or both. Some criticism is fairly deserved but sadly it gets buried under all the negativity surrounding some hateful comments..For this one I won’t comment my opinions and I would also recommend not reading the comments. That’s my only two cents about this show.

K
Kara · May 29, 2025

fyi they've seen the whole season so the comments can't influence their first time viewing experience

H
HeavenlyR · May 28, 2025

Hopefully you enjoy it more having not played the games. It's hard to look past some characters being completely different for me sadly. Still some great moments though

C
Clay F · May 29, 2025

Yeah, it's an adaptation of the game, not a duplication.

D
Daniel Molina · May 28, 2025

As someone who has only recently played the game, this season is not adapted well imo, but it is mostly because of the writing and the decisions they made compared to S1. The way they wrote Ellie in the show vs the game hurts the overall narrative a lot. BUT ITS NOT BELLA’s FAULT‼️‼️‼️ leave them alone 😭😭😭😭

K
Kara · May 28, 2025

Bella Ramsey is great, Isabela Merced is great. Any writing or direction issues are not their fault. People don't understanding how much of acting is direction - actors are performers, directors guide them how to perform, some are hands off but many know what they want and give extremely specific direction for how to act.
