Life Across The Multiverse With Mangekyo Sharingan 8

Lash had already stopped paying attention to us. The Storm Monsuno was an interesting creature, even by the standards of danger beasts. This was mostly because he wasn't a danger beast at all but a monster from another franchise.

To be more accurate, Lash came from a world I had visited several worlds ago.

Was it the third or the fourth though? I kinda lost track. What I did remember was falling through another dimensional rift, expecting the usual assortment of medieval kingdoms, superpowers, monsters, or people who desperately needed me to solve their problems.

Instead, I opened my eyes to a world where children were running around with giant monsters sealed inside little capsules.

Monsuno.

A cartoon series I had watched when I was younger. One of those shows that occupied the same general part of my childhood brain as Digimon, Pokémon and every other series where children apparently had access to creatures capable of destroying city blocks. Which meant that when I eventually realized exactly where I was, I had one thought.

'...Can I keep one?' Naturally, I did what any reasonable dimensional traveler would do. I spent the next several weeks looking for one.

It wasn't particularly difficult. Sure my plot knowledge was minimal after it being years since I last watched the series, but when you were a ninja with all sorts of freaky abilities, a lot of doors were easily accessible.

No surprise, a certain tall, middle aged, curvy, pretty hot government milf lady from an organization named S.T.O.R.M. approached me for my unique abilities. Commander Charlemagne.

She was also the first crush I developed as an Uchiha by the way. Sigh ... Teenage hormones were rampant back then.

Hot as she was however, that lady was a classic stick in the mud. Rigid military posture, power suit, immaculate hair, and a temper that could melt steel. In short, S.T.O.R.M. was essentially a cool black-ops military dictatorship hiding behind a public defense badge, and Charlemagne ran it with an iron fist.

Her proposition had been simple, delivered while surrounded by a dozen heavily armed guards and her top officer.

'Surrender your abilities to S.T.O.R.M., become a weapon for the government, or be eliminated as an unregistered threat.'

As one could imagine, I, a worldhopping missing Nin who had escaped the clutches of the hidden leaf village, nearly keeled over laughing my socks off.

Naturally, my shadow clone listened on to her ramblings and threats in the interrogation room while the real me strolled straight into their classified vault using transformation Jutsu and a stolen key card. That was where I found the raw, unbonded Storm-elemental Cores S.T.O.R.M. had been trying and failing to tame.

There were three of them. Things were remarkably easy from there. One quick use of my Mangekyo Sharingan later to fuse all three alongside a great deal of my chakra and blood together and I had myself my very own Pokémon bonded to me before I even spun the core. Souvenir, collected.

Charlemagne had been furious naturally, and proceeded to spend the greater deal of several weeks chasing me around the world in what I would call a delightful little game of Tom and Jerry.

I would escape, leave just enough clues for her to track me down. Ruin whatever operation she had planned in spectacular fashion, and escape yet again, only to repeat the process. Maybe intentionally getting caught once or twice. I still remembered the vein popping on her forehead right before I activated my dimensional jump, waving goodbye with her prized bio-weapon in my palm. That was probably the best toxic relationship I ever had.

'Good times.'

I thought, immersing myself in the memory and grinning like an idiot when a sound cut through the air from my side.

'Eh? Not dead yet?' My Sharingan caught the throwing weapons shooting rapidly towards us in slow motion. The weapons shot towards us, only to easily miss our silhouettes.

I had jumped forward, falling down from the hill while my shadow clone had leaped up onto Lash's sleeping body.

He had barely landed when a shadow rushed from the sides, drawing large chains and swinging right at him.

PUFF

My clone expressionlessly took out several Kunai and a single large shuriken and threw them at him.

The attacker quickly repositioned, his foot slamming the earth to pivot to the right for a quick dodge. 'Hmm .. not bad.'

The assassin didn't even have time to register the failure of his ambush before my clone flicked his wrist. A second kunai cut through the air with remarkable force, whistling past the man's ear by a fraction of an inch and striking the swinging iron chains mid-flight. The Kunai pinned the chains into the earth, completely stalling his attack momentum

The sudden tension yanked the chain taut.

"What—?!" The assassin's eyes widened as his forward momentum abruptly came to a halt.

Before he could abandon the weapon and fall back, my clone tugged with the other hand. High-tensile, nearly invisible chakra wires stretched from the clone's fingers, tied directly to the ring of the giant shuriken he had tossed moments prior.

The spinning steel blade reversed its trajectory mid-air from his blind spot.

SQUELCH.

The heavy steel buried itself halfway through the assassin's head. The body went instantly limp, dropping onto the floor.

'That's one down ...' Just then, a second one leaped into the air from his right, guns raised to fire..

BANG!

A shadow quickly enveloped the assassin before he could react, smacking him straight back into the earth with bone crushing force.

'Weaklings.' Lash growled disdainfully and lowered its tail that just acted as a whip. It would have been better if he had just stayed in his core.

While this was happening, I had landed down below with a crouch, only for a sword to appear in my vision.

Clang!

The sound of metal colliding rung through the desolate forest.

"My my. What quick reflexes you have. Where did that sword even come from?" Kurome smiled, a few dozen inches away from my face. I on the other hand, raised an eyebrow while parrying her downward strike with a single arm. "Not bad,"

I taunted, a smirk tugging at my lips. "Care to dance?"" Then proceeded to flood more chakra into my arm.

Kurome's face changed as I forced her backwards.

We disengaged. The girl quickly flipped into the air before landing to stabilize her footing. Following which, she dashed out again, slashing towards me with both hands.

Clang!

Clang!

Steel hit steel as we launched into a sword duel, weaving towards and away from each other with mesmerising styles and footwork.

'He's good.' Kurome thought with a frown as she slid past me, pivoted on one foot and spun around, bringing Yatsufusa around in a horizontal slash.

I caught it.

Clang!

Our swords locked for half a second before we separated.

Then—

Fwoosh!

A whistle cut through the air. My Sharingan caught the movement instantly.

An arrow.

'This many survived?' I split my attention and twisted my body, bringing my sword to intercept it.

Clang!

The arrow struck the flat of my blade and was deflected harmlessly into the dirt.

But that split-second distraction was all Kurome needed. Her grip tightened around Yatsufusa. Then she swung with everything she had.

Whoosh!

The blade tore through empty air.

"...Huh?"

Kurome's eyes widened. There were barely a meter apart. How could she have missed? Too bad. Before she could react, a hand seized her collar lifting her off the ground without effort.

"Got you."

"E-Eh?!"

I raised her up, spun her around, and released her.

"Have fun." Her small body shot through the air like a ragdoll. She smashed into the earth multiple times, the impacts sending dirt flying before her body finally came to a stop several dozen meters away, rolling across the earth before stabbing her blade into the dirt to regain traction.

RUMBLE!

Kurome skidded to a halt, Yatsufusa dragging a long trench through the scorched dirt before her momentum finally died.

Silence settled over the battlefield.

"You're pretty good." I smiled, lowering my sword and reaching out to pat the slight traces of dust on my clothing. "Train for another three hundred years or so and you'll be on the right path."

CREAK!

Kurome's face darkened as she clenched her sword, her shoulders rising and falling in shallow, rapid breaths.

She slowly stood up, brushing a strand of dark hair away from her bloodied cheek. Three figures dropped out of the burnt tree line, landing in a tight, desperate formation around her. The last three survivors of the Dark Squad.

'Hmm?' I looked over, only to see my shadow clone landing on the earth, dropping a body to the floor. It was the hidden archer who shot at me earlier.

'Oh, so this is the last of them.' My gaze went back to the group. "So. Contemplating running yet?"

The three new assassins didn't answer. One of them had their clothing scorched, with half his body covered in severe heat burns. Another had lost an arm and was desperately applying pressure on the wound. Kylie was nowhere among them.

Honestly, they looked to be in terrible condition

"Where is the Squad Leader?" Kurome asked. Her voice was flat, eerily steady, yet laced with an underlying, unnatural vibration.

"Dead," one of the operatives choked out, panting heavily. "Kylie... he didn't make it out of the blast radius. It's just us."

"..." Kurome's grip tightened further around the hilt.

'Kylie is gone too...' A soft, breathy chuckle escaped her throat, sending a shiver down the spines of the surviving operatives beside her.

"I see..." she whispered softly, her fingers tightening around Yatsufusa's guard until her knuckles turned ghostly white. "Then he must be feeling really .... Really lonely right now."

She slowly stood up, pushing herself off the dirt. A faint smile eventually appeared on her lips that felt nothing that what I saw before.

"It's not safe to be alone out here. I can't let the captain be alone, can I? ..."

Kurome's sword pointed towards me. "Then I guess I'll just have to change the rules."

".."

My brows narrowed.

I had barely started my thoughts when Kurome raised her Imperial arm to the sky, a small dark orb appeared at the tip before rapidly expanding.

"Luckily ... close-range fighting was never really my strong suit anyway."

VRRRRRRR.

A wave of unnatural, bone-chilling cold instantly swept through the basin, snuffing out the lingering embers in the soil. At the tip of Yatsufusa, the pitch-black sphere of dense, swirling necromantic energy ignited like a miniature dark star.

"Come to me," Kurome cooed. "Let's all stay together... forever."

'Yep. She's gone nuts.'

BOOM!

Dozens of dark bolts of lightning erupted from the dark star at the tip of Yatsufusa, slamming violently into the scorched earth all around the basin.

The surviving operatives instinctively stepped back.

Crack! The ground fractured as a massive surge of dark spiritual energy erupted from the stone floor.

Eight distinct, shadowy pillars rose from the blackened mud around her.One by one, her personal graveyard manifested. There was Natala, her childhood friend, gripping his large spear with empty eyes.

BOOM!

A massive hand erupted from beneath the earth as something enormous pulled itself upward. A hulking humanoid figure emerged from the darkness.

Special-Class Danger Beast, Apeman. Then came Henter, the former member of the Ban Tribe wielding a knife, followed closely by the imposing silhouette of General Rokougou, the legendary military commander who had nearly betrayed the Empire before falling to her blade.

Warriors. Former enemies. Tribal Chieftains. People who had once stood against the Empire. And finally ...

BOOOOM!
