I was so thrilled Mad Men won that I celebrated by watching the pilot... then ended up binging almost all of season 1 in one go. Whoops. Ugh it's such a great show that never fails to suck me in. I can't wait for the commentary!!

Six Feet Under S1 and S5 is ultra amazing (and has a ton of recognizable guest stars) but realistically it’s the least popular on this list. Shows that aren’t here that I would recommend are Boardwalk Empire and Slow Horses.
I really think you both could do Barry and Mad Men. Barry is only 4 seasons with 32 episodes.

I'm 2 episodes into Mad Men. So far so good.
Amazing! I think 1x12 or so was where I really got bought in on my first watch. I enjoyed the show before then for sure though. It's a bit like Succession where there's an episode in S1 where it all suddenly clicks together, and sometime in S2 it becomes incredible and (imo) stays consistent until the series finale

Deadwood and Six Feet Under both suffer because they weren't made for mass consumption and popular appeal. The type of people who are easily swayed by shiny awards and top ten lists on entertainment websites aren't going have even heard of these shows let alone seen them.

Yeah i would definitely use this as an opportunity to finally rewatch Mad Men. Haven’t watched it since it ended. Had my issues with it so I never rushed myself to watch it again. I still enjoyed most of it, and I would love to give it another go around to see if I can appreciate it more and would definitely enjoy both of yall’s insight.
They will appreciate the comedy coming from Sopranos, more laugh, less tears. Granted less discussion if they are right or wrong in how they perceive the characters. Anthony Carrigan. Sunshine. Vote Barry. Then in the long winter we can have Jon Hamm and company.

It's slower, and I think in legacy it has been eclipsed by other AMC shows, particularly Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. It also came before the heyday of reacting and reaction channels mostly focus on newer shows. However, I've noticed a few big channels (notably the Normies) are reacting to the Sopranos now. I wonder if they might then eventually move on to Mad Men, and we could get a wave of Mad Men reactions. Probably a long shot, but a man can hope.

Strike while the iron is hot for Mad Men which again unlike Barry is an older show that has only gained momentum recently while the latter is somewhat fresh in public consciousness and has a higher likelihood of being picked in the future. Mad men is well made but really gets repetitive and boring with it's constant harping on gender politics of the 1960s. Six Feet Under is also well made but honestly I thought it was a bit overrated in a lot of regards. It also has repetitive soap opera esque storylines. Please vote for Buffy or Barry.

Mad Men is one of the few ‘Golden Age of TV’ shows you haven’t seen yet, and I personally think it’s the one you’d maybe vibe with the most, deep character studies and whatnot. Arguments about lengths of shows I find absurd, it’s the long show slot they’re supposed to be long. Watch the best show not the one that’s shorter so will be done quicker.

At a good pace, you will be done with a great show like 'Barry' in two months (32 episodes of around 30 min. long each –you could even watch two episodes in one sitting–). With 'Mad Men' it'll be 2026 and it still wouldn't be finished. I think 'Mad Men' can wait a little bit...
I disagree with this way of thinking. Using this same logic, you could put off Mad Men indefinitely while you watch shorter shows. Plus, I'm not sure how much your math checks out on that. Sopranos has a runtime of 86 hours total compared to Mad Men's 73, and they're wrapping up Sopranos in less than a year. I'm sure they can do Mad Men quicker than you insist. Plus, there's already so much Barry content out there! Mad Men has an almost total lack of reactions.
Women seem to love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and since it is best when the reactors/reviewers like the show they're reacting/reviewing, I vote Buffy. Either way, since they are good reactors/reviewers and have watched The Wire, they will always have my support👍 I just wish they could get somebody to clean up their collections a little bit because they've done so many good shows people could catch up on.

Another good thing about Barry is that the 32 episodes are all around 30 minutes long , so it won't take nearly as long to get through as most longer shows. You could move on to Mad Men after that, which would take you like a year.
Out of these, I've only seen Buffy, which I would not recommend if you want to have a nice time.

Barry is great, it's not incredible like mad men but I think it would be a good watch before going into mad men. It's fairly short 8 episodes and 4 seasons. I think the girls would love it, and also please can we do movies so many classics you guys need to see still 😭😭.

Barry doesn't deserve it. It jumps the shark at 2x5 and after that its just such a shitshow of Bill Hader throwing plotlines, characters around to see what sticks.
I don't think that's true, I thought s3 and 4 were pretty great, and I thought they stuck the landing quite well with the ending for what they were going for.

Mad men just makes sense to follow on from sopranos. Some of the same people worked on both shows. If you want to round off that era of ‘the golden age of tv’ then mad men is the one to do it with.

Mad Men is probably the last great "long show" that exists. I hope that after it's done, they'll consider using the long show slot for more short/medium shows . There are many great ones that'll fill in nicely.
They clearly don't want to see it because we've been recommending it for like a year now as a natural successor to the Sopranos and they know it.
