Live Action Show Recommendations
so considering the sopranos is coming to an end in about a month we’re gonna have to give you a poll for a new long show to take that slot, so feel free to write recommendations in the comments
p.s. you can like comments from other people on shows you wanna see, it would make it easier to see the interest. and again, this is a live action slot, so no anime recommendations this time 🫶🏼

The Last Kingdom is exactly in your wheelhouse

Penny Dreadful // Hannibal. 2 goods séries
Alice in borderland!!!!
Barry
I'm way late to this, but Halt and Catch Fire is my favorite show of all time.
They would love the relationships between the female characters. Such an amazing show.
The last Kingdom would literally be your favorite show
we need a movement going for this. the last kingdom is excellent.
SOUTHLAND!
I'm like a month late and you guys made a poll already but hopefully one day y'all will get to Six Feet Under. Changed my life
What are you doing? How can you react to The Last of Us Season 1 and forget all about The Last of Us Season 2? You guys need to react to Season 2.
True Detective
Sons of anarchy
The Shield or Banshee or Nip/Tuck.
Twin Peaks would be so good. I haven't seen Mad Men yet but it seems like a more natural progression after The Sopranos, but in the future I think you guys would really enjoy Twin Peaks. It's another trendsetter that heavily influenced television after its release.
Mobland.
If you haven’t seen them then Hannibal the tv show or/and Interview with the vampire! Fingers crossed ^~^
this is super late on my part but +1 for Hannibal
Dexter :)
+1 for Dexter!!!
Random question. Any plans on reacting to The Godfather Part 2?
Barry, Mad Men, Dexter
+1 for Dexter!! So good
Lord of the rings trilogy
Community
I know everybody's saying Mad Men or Six Feet Under (both great shows) but I think you should take a break from the heavy dramas and watch something fun, like Arrested Development. It's only 3 seasons *cough* and endlessly quotable.
FROM is actually a great choice for a reaction channel. It might not be as well-reviewed as Madmen or Six Feet Under, but there are so many more shocking moments and episodes that make it suitable to this format. It's also full of mystery that will make for good post-reaction discussion. It's not the best show that's been recommended, but it might be the best show to react to, if that makes any sense.
I have to add my voice to the chorus of Mad Men lovers.
Six Feet Under - criminally underrated (Sopranos era) HBO show! Also Penny Dreadful! ◡̈
Warrior is super good
The Rehearsal
The Shield, it's in The wire/Soprano style but even better...
Mad Men, Entourage, Barry, or Succession... any of these are good enough to replace Sopranos as a bang for your buck type show. They are up there in the writing and artistic skill with Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad. I know for whatever reason reaction channels have not done these shows... i don't really understand why maybe due to social sensitivies or copyright issues or they simply are just not aware that these are timeless modern classics that are substantive. Anyways, I hope you can view these ones you can be the first to dive in and get the most views on youtube.
They've watched succession and am unsure about entourage (also not as many people recommended it). Right now, it seems out of the ones you've written: Mad Men & Barry have traction, may the best show win
ANDOR PLEASE!
Also, at some point, it would be very fun to see you react to Dark even if one of you have already seen it. It would be worth if for the other's reaction alone.
FROM Shrinking
THE PENGUIN
I'm just gonna say I wouldn't be surprised if Andor winning the Emmy best drama series over Severance S2 this year, and I absolutely love Severance S2. I think Andor S2 is THAT good.
True Detective
Honestly Squid Game is finishing in june and I think it would be a perfect time to watch it. It’s also one of the more popular shows so it would probably do well. I think you guys would definitely love it and get attached to the characters.
1) If you like Suspense/Horror - FROM is popular 2) If you like Historical Fiction anime with a strong female character - The Apothecary Diaries
Hannibal!
This is us!!!!
Boardwalk Empire - Incredible world-building, characters, and dialogue. Each episode has movie quality level production value and directing. I've seen a LOT of Mad Men votes (fantastic characters and dialogue) but something about the show makes it difficult to get through after s3/4
Oof no Mad Men is great all the way through
- Andor. Best Star Wars show ever. Enough said. - Firefly. Simply a must-see. - Deadwood. Another classic. - Silo. New show that is very interesting. Season 3 and 4 are under way. - The Shield. Kinda old, but it's the best cop show I've ever watch. I liked it even more than the Wire. I highly recommend it. - Justified. I watched it for Walton Goggins, but I was really surprised how much I liked it. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on it.
The Shield is so underrated at this point. Should be talked about in the same breadth as the wire and deadwood
Sorry, this has nothing to do with the post, but I'm not sure where to ask. I bought the membership today and I'm wondering if there is a Discord server for the channel that I could join? Thank you!

Mad Men
I hope is not too late to make some recommendations, hopefully you see this: 1) Chernobyl (HBO| 5 episodes): It's about the nuclear disaster and the sacrifice of the people to try to stop it. The director is the same one that makes the Last of Us. 2) Adolescence (Netflix| 4 episodes): It's about the dangers of social media and the consequences in the young mind. One of the best shows of this year. 3) The Penguin (HBO| 8 episodes): It's about the villain perspective of the Batman series. While normally I have no interest in superheroes, even I loved this, it was so well done and one of the best shows of last year, on par with Shogun. 4) Dopesick (Apple TV| 8 episodes): Adaptation of the book that explains how a pharmaceutical company push a product that start the opioid crisis in the US. Frankly everyone that hates capitalism and is naturally skeptical should watch this 5) Foundation (Apple TV| 20 episodes): Adaptation of the Isaac Asimov Magnus Opus that is widely considered one of the best sci fi stories ever. It doesnt follow exactly the novels, and is hated by some because of it, but is visually stunning with great story concepts to think about. It will release a season 3 in July. 6) Dark Matter (Apple TV| 8 episodes): Another successful adaptation of a more recent sci fi book, it's a compelling take on the classical physics thought experiment of Schrodinger's cat. Just don't watch the trailer, is spoilery. 7) Silo (Apple TV| 20 episodes): A post apocalyptic story, the kind that Lola loves, that follows people living in a Silo, the society that it has and what it's willing to do to make everyone fall in line. 8) Presumed Innocent (Apple TV| 8 episodes): A legal thriller of a murder that took place and how it impacts a prosecutor's life.
Succession!
They love Succession but they both already watched it
Foundation. (Peak epic sci-fi drama with beautiful visuals and complex villains.) The Mentalist. (One the most charismatic protagonists and most sadistic, mysterious antagonists in TV history). Evil. (A great cast of characters and a lot of social/religious commentary wrapped neatly in a horror package.) Forever. Prodigal Son. Blindspot. The Blacklist.
Silo is quietly one of the best shows from the last few years. It has a lot of different qualities that you two enjoy in a show. It would make a great reaction series for thoughtful people who pick up on the small details like you guys do! It hasn't got much attention so I doubt it would win a poll, but I really hope you look into & consider it.
Andor, of course, but my second pick would be Firefly.
The second season of Andor has been goddamn magnificent so far.
I don't think there's a single chance anyone here wants this but me but Psych is an amazing show!
This is us
Elementary, Percy Jackson, or Firefly!
The Americans
A big +1 for The Americans THE AMERICANS. RT 96%. IMDb 8.4 -Best TV Shows rank all time = Rolling Stone #14, Hollywood Reporter #12 -18 Emmy nominations, won 4 -Golden Globe 2019 winner Best Television Series - Drama
I watched the ranking video you made three years ago just so I wouldn’t suggest shows you’ve already seen but goddamn, you’ve watched everything already :) I'm not mentioning Andor because I assume you’ve already been convinced to watch it. You’ve been saying for a while that you guys want to try Korean dramas — Queen of Tears would be perfect for you, and you’d do justice to the title with your tears. I know no one’s going to recommend it, but I’m suggesting Halt and Catch Fire, which is one of the best drama series I’ve ever seen. If you're feeling the Homelander effect, watching Banshee could be an amazing ride. I hope Justified ends up on the recommendation list too. If you haven’t seen it, Twin Peaks could also be a great journey. My last suggestion is a bit wild — I know it’s unlikely, but watching something like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would be absolutely insane for you guys. I can’t even imagine how shocked you’d be.
I believe Lola has seen Halt and Catch Fire I vaguely remember her mentioning John Bosworth in a reaction years ago
Already mentioned by others but my picks would be Penguin (best show of last year) - (8 episodes) Silo (underrated sci-fi drama) - (20 episodes) Buffy the vampire slayer (Greatest series of all time, also a new series in this universe is in the works so good time to jump in) - (roughly 150 episodes)
I want also to suggest Alice in Borderland S3. It has been announced for release in September 2025
I'm going to suggest something that hasn't been mentioned, but I am certain you would enjoy immensely. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is an equally epic and overlooked series about the famous slave revolt against The Roman Empire. Three seasons plus a prequel season between S1 and S2 of absolute cinema, with stellar acting performances and writing. Stories of brotherhood, friendship, love, revenge and most important of all; the fight against oppression. This show ticks all the boxes of shows you have enjoyed in the past, and this one won't be any different. Don't be deterred by it's goriness and vulgarity, that is mostly the setting in which the plot unfolds. The true strength of this show is the characters and the story, which I feel is perfect for you. I know Mad Man is a forerunner right now looking at the comments, but thinking of the future also, I would at least like to plant a seed that can grow in other subscribers' thoughts, or yours. Thanks!
Alice in Borderland
They've both already watched Seasons 1 and 2 on their own, but maybe we can suggest doing a reaction for the upcoming Season 3. It would be awesome
I can't recommend Twin Peaks highly enough. It's so influential and foundational and has some of the most enjoyable and beautiful moments ever put on a TV screen.
Since I assume you're already going to watch Last of Us season 2 (and it's only a season since you already saw season 1), then there's Andor (2 seasons).
Mad Men or Deadwood
Mad Man is a Masterpiece, they need to watch it
Barry. It was nr 2 on the last poll where Sopranos got more votes. Its an AMAZING show. But it also fairly short; only 4 seasons with 30 min long episodes.
We Own This City
Hannibal
The interesting thing about The Penguin is that obviously Colin Farrell as the title character is the main draw but Cristin Milioti is absolutely mesmerizing as Sofia. I'd love to hear LM discuss her character.
Absolutely, I know you girls don't typically go for superhero or superhero adjacent shows (other than the boys and Invincible) but the Penguin has been most likened to The Sopranos. It was imo the best show on t.v last year. It's also only 8 episodes so you can get through it pretty quick. I think you will both be hooked in the first episode.
Banshee
Silo or From
Silo is underrated as hell, good pick.
Andor
ya'll can also check their tv time, a lot of shows you're recommending they have already watched or reacted lol (like got, ozark, ted lasso, succesion etc)
Hi, how do I find the link to their TV time?
Anne with an E!!! I truly think you two would adore this show. Its a coming of age show and 3 seasons long.
They've both seen it
Mad Men is such a good suggestion. Would love that, as there are no reactions to that out there.
Mad Men is perfect to replace Sopranos, same style, but better
Barry, Ozark, Game of Thrones
They've seen all but Barry
A lot of great stuff has been recommended here guys. Any of these shows are worthy. However, there are some shows that are elite and a reference point for the profession. Mad Men is one of those shows. The creator of the show, Matthew Weiner was a writer on The Sopranos. A brilliant central character, extraordinary writing and a stellar cast. It also takes you through the most transformative period in American history. The 60s. Hope you guys watch Mad Men next.
Mr Robot is peak, up there with Breaking Bad and its 4 straight seasons of gas!!!!
Good news, search "lm reactions mr robot" there's a nice surprise waiting for you!
Dexter
+1 for Dexter!!!
Dexter
Yess, would be sooo good
Mad Men already has my vote but if not that then they should do another David Simon show. The Deuce is solid and only three seasons. Very emotional too.
There's literally no reactions to Mad Men so please understand that us fans are actually underdogs lmao. I need it for my mental health
Truuueeeeeee + Lola and Milena are pro-level reactors, they'll ACTUALLY absolutely smoke it in their analyses
My vote is absolutely for Mad Men, but I wouldn't mind you making a poll with just shorter shows for now. Mad Men is very long, and it's coming off the back of another long show. There's a lot of decent shorter shows that people are recommending here, just like there were before you did Sopranos and The Wire. It might be nice to let one of those have a chance before we lock into another year long reaction. I watched The Pitt recently. Only thirteen episodes. Really good medical drama, amazing characters and performances. Definitely seemed like it would be right up your alley. Also Andor, someone recommended it to me and I loved it even though I knew nothing about Star Wars. I think you would love it too.
I agree with using the free slot to get through a few shorter shows first before committing to Mad Men.
out of topic MONSTER will come in dub or sub? (begging for sub)
I’m 98% they’re gonna watch it sub. They only consider dub when a lot of ppl request it. I don’t think the dub for monster is that popular.
Derry girls
Ozark
Lola loved Ozark, Not sure if Milena ended up watching it or not.
The Americans is a well written prestige show.
I said the same, but it seems that at least one of them has already watched it.
Ted Lasso
If they haven’t seen it would make a heartwarming reaction
The Curse is a very weird but incredible show but I don't mind Mad Men
Glad to see the support for Mad Men
@Lola @Milena Just for fun: Make a poll without Mad Men :D
A lot of Mad Men love here (great show), and it will probably get reactions at some point... But guys let's also show some love for TWIN PEAKS without which there would be no Mad Men (or Sopranos)!! TWIN PEAKS FANS LETS SHOW OUR LOVE AND GET IT HIGHER ON THE RECS LIST!!! FOR DAVID LYNCH! ❤️❤️❤️
Where can I watch twin peaks tho
Buffy The Vampire Slyer!!!
My bet is they watched it back in highschool. If not 100% they should watch. My all time favourite series alongside Breaking Bad
Sons of Anarchy
Are comedies an option? Just asking out of curiosity, I think dramas are more befitting to their style anyways. I'll repeat my suggestion to quickly watch Adolescence (just 4 episodes) before starting something long. Some of the suggestions are connected to movies: Fargo - I think watching the movie first would help, it sets the tone and is fantastic on its own (Coen brothers!), but it's not strictly necessary to understand the series. There are only lose connections in terms of the plot. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The (tv) movie would come first, but it's neither very good nor needed to understand the series, so you can skip it. At a later point, Buffy connects to Angel, a spin-off series. Deadwood - The movie was made later and is set later, so you can watch it to finish off the series. Andor - Obviously it's Star Wars, so there's a whole bunch of stuff it's connected to, but theoretically it should work on its own? But you probably need to watch Rogue One (movie) after Andor to finish the story, although it's hard to say as Andor is still coming out right now. Rogue One then directly sets up the original Star War (aka A New Hope). It would be fascinating to see the perspective of people who (I assume) aren't very familiar with Star Wars.
HBO's Rome. It's prestige television like the Sopranos, but set in ancient Rome. Extremely quality show.
Wasn’t it cancelled? I don’t think it’s a good idea to recommend shows that don’t have a clear ending. Correct me if I’m wrong, ofc.
People are spamming Mad Men... it's on-brand, but it's a slog. My vote would be for a show with fewer episodes first, like Chernobyl (4 episodes), Twin Peaks (48), Mare of Easttown (7), or The Terror (20).
I was thinking this. Appropriate for the channel, but it’s almost like asking a reaction for the Walking Dead
My Brilliant Friend Justified Shrinking
Hannibal
Silo
Oz White Lotus
Deadwood
Mad Men has a few “my boy”s for sure
Peaky Blinders is a really great show to react to. It's prestige TV like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos.
Peaky Blinders is awesome show but they've seen it. See this spreadsheet for series they've seen. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15H4Q4j_in5l02iWMWCcnf8KiHiXOv-C4D1_pS9gV_zg/edit?gid=101038604#gid=101038604
The man in the high castle
I am so excited for it to be Mad Men plsss
Highly recommend six feet under if you havnt seen it already really think you'd love it

Succession Ken Roy
Lola has seen
THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK sopranos movie… their reaction would be funny
True. A lot of people hate it but I think it’s just misunderstood. Would love to see them react to it just for completionism sake
Mad Men is the narrative successor of Sopranos with Matthew Weiner being one of the main writers in Sopranos, who then he goes on to create Mad Men. One thing to elevate you're watching experience would be broadly understanding 50's, 60's & 70s American culture; you guys would pick up so many pieces of dialogue that contain the lingo, nods to events and people. If you do watch Mad Men but are busy to do all the above, just familiarise yourself with the most popular ads in the 70s especially ones that Coca-Cola released.
If they watch Mad Men I'll send them the few bits of context they need when they need it. It really shouldn't be much, the show does a good job at presenting the setting itself
i wish we can all watch sense8 for the first time again
I just thought of another new Netflix series: The Eternaut (El Eternauta). It's a post-apocalyptic Argentine production based on a 1957 Argentine comic that's legendary throughout Latin America (I'm from Peru). I'm sure you'd love it!
On this spreadsheet are all the shows Lola and Milena already watched/reacted https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15H4Q4j_in5l02iWMWCcnf8KiHiXOv-C4D1_pS9gV_zg/edit?usp=drivesdk
Thanks.
Mad Men is my suggestion. Very much in the same vein as Sopranos. Character driven show, where every single character has extreme depth and feels so real. It has such a great story to tell that I think would resonate with yall. Succession and Ted Lasso as well. Lots of good suggestions in these comments though, so you really can't go wrong with whatever ends up winning.
How about From, it's like a horror version of Lost
Sneaking in His Dark Materials and Heartstopper!
Mad men
It's gonna be Mad Men, they've talked about wanting to watch it and now they have a lot of recommendations. I dare you girls to put Andor on the poll though.
ANDOR
Comes after TLOU, so July
The White Lotus!
If comedies are an option, Curb Your Enthusiasm would be great
Boardwalk Empire.
La Casa de Papel
They already reacted to La Casa de Papel
Older - Deadwood / Newer - MobLand
Please watch fleabag!! I know you guys would love it
Mad Men all the way.
Lola and Don Draper would have made a great couple. (Mad Men please!)
duh.
Six Feet Under. Please.
It's the perfect fit for LM. Mad Men is great, a better show imo, but Six Feet Under is bursting with character work they would love. It's a top tier show that stands alongside the greats, and it's under-watched by reactors.
Fargo
Yes. But should probably watch the film first
DEADWOOD
The White Lotus
Have you guys considered succession? ( if you’ve not already seen it) such a brilliantly written show and 100% your vibe
They both already watched Succession on their own time
If you liked The Sopranos then you have to watch Mad Men, it is a series created by one of the writers of The Sopranos and its quality is at the same level.
It has to be mad men or six feet under
Snowfall
Andor
The Last of Us s2!
Justified Fleabag Fargo White Lotus Hannibal Sherlock Mad Men The X-files Deadwood
I'd honestly like to see a reaction to Godfather Part 2, I personally think it's an even better film than the first part
Yes please Milena and Lola hear our prayers
I'd love to see a reaction to Chernobyl! It's a wonderfully haunting and very well-directed mini series
Lola already watched Chernobyl
The Penguin
Barry
My vote will be for Mad Men, but nothing wrong with bringing up Treme here.
I like the way you think
Beef, Ozark, and Peaky Blinders would be my votes !
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a good show. and the first Season of Devils Hour, (I've not finished the second yet, so can't say if it's as good).
Seconding Percy Jackson!
I have briefly written down all the recommendations and removed the ones they have already watched or refuse to watch: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15H4Q4j_in5l02iWMWCcnf8KiHiXOv-C4D1_pS9gV_zg/edit?gid=101038604#gid=101038604 * 24 (Season 1) * 9-1-1 * Adolescence * Andor * Barry * Boardwalk Empire * Broad City * Buffy * Curb Your Enthusiasm * Deadwood * Death's Game * Dexter (Season 1-5) * Donald Glover’s Atlanta * Doom Patrol (Season 1) * Elementary * Entourage * Fargo * Firefly * Flight of the Conchords * For All Mankind * Generation Kill * Goodfellas & Godfather Part 2 * Hannibal * His Dark Materials * Interview with the Vampire * Jessica Jones * Jury Duty * Justified * Mad Men * Masters of the Air * MobLand * My Brilliant Friend * Narcos * Oz * Penguin * Seinfeld * Shrinking * Silo * Silicon Valley * Six Feet Under * Snowfall * Sons of Anarchy * Squid Game Season 2 * The Corner * The Eternaut * The Last Kingdom * The Magicians * The Murderbot Diaries * The Pitt * The Righteous Gemstones * The Wheel of Time * Torchwood * Twin Peaks ----------------------------- REMOVED: * Atypical * Beef * Bojack Horseman * Brooklyn Nine-Nine * Chernobyl * Daredevil * Dark * Derry Girls * Euphoria * Fleabag * Good Omens * Halt And Catch Fire * Heartstopper * Kingdom * Manifest * Mindhunter * Ozark * Peaky Blinders * Prison Break * Rome * Sex Education * Sherlock * Succession * Supernatural * Ted Lasso * The Good Place * The Leftovers * The Man In The High Castle * The Mandalorian * The West Wing * The X-Files * The White Lotus * True Detective * You One of you can now keep track and see how often what has been recommended and liked :D
If you still have the list, put up another list of the shows they have already seen or refused, so we don't keep recommending them repeatedly. Just a thought, but no worries if you already trashed it.
Andor is the only real answer.
Yes andor
Six Feet Under would be incredible, you guys would love it
Yes please
But for real.. I’m down for Barry or Fargo.
These are not really long series but I know you gonna love these two: Midnight Mass and Jury Duty. The first one is a little scary and thoughtful, but also has a touch of dark humor. And the second one is a trial where everyone is an actor except one person. I know you'll like them, but you'll fall in love with Jury Duty.
they already reacted to midnight mass
Fuck it, let’s just re-watch the wire.
I mean, there is Wire-adjacent content they haven't seen: The Corner. All episodes are up for free on YouTube.
peaky blinders
in their tv line appears that they already watched to peaky :(
MAD MEN or Six Feet Under Six Feet Under was also a HBO show and the holy trinity of HBO shows with The Wire and Sopranos both shows have great female characters too, you will love peggy or ruth lol
I suspect it doesn't stand a chance, but I'd love to see a reaction to Nurse Jackie. It stars Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano). I'm not sure how you ladies feel about medical dramas or whether you've ever reacted to any, but I'm typically not a fan of the genre... and yet, I really loved this show, largely because of the cast, especially Edie. She's such a great actress.
Ted Lasso
Mad Men or Fargo
Boardwalk empire. Lots of same writers, directors, and actors from sopranos. IMO it’s a close second to sopranos. Great show
Boardwalk Empire, Silicon Valley, Ted Lasso, Entourage, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Oz
Andor
*MAD MEN --Best TV Shows all time = Rolling Stone #7, Hollywood Reporter #1 --56 Emmy nominations, won 16 including Outstanding Drama Series --Golden Globe 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 winner Best TV Series - Drama *DEXTER *ANDOR (24 episodes) --8 Emmy® nominations including Outstanding Drama Series.
+1 for Dexter!
Lola I know you said you watched some of Dark but PLEASE consider doing a full reaction to it it’s so good 😭
The problem is that Lola will 100% spill the beans when she discusses the episodes with Milena. Either this will be a solo reaction or Milena will have to hijack her brother/girlfriend for 26 episodes.
Ted Lasso, it's basically live action Haikyuu
They've seen it, unfortunately
DEXTER is one show that I would absolutely love to see your reaction to!!!
A big +1 for Dexter
Plz not Mad Men, such an overrated and boring show. Unless you want to use it as background noise for going to sleep
WRONG
Interview with the vampire on amc. It’s so good.
Best show I've seen in recent memory ngl 👌
Deadwood
I feel you’ll really enjoy “His Dark Materials” (streaming on HBO Max). It’s a great series with an excellent cast and amazing production telling an intriguing story blending sci fi and fantasy.
Chernobyl is amazing and quite short. True Detective Season 1 (just season 1, it is an anthology series) is also quite short and absolutely amazing. Lastly, if you're at all into science fiction Battlestar Galactica is *excellent*, and has a movie-length miniseries as a pilot, so you could react just to the miniseries and then decide if you enjoyed it enough to continue.
They already watched all.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - more comedic sitcom/police procedural to contrast with all the drama shows getting nominated
Dark on Netflix, it is so goood
Pretty sure they already watched.
9-1-1, so we can all suffer together with the 118.
For TV , check out the HBO’s .. “Euphoria“ For a movie reaction, “Goodfellas”. would be a good follow up to Sopranos
Yeah, both Euphoria and Goodfellas.
Boardwalk Empire for more crime. Not anywhere near as deep or well written as The Sopranos but it makes up for that by having Steve Buscemi (Tony's cousin Tony that he shot in the head with a shotgun) play the lead. Omar from The Wire also has a big role in the show and we get a lot of him.
+1 for Boardwalk Empire. Excellent. Nominated for 50 Emmys including Outstanding Drama Series. Has Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar of The Wire). Martin Scorsese directed the pilot, which had a budget of $18 million.
sherlock or hannibal🗣
Mads Mikkelsen = best Hannibal Lecter ever. There i said it.
Broad City
So much fun, great show!
Chernobyl is great and devastating
Have you seen THE LEFTOVERS? If not, it would be amazing. One of the best shows ever.
They've seen it
MAD MEN PLEASE (or Andor)
A big +1 for both Mad Men and Andor.
Oh and absolutely Chernobyl if you haven't seen it
Barry is the perfect fit for a mix of character studies and comedy. Twin peaks is foundational to television in a way that can't be overlooked, but I love Lynch's work so I may be biased.
Bojack Horseman
Supernatural (but just seasons 1-5)
The Wire
They already reacted to it.
MAD MEN is the last show left of that golden era of prestige television.
and Six Feet Under
Godfather Part 2
These have already been commented but - Mad Men is great but it's also a lengthy endeavour so you might want a shorter show in between to take a break after watching another collosal show like the Sopranos. With that said I think you would really enjoy Barry, as it has that perfect mix of comedy and drama that you have seemed to enjoy so much in this show and it has a certain degree of East European flavour from some of the characters that I know you would appreciate. It's also a much shorter watch with only 36 thirty minute episodes total, so it's not a huge commitment and you can still get to Mad Men soon enough afterwards!
Do Mad Men now. Too excellent to wait.
Mad Men. Ya’ll will definitely love it
Already know it wont get picked, but I'm gonna say The Magicians x)
It's not top tier TV but God do I love it. It's on the same tier as something like the 100. Not groundbreaking but good characters and setting.
PLZ LAST OF US SEASON 2
it's on the schedule for after Invincible : )
OMG TWIN PEAKS PLEASE 🙏🙏!!! It's a beautiful, surreal, human, emotional work of art, a landmark of television and pop culture, considered to be the first prestige tv show (in 1990, and the Return season in 2017 was a masterpiece too), influencing everything from Lost, Sopranos, Stranger Things and so many countless other films, tv series, and even video games. The creator David Lynch was a legendary surrealist auteur and film director whose films (and 1 tv show) changed modern cinema forever and inspired the birth of so many artists. But more importantly for me unlike most fellow auteur types, he was actually a kind, empathetic, respectful and genuinely good human being too (no weird abuses, allegations etc, a true rarity). Which is why his passing away in January, and the outpouring of love and adoration from his actors and people whose lives he touched/influenced was extra sad. So guys please consider Twin Peaks!! (or any of his films to watch in your own time, I know Mulholland Drive changed my life forever, might do the same for you)
I think at least Lola watched it
Mad Men! Think you would also love The White Lotus and Derry Girls
Mad Men, def up there with Sopranos as one of the great dramas (but different style and tone) and has relatively few reactions online.
Exactly
Bojack Horseman
Unlikely to get picked, but I’d like to throw out there that The Leftovers is one of the greatest and most underrated shows ever!
They've seen it sadly
I'll just mention Deadwood, just because it's the "prequel" of the accidental trilogy about America (The Sopranos and The Wire being the other two parts). Even though it's clearly going to be Mad Men lol. I'm sure they'll love Peggy and Joan.
Ozark or Boardwalk Empire (HBO show)
Two good ones.
BBC Sherlock please!!!! I need people to vouch for it PLEASE or Interview with the vampire!!!
Cannot recommend "Good Omens" more! You would absolutely love those two idiots and it's great timing with the final season coming out this fall.
Short-Term (4 Episodes): Chernobyl. Mid-Term (10 Episodes): The Pitt, Season 1. Long-Term (Multiple Seasons): Mad Men.
An epic list of 100 movies go into a bucket and a monthly short livestream where 4 are drawn out and watched that month. :)
Mad Men....Easy call
If you guys havent seen it. Twin Peaks would be awesome.
Twin Peaks is incredible and I think that The Return is one of the greatest pieces of art ever made. It would encourage a different style of post-episode discussion too, which I think would be interesting!
The lord of the rings. Way better than rings of power
at 24 eps technically Andor is on the shorter side however structurally it’s best watched in 2-3 eps which i think makes it a good candidate for this slot. about every ~3 eps is its own arc with their own mini payoffs which lends itself more to x2 week rather than x1 week imo!
s2 is also being released in 3 episode batches for this reason
FARGO (1996 movie first optionally, then series. Each season is a separate story in different times but there are some connections) OZARK
Andor
I’m curious, when you two get recommendations do you look up trailers or just go off folks in the comment section? Good look making a choice, I take forever to decide anything lol.
Black Mirror
I'd support if curated for only like the top 50% of episodes. There are some stinkers in there.
The Good Place
The Pitt
It's not long, but because the Short Show Slot becomes more and more the "Show returns" Slot I would love to see Death's Game Reactions!
Death's Game is peak!
The Murderbot Diaries
Squid game 😀
Twin Peaks
YES PLEASEEE!!!
Have they seen The Leftovers?
They've seen it, yep
Barry
MAD MEN
Someone mentioned Halt and Catch Fire, would like to second that! Very underrated, would love to watch that again.
Halt and Catch Fire is excellent.
Boardwalk empire is a decent show. Also Ozark is great and so is Dark
Boardwalk Empire and Ozark are both damn good.
Andor and The Penguin are both really popular short show options. Two seasons for Andor and one season for The Penguin. Perhaps you might consider filling the long show slot with those three seasons first, and then moving onto the long show choice. There seems to be a longer queue in the short show slot and this would help clear that backlog. Just a suggestion.
Andor would fit also in the Long Show Slot. 24 episodes are not that short.
Now just rewatch The Sopranos from the beginning!.. Also Mad Men is a good choice
BEEF
Elementary The Magicians Jessica Jones Torchwood
The Magicians would be awesome!
Six Feet Under!! It's a great character-driven show that follows a family-run funeral home. Not as influential as The Sopranos, but it's in the same crop that shaped and ushered in modern TV. Also a pretty groundbreaking series for gay representation.
yeah id definitely recommend six feet under or mad men great female characters too. way better female characters than breaking bad or sopranos lol
Rome from HBO.
Hannibal
x2
Narcos (the one about Escobar)
Narcos is underrated af
I've occasionally seen some Star Trek shows being mentioned over the years here. I'm a huge fan of TNG and DS9, and to a lesser extent Voyager. The problem with these shows for LM is two fold. Firstly, they are mostly episodic and LM seems to prefer long character arcs, although the Dominion war arc in DS9 is just incredible tv. Secondly, the quality varies MASSIVELY, from some of the best TV episodes ever written to utter garbage. If they were to tackle Star Trek TNG or DS9, I think they would need a curated list of episodes.
Yep. TNG is a beloved show of mine. Hell, I grew up with Picard being more a father figure to me than my own dad. As great as many of the episodes are, there are some brutally garbage ones. And unfortunately a lot of them are in Seasons 1 and 2 before the show really got its legs under it.
Hannibal
The Corner: A miniseries by The Wire's David Chase about.... get this..... the drug scene in Baltimore.... featuring.... get this.... several actors from The Wire in totally different roles. Want to see what Lester looks like as a drug fiend? You know you're interested :)
Fargo
The Americans
Incredible TV but I think they have seen it.
Derry Girls if you want to experience Frieren levels of bliss and comfort.
Yesss derry girls!
You would love 'Barry'.
How about doing a monthly poll for a movie reaction? Just one a month. That is all we want (at least those of us who would like to see you continuing movie reactions after The Godfather)
Whenever movies are suggested, I picture LM doing the Homelander meme where he looks utterly disgusted.
DEXTER
YES!!! One of the most entertaining shows I've ever watched, would love to see their reaction!
Manifest
I also want to recommend a new Netflix sci-fi show: The Eternaut. It's an adaptation of the most important Argentine science fiction graphic novel ever written — El Eternauta by Héctor Germán Oesterheld and Francisco Solano López. There is only S1 so far so maybe for the short slot. SYNOPSIS Set in Buenos Aires during a deadly snowfall that wipes out all life it touches, The Eternaut follows Juan Salvo, a regular man who becomes an unlikely hero when he and a small group of survivors must fight for their lives in the wake of a mysterious, alien invasion. As they navigate a devastated city covered in snow and death, they face overwhelming odds, gradually uncovering the chilling scope of the catastrophe — and the forces behind it. There is only one season so far, but it lays a powerful foundation for what could become one of the most compelling sci-fi series in recent years. TRAILER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqT4fDQQqCc
how have I never heard of this lmao
Ozark
Way way way outta left field: Flight of the Conchords. I'd love to see how they handle a great comedy show.
Barry Fargo
also saw someone say Beef, and I agree!
Probably not popular enough to win a poll but I think you guys would really love Justified. Would also echo a lot of the For All Mankind suggestions.
my favorite show is The Last Kingdom
Succession!
They've seen it sadly.
I’d love to see Barry reactions I just finished it last month and it’s very fun imo
If Mad Men is on the poll, it is going to win, and I can't really argue with that. I will always mention For All Mankind though. It is incredible storytelling with excellent characters. I would also mention Andor but that is a short show, and btw, it can be enjoyed even if you know nothing about Star Wars. That is one of its strengths.
I wouldn't be so certain Mad Men will sweep. A lot of us are passionately advocating for it but I think it'll be a tight race depending what it's running against. Mad Men long show and Andor short show slots would be my all time dream reaction combo from my fav reaction channel 😭❤️
The Pitt. New highly acclaimed show, just finished its first season. Only 15 episodes, so could be good for a short time between longer shows.
The Last of Us is back for its new season!
That’s going to be after Invincible
I feel like because of the richness of characters and the depth of story, they'd fall in love with Mad Men. It's the greatest TV drama of all time IMO - that's my pick!
CUrrently done with the rewatch. Yep best TV ever for me
Boardwalk empire
Mad Men, Fargo, Boardwalk Empire, or Andor
Twin Peaks is the best show for you guys to watch next in my opinion. You are experiencing classics and twin peaks holds more influence on modern media than just about any tv show ever made. It might not win a poll just because its not as accessible as these other shows but it will leave the greatest impact on you and will give you the most to think about/discuss.
The grandaddy of all of em.
Boardwalk Empire!
Halt and Catch Fire
Underrated masterpiece!
Hi! I want to recommend "The Wheel of Time" is a fantasy show already with 3 seasons, is a great adaptation of one of the most popular and successful fantasy book series ever written after "The Lord of the Rings" is an awesome and underrated adaptation in my opinion way better than The Ring of Power. And you will recognize some faces from The Expanse SYNOPSIS The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving only echoes in history. In a world where time is cyclical and fate seems woven by forces beyond human will, a group of young people from the remote region of the Two Rivers is swept into an adventure that will change their lives — and the course of the world — forever. Guided by Moiraine, a mysterious Aes Sedai and member of an ancient sisterhood of women who can channel the One Power, the youths will discover that magic — a force wielded by women and deadly to men — shapes the threads of destiny. One of them could be the Dragon Reborn, the prophesied savior or destroyer. The journey has begun — and the Wheel does not stop. TRAILER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Fus4Xb_TLg
Way better than the rings of power. Really hyping it up huh
I'm ride or die for Mad Men but imo for balance of popularity and the girls taste, the poll should be: Mad Men, Barry, Fargo + a 4th thing. If the channel reacts to Mad Men and Andor, my life will be complete 😭❤️
The Mandalorian
Twin Peaks
Lastly Peaky Blinders because it’s a personal favorite of mine and again I feel like the discussions would be amazing!!! Basically just anything that will keep you girls talking, lol because the way you ladies dissect shows is great.
They already watched peaky blinders on their own time
YOU on netflix
Would love Barry
“Silo”, an apocalyptic dystopian show from Apple TV
Adolescence is a short one, and I think it could lead to great discussions
Adolescence is right now THE show, because it's only 4 episodes, it's was filmed all in one shot, and the main topic is very important in this day and age.
Succession is amazing
They've seen it
Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
Hell yes!
Also Snowfall because the discussions for that show would be amazing. It’s also like The Wire in my opinion in that it brings up serious topics that should be discussed more.
The dark horse that'll never win: Season 1 of '24' - the last great cable TV show. Commit to Season 1 only and if you like it, come back to it every now and then between other shows.
I would also suggest Interview with a Vampire because it’s one of the most amazing shows I have seen and the best book adaptation.
The Leftovers!!!
They've seen it, which hurts me every time cuz its the perfect show haha
Twin Peaks
I’m gonna suggest multiple on separate comments but the first is Mad Men because I know most people want to see that and it gives me an excuse to finally start watching it as well.
Fargo
Sex education or succession
Mad Men
Not sure if it's already been watched or if it would even fit the criteria but I feel as though Sons of Anarchy would be a good long form show for them to watch.
Donald Glover’s Atlanta
Nobody ever reacts to it but it's one of the most underrated shows out there
For All Mankind please. I think it's been years since you added it into your to-watch list
The Penguin is a special show. No Batman knowledge is required. It's only 8 episodes and I can't recommend it enough.
It's not long but Masters of the Air - partner series to Band of brothers
It's understandable that a lot of people want you to react to Mad Men, because it seems like both a natural and a spiritual successor to The Sopranos, but it's really a "safe" choice imo. You can always react to it in the future. I think so many people here would love it if you reacted to a genre you've never really reacted to before. The Good Place and The Pitt are the two shows I've already seen mentioned and they are both incredible and unlike anything else you've ever reacted to. One is a comedy with a big heart and an incredible story, the other is a realistic and pulsating medical drama. Both of the shows have brilliantly written, easy to fall in love with characters as well, which is right up your alley.
Mad Men is a completely different genre than The Sopranos. I am not sure what you mean by Mad Men "seems like both a natural and spiritual successor" to The Sopranos. Select Mad Men now immediately while the fire is hot. Don't delay and risk Mad Men not happening ever.
Barry!
Naruto
Wrong universe. Naruto Live Action didn't happen here. But Naruto Ocean Cut all the way 😀
Has to be Mad Men.
Fargo
Hannibal, True Detective, Twin Peaks
Hannibal YES!
Did they already react to or watch Peaky Blinders?
I think they already watched it (without reaction) but im not sure
Adolescence would great as well
MAD MEN!
Haven't seen Mad Men, but general consensus is its a great show. Hannibal would be a good choice - 1st half of season 1 is a little shaky, but it takes off after that. Has a reputation for being gory but I don't think it's that bad actually. Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy might be the best versions of Hannibal and Will Graham. Also only a 3 season show so won't take too long to watch. Some limited series that could be watched in between Sopranos and a long show could be Adolescence (4 one hour episodes) and Chernobyl (5 one hour episodes). Chernobyl reminds me of Band of Brothers a little so depends on your appetite for that kind of story, but it is similarly amazing.
Hannibal 🗣
Barry
Beef from Netflix
DEADWOOD
The Righteous Gemstones With created by Danny Mcbride. Parody of multimillion dollar churches/pastors. Very funny but has a lot of drama that goes deep as well in my opinion
Six feet under
Ozark
HBO's Deadwood only three seasons but one of the best shows ever on HBO I don't know of many people that react to that show
Mindhunter
Mindhunter is awesome.
You guys HAVE to watch the penguin. Only 8 episodes on HBO MAX. It’s worth it.
Doom Patrol season 1
In your lane Barry is the obvious choice .... but your lane is thinning out. There are some shows out there whose reactions get pretty good numbers, and which I think you'd actually enjoy, but you haven't been considering (either because you don't think you'd like them or you don't know they exist). Just a few off-the-dome: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Red Dwarf, Seinfeld ............ I know you recently laughed at the very concept of watching a comedy, but some of them (those last two) are very sharp/relatable character studies. I think it could work. Most reactors watch that stuff and replace the laughter with distracted pedantry. If you two replaced the laughter it would be with sharper stuff than that.
they're legit running out of long form shows that provide the kind of chunky character-driven writing that makes for great reactions + long discussions. Mad Men, Barry, Fargo
Andor or Interview with the Vampire
Six feet under, honestly life changing show
Mad Men, Barry, Deadwood, Six Feet Under
It's not long but I would love to see you guys react to The Pitt. It's a new medical show on HBO. I feel like you guys would love the characters and it would be interesting to see you react to a medical show. Also the new season starts in January so you won't have to wait long.
Mad Men or Barry 🤞
BARRY, Chernobyl or Fargo.
Chernobyl is a 5-episode miniseries, not a long show slot candidate. It's really really good though
The Good Place
I think they've seen it, otherwise I second this.
Rectify. don’t think there will be support as it’s not a well known show (zero reactions on YouTube as well. ) Contemporary of Mad Men, BB, & BCS, from a smaller sister channel that they were on and of the same quality. Quick set up - guy is released off death row after half his life there since high school. His conviction is vacated, but still can be re-arrested at any moment and re-tried. Family show (as in it focuses on his family) which you both love, and two classicly great female characters as well.
Rectify is phenomenal but possibly the worst type of reaction show out of any dramas i’ve seen. It makes Mad Men look like a blazing action show.
Andor
Idk if it qualifies as a long show but if it does yeah it should absolutely be Andor. Perfect time to start it as the world becomes increasingly fascist.
Twin Peaks
Barry
Twin Peaks reaction would be great!
Chernobyl
I think Lola has seen Chernobyl already
True detective season 1
Unfortunately, they have seen it already.
Definitely Andor. You don’t need to be a big Star Fans to like it (I’m not). It’s so well written and acted.
Andor is a masterpiece
I feel like I've heard it mentioned already during intro/outro discussions, but incase I'm wrong, Black Mirror
Deadwood isn't particularly long - three seasons and a movie. It's also the greatest English dialogue you'll ever hear.
I'm curious to see how they would handle the language in Deadwood.
The rookie, it’s a cop show but it’s more found family then most
Twin Peaks. It’s influence on the following thirty years of television, video games etc and a particular influence on David Chase and Damon Lindelof makes it essential. And the third season is one of the most audacious, and beautiful things ever
The Leftovers, its from the creator of "Lost", thats speak for itself. Its one of the best shows of all time!
The best* but I’m pretty sure one of them has already seen it
Mad Men would be a good one for some of that prestige tv Treme is good and from the creator of the Wire, has some actors from there as well it’s about New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. If you want a trippy one season show that was some of the most original tv I’ve seen check out Legion it is awesome. Seriously some of the most far out original shit I’ve seen.
DEADWOOD
Deadwood is like The Wire in that once you watch it you realize how mediocre most other shows are. Hopefully they knock out Deadwood before slogging through seven bloated seasons of Mad Men.
Barry, Silicon Valley, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire
Would love to see their reaction to Dexter, so good!
The Beef is also great on Netflix I think you’d both enjoy that a lot
Buffy 🧛♂️
Justified
Andor. Even without Star Wars knowledge (which I don't have much) the show is fantastic.
Before watching this new show 1 month from now u should make a tier list video of all the shows you’ve watched these past few years. The last ranking video you both made was a long time ago before watching all these really great shows, it’s time for an update :) would love your opinion on where you rank the shows and why.
It was only a mere ten years ago
Extraordinary Attorney Woo as a K-Drama if you haven’t seen it. Andor if we want a quick 24 episode live action as the short-show slot is pretty backed up. I don’t remember if one of you said you’ve seen White Lotus or not
lovee the new pfp
The Penguin, is an 8 episode show 🙏
!!!!
Justified
Generation Kill is an 7 episode HBO show made by the guys who wrote and directed The Wire, highly recommend. edit: didn't read the bit about long shows sorry, I guess I'll pile on and also recommend Succession.
You
Hbo rome, only 2 seasons. And you guys would be one of the first people to react to it.
Same. I second this it’s an extremely underrated show.
The West Wing
Lola wears a Jed Bartlett sweater in half her vids I think at least she has seen it lol
Twin Peaks But if you open this can of worms you have to seasons 1 & 2, Fire Walk with Me (movie), and The Return (s3). Don't know if they are ready for David Lynch RIP.
Andor all day
Andor would be great
Mad men
Not really a long show, but I think you girls would LOVE interview with the vampire! It has 2 seasons so far
Barry or The Penguin
Mad Men, for sure
Mad men
Deadwood would be fantastic
Mad men and Barry were recommended a lot
Mad Men or Justified
Mad Men, Andor, The Pitt, LOST (one of you may have seen that but idk)
Penguin
THIS NEEDS TO HAVE MORE LIKES!
Mad Men or Boardwalk Empire!
Andor
Sons of Anarchy
Succession
Gomorrah (tv series)
Andor not sure if its long enough for 'long show' but its i think you'll have some great discussions also fun to see you react to a franchise like that
They can top it off with a Rogue one viewing
My Brilliant Friend.
Barry.
Mad Men
The Pitt
They would eat this up but it’s not long enough plus I’d guess one of them already watched on their own. Just a hunch.
Daredevil
True Detective Season 1!
Barry
ANDOR
Andor? They know nothing of star wars.. wouldn't understand a single thing..😀😀 why even recommend a show like that?
Dark
ive seen it unfortunately
Mad Men
