So, I just got reminded of this series and re-read Dark Science from the start because I couldn't remember what point I'd last seen it. Turns out I stopped recognizing things around the middle of 2021 (about when my stepdad died and I became very preoccupied with life's demands). Catching up on five years worth of installments, I kept getting hit with the story and artwork repeatedly getting better, and better, and better. The Elith reveal! Xiaoling! Azmodea and Vonnie! ❤️ Kim transforming, putting out the flame, and finding a new one! (And here I am just a few weeks into finally admitting that ignoring being trans for nearly a decade is NOT working, so some of those land right in the feels.) And this latest transformation... Am I getting the wrong impression here? "I think... it's right here" and subsequent panel, then looking like Kim is suddenly in an outfit more like Ling's... Did they do a fusion? Or do I just have Steven Universe on the brain? 😅 Edit: Nope, there's Ling coming in from off panel. Nice!
I still remember reading that #33 the 1st time and being a bit startled by it.
And still, my nostalgic mind loves the Hob transformation the best (designs using blue being empirically the best /hj)
There's something about giant swords that makes me think of a modern computer being represented by a mile-long slide rule.
