Update 21/09/2026

Oops!

Hey folks,

I've managed to miss last week's update yet again. I think I'm going to have to start setting an alarm! 😂

Anyway... there has been a bit of a change of plan with Shaddolands – Memories.

I've spent literally hours experimenting with animations and trying to get them to the standard I want. Unfortunately, I've reached the point where I'm spending far more time fighting with them than actually progressing the story.

So, I've made a decision.

Part One of Memories will be released without animations.

I'm simply not happy enough with the results yet, and I'd rather concentrate on finishing the story than delay it while I try to master something I'm still learning.

It does mean I'll need to create a few additional renders to replace the scenes where I'd originally planned to use animation, so I'm going to skip the percentages this week. The goalposts have moved slightly and giving you numbers at this point wouldn't really tell you very much.

The other downside of all my animation faffing about is that it's taken me away from finishing the script. So yes, it's probably added a little more time to development — but at least I've now stopped disappearing down that particular rabbit hole! 😂

This isn't the end of animation in Shaddolands, though. Far from it. I fully intend to return to it once Part One is finished, when I can spend some proper time learning and experimenting without it holding up a release.

For now, the priority is simple:

Finish Memories Part One and get it into your hands.
