Sync Guidelines
Our videos are edited in a watch-along format, which means you’ll need your own copy of the film or show to sync with us.
We will always count down 3… 2… 1… START — press play exactly when we say “Start” to stay in sync.
To follow copyright laws and give you the best viewing experience, our reactions must be paired with your own copy of the content. We take copyright very seriously, which is why we do not provide full uncut episodes or movies. Even if you see other creators doing it, that doesn’t make it legal — sharing full studio content crosses into a copyright gray area that we’re not willing to risk for our channel.
Here are some recommended ways to watch along with ease:
• React Sync (Recommended):
The easiest way to watch along is by using React Sync! Simply load our reaction, connect your streaming platform, and React Sync will help keep both videos aligned for a smoother, more immersive experience.
• Dual Monitor Setup:
If you’re on a PC, using two monitors allows you to keep the reaction and your show/movie visible side by side.

Dee is mostly right. And don't apologize for rewatching the episode, especially when you're trying to sync everything up. These lore dumps come fast, and missing one connection can make the whole family tree confusing, so I'm glad you went back for the dialogue. Yes, Suirei is the late emperor's granddaughter through Taiho. The late emperor impregnated Taiho long before Anshi had children with him. Taiho gave birth to a daughter, but because the child was female, the older empress refused to recognize Taiho as empress. Taiho was trapped in the rear palace, while her unnamed daughter was sent away. That daughter later married Shishou, and they had Suirei. So the line is: Late Emperor + Taiho → unnamed daughter Unnamed daughter + Shishou → Suirei Taiho was later forced to serve Shenmei as a lady-in-waiting. The doctor involved was used to cover up the former emperor's actions, which also ties into why palace doctors eventually had to become eunuchs. This all happened roughly 40 years ago, around the era when Luomen was castrated, so this is OLD palace history. Shenmei came later. She was eventually given back to Shishou as a reward, after he had already been with Taiho's daughter and Suirei had been born. Side note, The current emperor's baby who died from the honey is a completely separate plotline. That story is basically finished outside of the Ah-Duo baby-swap theory involving Jinshi, so don't mix that child into this family tree. What this episode is discussing is one of the late emperor's earliest victims, from even before Anshi's time. Anshi actually talked about this period in her teenage flashback. The implication is that after the emperor assaulted the young Taiho, families realized they could send increasingly younger daughters into the palace for political gain. That is part of why Anshi herself was placed there. And Meesh is right about Loulan using the lantern plant as an abortifacient. Remember, there were rumors that Loulan was pregnant. Shenmei wanted Loulan to have the emperor's child so she could potentially become empress and let the clan control the palace from within as Plan B. Loulan refused to continue that cycle. As for the children, Loulan's decision was essentially an act of mercy. Everyone connected to the rebel clan was facing, at best, execution. At worst, they could face torture, slavery, sexual abuse, or other punishment simply for belonging to the family, even if they knew nothing about the rebellion. Her reasoning was that if they were doomed either way, she would spare them that terror. Their final moments were peaceful. They were comfortable, smiling, and surrounded by affection instead of being dragged away in fear and eventually tortured or executed for crimes they had no part in.
I prefer it when they go back, i much rather do that,
ive heard season 3 is split with the movie been between the two halves
I hope the movie will have an international theatrical release
lol cant believe after all this time u still think the baby that jin was swapped with is still alive, it was a boy, killing the children is a mercy, there death woild not be peaceful, prob executed in front of there parents, there is historical context in china for this called nine familia exterminations
Reminder to meesh and dee, that if ah-duo had the babies swapped, which seems plausible, then jinshi would be her son and raised by Anshi, whereas jinshi's son would have been the boy that Funmeng accidentally killed with the honey as a baby. There's only one left. (edit: you guys figured it out in the post-discussion, kudos, nevermind haha) And it's fine if they missed something, they caught a lot of things before, and this show has a LOT of plotlines and hidden lore and i speak from experience when you KNOW something but you somehow say something completely opposite or "forget" because your brain is tired or overwhelmed, especially when they're recording a lot of shows, so that happens :) And it's ok, because they're doing great and much better than many channels i've seen before. But you are correct about the latter part that loulan/shisui putting down the children was an act of mercy in her mind. She was worried that because of the "traitors" label on the whole clan, that the children would be immediately executed publicly, or sold off into slavery or extreme situations or S/A like when some family sold off their daughters to the previous emperor etc... so while it is extremely heartbreaking, you can see why she did what she did up to this episode, and she was saving them from a fate far worse than drifting off to indefinite sleep after drinking juice and reading a book happily instead of morbid fear and pain that would come for them because of the Shi clan's actions.
