The english dub in this show is horrible, but that's how it iscwithb99% of animes that come out over thevlast 6 orv7 years now
The vitriol towards modern dubs is unwarranted. I think some of the writing in the localization of the Frieren English dub is better than what is in the subtitles.
I can see how the dub voices can be odd. I watch Frieren in English first and now Japanese so it took me some time to adjust. So far I've enjoyed both. Yeah, welcome to the mid sentence ending of Frieren.
I don't like the dub too, it's not really bad like I know the voice actors did a good job but the voices just doesn't fit the character for me, it's more a casting issue than a skill issue

The timer became de-synced when you guys had to switch back to Japanese. It's about 1:12 ahead or so.

I agree girls, as someone that doesn't have a preference or any issues with watching dub anime. Frieren's voice just doesn't sound right in English. In my opinion, it clashes with the character and its way too jarring to listen to.
I think both Frieren VA's are great in English and Japanese. But I can get why it might be jarring if someone had listened to the Japanese voice track first.
