Hi Meesh and Dee, thank you for your insights and discussions about the series and also your own lives, you are becoming my favourite reactors. I love this series and the way it faces real problems within a relationship.

BRuh. Feeling extremely single right now watching the first couple of minutes đŸ«  I think technically Wine didn't say she "wouldn't cheat on her friends with benefits partner", she said she wouldn't cheat on her hypothetical partner by having a friend with benefits. It's implied in that situation that Proud would be the partner and Lal would be the fwb, because Lal knows they're fwb, but she wants reassurance that there's nothing between Wine and Proud.

Please keep having those after episode discussions. It helps a lot actually cause I am still figuring out my sexuality lol😭😭and still in my early 20s so listening you guys always feels good!

J
JJ · July 30, 2026

The whole conversation about being accepted for your sexuality seems to be lesser of an issue in some places. Thailand has so many gl and bl series floating around that the film industry is supporting the theory that love is love đŸ§‘đŸ»â€â€ïžâ€đŸ§‘đŸŸ đŸ‘©đŸŒâ€â€ïžâ€đŸ‘©đŸœ đŸ‘©â€â€ïžâ€đŸ‘š. Look how the LP was support by a division of the Thai government. The whole fan service approach adds to getting others to accept same sex relationships as well. Couples go to fan meets in other countries, have their own birthday celebrations, become brand ambassadors. It’s an industry in and of itself. I don’t really like the whole fan service thing as it can sell a false narrative of each person in the duo and of the pair that can get toxic amongst fans
but it accomplishes its purpose. You know this happens when there gets to be a lot of hype when an established couple separate. It can get brutal. 😡 But — here we are and as usual it’s a fun Thursday watching EWB with M & D and everyone. I enjoy getting the background on other actors from the various comments. And I enjoy the many perspectives and opinions of others. đŸ€” Happy to hear that M&D’s engagement with Thai gl’s can stir up conversations that can go deep and last well into the night/morning. Isn’t it exciting to know there is still so much to learn about each other? ❀

Can we just talk about the genius marketing on the juice boxes? The longing shots as the girls drink them, NGL in the first episode when Wine drank one I went looking for them online 😋😋

Numnim is played by Ploy another GMMTV actress. The writer for Enemies with Benefits is Snow Leopard who only showed up in the first episode. She was one of the background characters during the elevator scene when Numnim and Bas were complaining about Wine.

Meesh & Dee, you really have insight on what makes this show so good. Each episode feels fresh because of that shift in focus you mentioned, thanks to great writing, acting, and editing. I'm enjoying your commentary so much. And your love confession at the beginning was adorable!

f
fairy · July 30, 2026

the girl who plays Numnim, Lal's coworker, isn't the novel's author. She was only in the elevator scene for that episode. .. From now on, I'll make sure to have popcorn ready whenever I watch EWB's reactions, because I know there's always going to be a post episode chat. 555.

I'm loving the post-episode discussions! One thing I really love about this show is that whenever Wine and Lal disagree, they both have valid points, they're just coming at things from different perspectives.

One thing i love the most watching your Rv is when you guys are yapping and discussing things at the outro. EWB is so loved by many because its so relatable. Enemies With Benefits is doing relationship development really well. This might be one of the healthiest GL relationships I've watched in a while. Can't wait for the next yapping sessionđŸ€

Episode 5 starts with Wine returning drunk and Lal taking her shoes off and giving her some water while Wine looks seductively at Lal. She was at a meeting with auditor where they had complimentary drinks, just a little, she claims, though Lal thinks she’s clearly drunk. While Wine is kissing Lal, she thinks about their last conversation where Wine claimed that she doesn’t have to take her suggestions so seriously because they’re not dating. But Lal stops her eventually, stating she’s really drunk and should take a shower first. And Wine heads off to the shower with Lal deep in thoughts. After the credits, it’s the next day at work, and Numnim wants to have some contracts and goes to Lal’s cabinet, where Numnim finds the bamboo plant that Lal hid there, and forgot it again. She wants to throw it away, but Lal thinks she still can save it, she wants to give it some water but forgot that in her can is actually coffee. She is clearly already desperate, and right then, Wine comes in and sees the plant. She thinks she still can revive it with more sunlight and some fertilizer, and Lal is really sorry for caring so poorly for the plant. Wine then asks if she hid it in her cabinet because she was afraid she would get mad, and Lal admits it wordlessly. Wine offer to take care of it until it is healthy again, then return it to her. Lal agrees to it, and Wine claims it’s really not that big a deal, and she’s is not mad. Lal then offers to go to a new onsen spa that just opened together, Wine fears that someone might see them, but Lal thinks there will not be many people there, and it’s far from the office. So, they agree to go there together. As Lal makes the reservation Proud comes in with cheesecake for Wine. She brought it for her because Wine posted that she wanted some, but hasn’t replied to her messages yet. Lal offers to bring it to her, and Proud wants to know if they are close. Lal lies that they are not really close, and Proud remarks that Wine never talk about her, but Lal wants to take the cheesecake to her anyway, because she has to go to the accounting department. And Proud hand her the cake. Later that night, Lal and Wine go to the onsen spa, and it offers a special deal – a 10% discount – for those who post and tag the spa in their IG story. Lal is hesitant but Win takes the offer and posts a photo of their display stand and posts it. Wine claims that only close friends follow her IG, so it’s fine to post there. Lal wants to follow her as well, but Wine doesn’t accept follows from people at work, and it’ll look suspicious that she suddenly followed her. Numnim has lost another drink in the company fridge, the fourth this week, and Bas proposes to put laxatives in the drink to catch the thief. Then, they meet Lal and claim they already know about it, they saw it yesterday. But they are talking about New meeting one of their clients whose contract is about to expire. Bas thinks that if that client doesn’t renew its contract, then their suspicions are probably correct. Bas hands her a few photos proving that New is specifically targeting clients of them whose contracts are about to expire, but Lal wants to know how he knows that, as PR shouldn’t have access to that information. Bas thinks they have a traitor in the company. Wine and Tangkwa meet at a cafĂ© and accidentally drinks from Proud’s glass because she doesn’t know she’s there, but Wine has asked them both to come, because she wants to discuss something no one in the office should know. Proud claims more people make things messier, and obviously thinks Tangkwa shouldn’t be involved, but Wine claims she has worked with her for a long time, and can be trusted. Tangkwa volunteers to help with anything for the company, but Proud claims it’s not for the company, what if it’s personal. Wine tells Proud to stop, then asks Tangkwa to help her with something. But we don’t learn what it is. Lal has prepared dinner for Wine, and it’s Nanban fried chicken, one of Wine’s favorite dishes. But Wine claims her next-door neighbor just called and the repairs are finished earlier than expected. She was planning to move her stuff back that night to not trouble her any longer, and Lal offers to drive her back. Wine wants to shower and eat first. At Wine’s apartment, Pu claims they are both so pretty and asks if they’re dating, but Lal lies that they are only coworkers. Pu claims they would make a cute couple, then moves away from a wall with a big hole in it, Pu thanks it’s not a dig deal, but Lal insists on fixing it. Wine guesses she has to stay with Lal a little long, and Lal is fine with it – very fine, actually. 😊But Wine doesn’t want her to think she moved it just for sex, and Lal claims she overthinks too much

but they return to the apartment making out, and Lal places her on the table. They make out a little more, then Wine asks if they could move to the bed, because her back hurts. And Lal is happy to oblige. Numnim and Bas sneak into Lal’s office to tell her New met with her client and the new spa place, and Bas checked who else was there that day and found Wine posting which was reposted by the spa. So they suspect Wine of being the traitor and giving New data, and Lal can’t tell them who Wine actually went with. Lal tries her best to throws them of the case, but they maintain that Wine is still suspicious and will keep digging. Lal scolds Wine for accepting the spa’s follow request, but Wine claims it was just a miscommunication resulting in reposting her post. Lal tells Wine that her team now suspect Wine and New have something going on, and Wine claims if they find out that Lal and Wine went there together, they’re screwed. But Lal claims it’s even worse arguing that Bas thinks New is a traitor, and somebody with access to client contracts helps him, and Wine is now the suspect #1. Wine thinks that even worse than people finding out about them and Lal agrees, claiming the best thing they can do is proving that new has really been stealing client, and that he didn’t get the contracts from Wine. Lal observes New talking to clients, and collects evidence that they are lured to a competitor. As he negotiating for a bigger cut for his heard work, he notices that Lal is filming him and offers her a deal, but Lal is not interested. Then, New claims her team is rubbish and the clients told him this, and argues that her team might be dragged into this if she reports him, and tries to lure her to the competitor. But she doesn’t respond to that cursed deal and drives away. Later, she complains to Wine about New, claiming his gaslighting skills are insane, but Wine claims it’s just basic PR skills being good with words. Wine wants to know what Lal will do now, report him to HR immediately, but Lal claims she wants to handle a few things within her team first and strengthen things up, so that her department isn’t caught in the crossfire. Wine asks what about the people suspecting her, and Lal promises to talk to her team about that. But Wine doesn’t know if only Bas and Numnim know about her past with New or if other people know as well. Wine understands that Lal loved her team, but personal relationships as coworkers are one thing and doing what’s right professionally is another. If she can’t handle this herself, she should HR let it handle it instead. The next day, the sales department is in chaos as Lal arrives, because Numnim hast lost the company credit card. She tells them to freeze the card immediately – but Jantra comes in asking Lal if there’s anything she should tell her. In a one-to-one conversation, she tells her she understands that she’s new at the company, so she probably doesn’t realize that what she’s doing might be covering up employee misconduct. She claims that she didn’t cover anything up, she just wanted to handle it herself first. But Jantra argues that some things are beyond her capabilities, and Lal claims to just want to give people a chance. Jantra clearly doesn’t understand that as she thinks she’s giving someone who’s stealing from the company a chance, and Lal realizes Jantra is not talking about her team, and wants her to clarify. Jantra is talking about New from PR, and claims she knows she found out that he violated company rules and helped a competitor, yet she didn’t report him immediately. Lal admits that she has been slow to react. Jantra wants this to be the last time a team leader tried to cover up another team leader’s misconduct. And Lal agrees. She runs into New who has packed his things, and he thinks it was her who reported him, but she wasn’t, and after another attempt at gaslighting her, he claims that someone around her can’t be trusted, and ratted him out. Numnim later Lal to punish her for being the weak link, and wants to cover the damages for the credit card herself, with Bas offering to take the blame in her stead. Lal just smiles and tells them there is no need to fall onto each other’s swords, as the card was found by housekeeping in a restroom and she already got it back. But she wants them to be more careful next time, and freeze the card if it gets lost again immediately. And she already got the client back for another two years, because he preferred their team’s service. Speaking to all, she claims she’s not looking for someone who doesn't make mistakes, but for someone who takes responsibility for both their mistakes and their successes. As Lal returns to the condo, Wine asks if she has eaten, but Lal wants to talk immediately about the company and asks her if she reported New to HR, and she admits it. Lal wants to know why she didn’t wait for her to report it, but Wine feared New would keep stealing clients, but she didn’t report anything about her team. Lal still thinks she should have waited for her instead of going on her own, but Wine claims if management found anything unusual, then the accounting team would be the first to get investigated, so she had to follow regulations. Lal thinks it’s all about protecting herself, and accuses her of forgetting that she worried Lal would get in trouble. Wine claims they’re both angry right now and shouldn’t talk about it. She gets a call from Proud, agrees to meet with her and heads out. Later, Lal can’t sleep and debates with herself about texting Wine. Then, she realizes that Wine made her dinner and tries to call her – but Wine replies and claims that Wine is too drunk to reply. As Lal gets to them, Wine is unresponsive, and Proud claims it’s from just one strong drink, but Wine get drunk from just the smell, Lal claims. Wine mumbles an offer for Lal to drink with her, but Lal claims she should speak clearly when inviting someone else, and wants to take her home, but Proud reminds her that she said they weren’t close, and asks Lal directly if they are dating. Lal denies it again, and Proud thinks she’s not Wine’s type anyway, which get Lal to add that they are not dating – yet. At home, Lal start to wipe down Wine first as Wine claims to be sorry for telling Jantra, but she only did it because she was really worried about her, and Lal claims she knows and wants to talk about it the next day, but Win claims she is sad because Lal said she did it for herself. Lal is sorry, but Wine is still mad about it. Lal asks her what she has to do for her to forgive her – and Wine just cuddles with her, and soon, they start to make out. The next day, Tangkwa arrives at the office – but Proud is already there, and tells her they’ll be seeing each other every day from now on, as she hands her a file and claims she knows she doesn’t like her, but this is work, and she hopes she can keep her personal feelings separate from it. Tangkwa confirms that she can, and asks her what she can help her with. Proud wants to know who wine is dating. Medsai looks at Wine’s post and sees Lal’s in a reflection. Lal has made breakfast porridge for them, and Wine wants to know if Proud called her last night to pick her up, but Lal claims she was still working at that time. She then wants Wine to confirm that there is nothing but a junior-senior relationship between her and Proud, as she just wants to be sure claiming as an FWB, she wouldn’t feel comfortable if she was dating someone. Wine vow to really just see her as a younger sister, and Proud probably used to feel something but she already cleared things up with her honestly, and there is nothing between them anymore. And she claims she would never cheat on her partner with an FWB. Lal apologizes for speaking too harshly earlier, and she knows Wine just worried about her and the company. And Wine apologizes for not discussing things with her first, and claims she just doesn’t like it when they fight. And she hold her hand as she tells her if there’s something they doesn’t understand, they should talk it through properly. She wants to stay like this with her, be each other’s safe space. Lal tells her that the rules of FWB is not to talk about personal things, but she wants to talk to her about everything, because she feels really comfortable telling her everything, and she wants her to feel comfortable telling her everything, too. Wine wants that, too, and argues they don’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else, as long as they understand each other, that is enough. Lal proposes to be FWB, exclusively for the two of them, Wine agrees, and they kiss again. And that’s where the episode ends. ____ So, they just redefined FWB as being in a committed relationship?!?!? That’s not FWB!!! 😉 – This episode had not much in the Tangkwa/Proud department (which is also not in the novel), but the first fight between Lal and Wine, and in the end, they are dating, but not calling it that way. Denial must be a river in Thailand, for sure. 😊 This episode wasn’t as laugh-out-loud funny as the previous ones but showed clear signs that Wine cares for Lal as vice versa, though they are still not daring to call it a relationship. We got rid of New – who was also a minor character in the novel – and I guess that Proud is still hanging on to hope with Wine. I wonder what Medsai will be doing now she has seen Lal was with Wine at the spa.

The girl on Lal's team is not the producer or the writer (that I'm aware of). She did however play with Jan in another show. There were comments in previous episodes/reactions that mentioned that the extra on the far left of the screen during the elevator scene was the writer of the novel (Snow Leopard). She is not a regular or have a speaking role. She also appeared in whale store (since she wrote that novel as well). They might continue to include her in all the shows based on her books but it'll likely always be an extra. Kinda like Stan Lee's appearances in marvel movies.
