Refreshed Main Menu comes with a brand-new style, tons of quality-of-life improvements, and 37 modular backgrounds.

🟩 No Fullscreen Ads at Launch
Upon launching the game, you’ll no longer be greeted by those full-screen ads promoting new packs, sales, or events.
🟩 Blue Overlay Glitch Fix
If you experienced an annoying blue overlay glitch affecting the main menu, it’s finally a thing of the past! This mod resolves the glitch introduced by Maxis.
🟩 Ultrawide Screen Support
The new main menu introduced by Maxis this year was locked to a 16:9 resolution, leaving wider screens with black bars on the sides. But not anymore! This mod brings full ultrawide screen support — your menu will now cover the entire screen, with UI elements dynamically adjusting to their correct positions.
🟦 Optional: Family Portrait with No Frame
By popular demand, I’ve included an optional file that removes my custom picture frame behind the family portrait. This is yet another optional file to let you make the Refreshed Main Menu truly yours!
🟩 Now you can toggle the family portrait with the F key!
IMPORTANT: It’s impossible to tweak every single portrait size, so I’ve included an optional file called “SmallerFamilyPortrait.” If you use this file, the family will always fit within the picture frame, but depending on the number of Sims, they might appear a bit too small.
If you want your Sims to appear larger, don’t use the “SmallerFamilyPortrait” file. This setup works best for families with 1 OR 4 Sims. Other families will most likely go beyond the frame.
Changes will apply once you refresh your family portrait, such as by deleting the thumbnail cache file.
To better illustrate the issue, here’s a comparison:
HOW TO INSTALL THIS MOD:
1. Put the SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_BASE.package file in your Mods folder.
This file is required for the mod to work.
2. Choose the backgrounds you want from the Backgrounds folder.
You can mix and match the backgrounds. Use all, choose the favorites, or stick to just one – the choice is yours. Previews with names are listed below.
3. The OPTIONAL folder contains optional files to adjust the Refreshed Main Menu to your needs.
☑️ Choose only the features you want to use:
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_AltLogo.package – changes the game’s logo in the upper left corner.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_FamilyPortraitInitiallyVisible.package – makes the family portrait visible by default when entering the main menu; without this file the family is initially hidden and can be seen with the F key.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_FamilyPortrait_NoFrame.package – displays the family portrait without the custom picture frame behind it.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_SmallerFamilyPortrait.package – ensures the family always fits within the custom picture frame (not always necessary, see details in the section above).

This is such a lifesaver for the ad glitch! I thought it was my UI mods breaking until I played with no mods. The flow of the game is so nice with your refreshed loading screen too. My one problem is that I can't use thepancake1's "skip main menu and map" mod to load straight into my household while this mod is taking care of the ad glitch. Is it possible to make this mod (or 3.0) compatible with the menu skip mod, or to create a standalone ad fix?
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, these two mods cannot be combined because they essentially serve as main menu overrides. I would have to recreate the same feature in my mod, but I’m not sure about incorporating a very specific feature from another mod into mine to respect the work of other creators. I’ll see what I can do, though!

I hate to ask this of you because you are different than other creators. We are all different from each other. I love your main menu mod. I just can't stand how small my family is.. And unfortunately, I'm going to compare it to another main menu mod by Lijou ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/main-menu-121080986 ), and yours and theirs are quite similar, except you have the glitch fix which I need and you have the beautiful background photos. So of course I chose yours, but they have the family nice and big on the main screen. And I really like how big it is... Is there any way you can make a version? Or could you tell me how to edit a file to make the family appear big on the main screen? I don't mind going in and editing any file that you tell me to in order to get the family to appear big like that. because I don't have any right to ask you to create a new version of your main menu mod just because I want the family to appear bigger. I'm more than happy to do it myself if you just give me a few simple instructions. The link above is to their main menu mod and you can see how big the family is.

is this known to conflict with better build buy? i know BBB hides the purchase menu and ive been having some BBB issues since the most recent update so i'm trying to narrow down what's clashing
i'm looking for this answer too, and judging by the fact that the standalone remove cart one says it does, i'm guessing it does too. gonna test it and will let you know. i had issues with the blue screen fix.
Matt, I'd just like to say your overrides are excellent. It feels like I'm playing Sims 4 in an alternate universe with your mods installed in the best way possible and it breathes much-needed fresh life into an otherwise aging game.
hi, the main menu mod comes up as broken, I know you've addressed it in the below comment but could you have any idea what could be conflicting ? sorry to ask again :)
I think your best bet is to run your own testing. 1) Take out all except this mod. 2) Run the game and see if it's working okay. 3) Close the game and add in half of your mods, run the game again and see if the issue returned. If it's back, then the conflict is between this mod and one of those you added. Take them out again to a separate folder where you can keep adding in some at a time as you keep looking for which one triggers the conflict.
I think the latest update broke this mod a bit. Nothing major but some UI elements are a bit wonky and it's hard to read the new pack intros when those are installed. I hope this mod won't need a new update for every hotfix & patch for your sake :(

Unfortunately, only a few of the features work for me. I still experience the blue screen glitch, as well as not being able to use the hot keys. I have everything installed as stated. I'm not sure if I have a conflicting mod or not, but I did remove anything related to the Main Menu. I'll try to troubleshoot it some more and find anything that could be causing the issues. Update: I was the issue LOL. Apparently when I was installing the custom backgrounds in my mod folders I forgot to grab the MainMenu package file. So, in conclusion I need to double check behind myself. I'm so sorry!

Wow, thank you for the update, so can I make a folder inside my Mods folder called Simmattically - Refreshed Main Menu v.2.0 and put all the backgrounds and those optional files I need all in there together with SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_BASE.package all in the same folder, does it work? I also love your other Intro Mod, where the Sul Sul should be heared, I installed it days ago, opened my game but I couldn't hear any Sul Sul. I have Scripted Mods and everything enabled and I always clear my caches. Thank you for the update, it's amazing. I love how you include every feature in this mod. No Ads and the portraits look beautiful.
Hey! Thank you 😊 You can organize the files however you like, there’s no specific requirement :) The intro override mod comes in two versions, one with SulSul and one without. Just make sure you’re using the right one and don’t have any other intro overrides in your game!

Sounds like you’re using two different mods for the main menu at the same time. Make sure you’re only using Refreshed Main Menu and no other main menu override.
I'm going to download this now as I recently made a lot of MM through the collab you did with Sims 4 Mod Manager and those backgrounds are no longer working for me. I t would be awesome if we could use those too but it's okay. Thank you so much for this. the MM is boring lol

I was trying to make my own main menu backdrop but im having a hard time trying to figure out how to upload custom main menu files 😅i was wondering if you could drop a tutorial?
Hi, this mod seems to glitch out for me, it leaves this semi-transparent overlay over the top so I can't click load save or anything, I can only press the top right x that closes apps on my laptop. This then brings up the close sims menu which I can click but everything else cannot. This has only happened today, it started with the old one so I updated it to the new one which still has the issue, could it be incompatible with any map overrides or something?

I had one of the others installed prior to the update. now that it's updated and Deleted it's still showing up with my menu selections stacked im not sure what to do. Could someone Help please?
I suggest first deleting cachestr, onlinethumbnailcache, game version.txt, localthumbcache! I always do this in the case of any update and when changing or updating mods that change the interface of the game. And also as an extra step I'd suggest going to the EA app and selecting to repair the game. I *do* want to note though that if you have any in-game lighting mods, that you'd have to reinstall them as repairing the game will remove them and set the game back to its original lighting. I do hope this helps though!

My small request if it's possible is to see the household for resume game. Helps me b/c I play rotating families and do not always want to resume the same family.

Hello! I have this problem as well from different UI mods. Take out every mod that is UI or Map or Main Menu or Font AND TOOL and see if it works. if you can't figure it out I suggest joining simsafterdark and I can help more there

My menu is back to being amazing!!! the fact that "The" and "Household" are stuck onto the loaded save (Meaning my custom households look a little silly, like The Trio being The The Trio Household) so it does bug me, but I assume thats hardcoded. I do also kinda miss the sims being in the frame but I get thats not the goal of the replacement. Just super happy to have this! and with rotating backgrounds now???? You've outdone yourself in such a short time!

This is incredible! I absolutely love it! The regular menu was always giving me a headache and anxiety! You saved me, honestly! I must say that I am missing one thing - seasonal pictures! I set my whole game for winter already and I wish I had a winter/snowy picture for menu. :D <3

I'm not too familiar with mods for TS4, this is one of the few that I have, but since updating, my right main menu bar has been flickering like crazy, do you know if there's a good way to check for conflicts or if it's a case of checking one-by-one? I haven't seen anybody else report this issue so I imagine it's just on my end. I love this mod, by the way, thank you so much! (Edit: Turns out I didn't install the backgrounds correctly, that's all, my bad!) Suggestion: When re-rolling the background, is it possible to have it be a different colour instead of white, something a little gentler on the eyes, perhaps?
Thank you! 😊 Regarding the background color during re-rolling, I’m not sure what’s causing the difference. On my Mac, the background is black, but it shows up as white when testing on Windows. I’ll look into alternative methods to set the color consistently across platforms.
What if everything works except top left corners texts? they are stuck together..
Can you tell me what version of the game and the mod it says you have? It should be in the bottom right corner of the main menu.

can It work in tandem with Dark Mode UI by Dskecht and can you be able to see the UI for the new Reaper's Rewards login event with this?
My mod doesn’t remove any functionality from the original main menu. :) Regarding compatibility with other mods, it depends on the other creators. As long as they don’t override the main menu or their override is optional, everything will work fine.

I checked my mod on multiple machines, with both Windows (DX9 and DX11) and macOS. Everything works as intended, and there are no BE reports showing up. If you encounter any issues, please ensure that your Refreshed Main Menu mod shows version 1.5.1a in the bottom right corner of the main menu and that your game version is 1.109.185. If you still have issues with the mod, make sure there’s no conflict between mods and that no other mod that you have is outdated.

Hotfix for Refreshed Main Menu (version 1.4.5) is out. I’ve fixed a bug in the code that caused the backgrounds to not sync with each other. I sincerely apologize for this mistake and for the frequent updates in such a short period of time. I’m continually working to improve my mod, and sometimes things slip by. Joined to let you know, cleared my mods folder *EDIT* down to *EDIT* just this and was getting a UI exception. Threw this and Better Exceptions in, and was getting a Better Exceptions UI Exception Report too. I do have 1.4.3 Public release installed, wasn't having any sort of exception with the release from a couple days ago!
I don't know what relevant information would help in regards to this, but I own all packs and content tied to the game.

Chu~ 'm extremely sorry for bothering you, but I have encountered an issue with this mod: the custom scenarios simply disappear. I also noticed that for Packs and Kits to appear when choosing their tab for the first time, I first have to click on one of the menu choices (such as "My Kits", "My packs", etc.), otherwise they also stay hidden. Sadly, there are no options to click on in the Custom Scenarios to reveal them. I don't have the same issue with Dynamic Granite Falls. UPD: I have found the culprit - it's the hidden News tab. When I pressed S, the scenarious appeared along with the news. Press S again, and not only does the news disappear, but also the custom scenarious selection. It's the same for Kits and Packs. Is it supposed to work like this? P.S. Also, the custom Custom Scenarios button stops being transparent and flashes white when I hover my mouse over it. The top of the button remains unchanged on the pannel, however, as if drawn on top of it.
I am aware that the Packs, Kits, and Scenarios are initially hidden, and I mentioned this in the post under the "features" section. Regarding the Scenarios button, my custom icon is white, and the button turns white when you hover the mouse over it, so it makes the icon not visible. I’m not sure this is what you mean...?
I chose not to update my game to the newest July patch and probably won't for a while, is this mod compatible with older game versions?
It’s compatible with some of the previous versions. I can’t say for sure if it’s compatible with your version, so the best thing to do is download the mod and try it. In the worst case, it won’t work.

hellooo!! i love your menu mods sm but with the current version, every time i boot up the game after the initial loading screen it only shows a blank white screen :( i made sure that the old files were removed, tried redownloading the files, deleting the localthumbcache file, testing different background files and running the game with only your mod but it doesn’t seem to work :( i only downloaded the base file and one background file “glade”, no optional files
can you tell me if you play on Mac or Windows? And if it's Windows, are you playing with DX9 or DX11?
since i gets rid of the news tab entirely, will there still be a way to get the login rewards when they drop?
I don't really know. I don't know if you have to click on the tile to open the popup and claim it, or if it pops up automatically at startup. Time will tell. If you have to click on the tile, it will be a problem, but I might figure something out.
hey, something strange is happening when I switch TS4 over to DX11 mode- the Scenario Button addon seems to break and I'm left with a llama placeholder icon. Tested this in both regular DX9 and DX11 and it only seems to break on the latter. Not sure why, but everything else works completely as intended. Just thought I'd leave a little note in case anyone's having the same issue ^^;
Thank you for letting me know! For now, we don't know anything about the new DX11 version, so it will probably take some time until I will be able to make it work again. EA did say it will break mods and CC. :(
Hi!! I absolutely adore this mod but just to ask again bc im sure you've already answered, are we supposed to put all of the backgrounds into our mods folder or just the one we want?
You can choose just one, mix and match your favorites, or use all of them. It is up to you! :)
This new updated version is causing texture issue in my game :( I use the BASE and the Mt. Komorebi Train BG, located directly in my Mods folder. When i remove the BG and just have the BASE, it's fine. If I add the BG, it causes issue.
Can you explain what type of texture issue you have?
Hii, so I've downloaded and redownloaded this mod multiple times and it won't load into my game :( I had it installed before but idk what changed to make it do this now
Make sure to remove any of the old files first. I have changed the file naming and how the mod works, so you can't just overwrite the old files. Then download the latest version and follow the instructions from the post! :)
