Cannot express enough how excited and happy I am for you guys to be watching this show 😭😭😭 AOT and FMAB are the two animes that truly changed my life forever. And FMAB holds such a special place in my heart, I literally have a fullmetal tattoo ❤️🦾 Can't wait! Love you guys!

So the original FMA started back in 2003 FMAB the one you guys are watching started in 2009 and AOT started in 2013. The date in Crunchyroll is just when they got the rights to license the series. I'm so happy you both admitted that you missed the Japanese after watching not even 1 full episode of English dub haha. The dub is definitely good but I stand by the Japanese being just so much better ! Nonetheless I'm still watching with you guys in English lol so excited for you guys to continue this series :)

Hey there Meesh and Dee! I'm happy to see you like FMAB already. Between AOT, FMAB, and Mighty Nein they're all series I love watching and glad you both do too. It's a great time 1) 2 Full Metal Alchemist Animes: Meesh mentioned that there was another FullMetal Alchemist anime and that's true. How I have heard it explained is that the 1st Full Metal Alchemist anime came out as the manga was still in production, so it hadn't finished and major parts of it are different. Once the manga finished Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood came out, supposedly more accurate to the manga, and having watched both anime the whole way through, I can say Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is qualitatively much better for reasons I can't say at the moment. You both chose a great anime to watch! 2) FMAB's Music: Something I have to say I think you'll enjoy a lot is the opening and ending anime music as well as the OST music in the episodes. When the chorus and strings come in during episode one. It's when the water alchemist realizes the Elric brothers' secret, the music is immensely effective at empowering the drama of the scene and giving weight to it. 3) "Dark": Oh and after listening to the after talk it sounded like you're anticipating FMAB won't be dark. I think it's more than fair to say AOT is darker than a lot of anime I've seen so, it may be that coming from a place of extremely dark themes and depictions will make anything else not seem dark at all. Like eating pure dark chocolate that's 70% for awhile then having pure dark chocolate that is 30%. Ultimately it's all subjective but I'd say just wait and keep watching

Yeah the original FMA anime was a little bloated and long, with a bunch of added plot that doesn't actually happen in the Manga, although apparently the longer show allowed for more character growth and also better action scenes. But Brotherhood is much more accurate to the manga, much more easy to consume, and also has a better art style overall, so it's generally considered the better of the two.

So excited. With AoT this is another top 5 fav for me. If it gets distracting and not being used to the dub after a while I'd say switch if you'd be more comfortable. But yeah the cast is stacked and its well done, maybe just need some getting used to of course
