New here, they drop AOT on sunday aswell?
yes
Eren lost his full-of-emotion self after kissing Historia's hand and learning the truth
just a fun fact: Remember Eren looking into a Mirror and saying “fight” “tatakae”?? well thats Eren sending his own memory of himself in the mirror to both grisha and kruger (and theoretically older Attack Titans as well) asking them to move forward and fight. the memory they will receive is eren saying “fight” directly face to face.
You can feel bad for Eren because Titans ate his Mom, Hannes, his comrades, and his friends because of Marley.
It's kind of scary how "fighting for their own people" is so culturally ingrained as a good thing across most human cultures, nationalism is so ingrained in us, when nations are just all in our heads. AoT picks at the current human nature/culture very well, even the reasons we find to symphatize with either Eren or Zeke can be scary when put under a miscroscope. Even for Eren "his own people" must have a cut off somewhere, where do you draw the line, at the Founder Ymir? She presumably had parents who were not Eldians culturally yet. But Zeke's plan is also stupid, just like Eren he thinks the focus is "his people", but the problem with (even fictional) humanity is not any one peoples. Godly power got handed down to two jaded brothers, I don't think we need to agree with either of them.
Welcome to Attack on Titan lol
"I think this is the TRUE story." HAHAHAHA how many times have we all said that since S1 E1? Also @Meesh/Dee, after you finished watching next episode, (since i already know you're ahead), take a look at the title of S4E21 and S1E1 title :) Isayama (writer) is just flaunting his genius this entire time :D
Eren's "emo" phase started when he kissed historia's hand, and inherited his dad's memories of future eren and what ACTUALLY happened in this episode. --- What you're thinking about dee at 29;30 is Arrival. The Attack Titan powers is quite literally the power from the language of Arrival. (that also may or may not be the reason why you were recommended to watch that movie and the other you saw is also Lilia from Agatha All Along) because it helps you grasp this concept of "it's the future but also past" and "someone living out of time". This is very similar here to what the attack titan's power is claimed...technically. Except the attack titan power can only see the future of its future inheritors if someone inherited it. And only the lineage/ancestors can get those future visions. But BECAUSE eren ALSO ate grisha, who saw that fufture, then he inherited grisha's memories, like a cloud drive memory, and whatever grisha downloaded ffrom future eren, got passed on to current eren, but they were unorganized and unsorted, and it took eren a while to unlock everything, evne though he "downloaded" these memories when he kissed historia's hand at the end of season 3. THATS WHY EREN HAS BEEN ACTING WEIRD AND DEAD INSIDE since end of s3, because for the first time, eren saw not only what grisha did, but what FUTURE eren made him do, and realized what he has to do, and how horrible his actions are going to be..hence the emo mode.
Eren, he's always been this way, because he was born into this world. This is a post with a bit of a mind breaking question for Meesh, not a spoiler of the future story, but it's a pondering thought based on the info we know, but considering you're not looking at patreon comments for a while, i'll leave it here for context of this story, since you kinda already touched on that, but i'm bringing it more into emphasis at how amazingly written this show is: One interesting question to ponder: Grisha said that the attack titan can see the future memories of its future inheritors right? and has always defied the royalty, always fighting for freedom right? Now the chicken or the egg question: is eren driven for freedom because of the attack titan, or has the attack titan been driven to always defy the power and look for freedome BECAUSE eren eventually inherits it and so eren's own memories drove the past titans to this point. It's a toss up based on the info we know now. What's sad though, just to argue with Dee a bit: Eren's interesting here because you can't say he's the good guy anymore but also to feel a bit for eren: Eren's entire thing is that he's the embodiment of freedom... and yet since the attack titan powers show the "sealed fate" from the memories, even Eren, the strongest being with the founding titan, he himself is a slave to his own future self, because he knows what can happen and what should happen, because of the memories that he inherited from eating grisha (who inherited the memories of ffuture eren). Like Kenny said : everyone's gotta be a slave to something, to keep moving forward. So Eren's a tragic tale here.
First, the Attack Titan's ability to see into the future is limited to being able to see the future memories of its future's holder. That's why Kruger knew about Armin and Mikasa without knowing who they were in the first place. Also Grisha can see Eren and Zeke because he is seeing both of them through Eren's memories. And yes, Eren was purposely feeding Grisha only bits and pieces of his own memories. That's why Grisha doesn't know that Carla died when the walls fell. Now the scene of Eren kissing the hand is when he kissed Historia's hand back at the medal ceremony back near the end of Season 3 when he had a moment. Lastly, remember when Eren talked to Zeke in Marley and he told him about witnessing Grisha killing the royal family? Remember he said how he was disgusted by it? Hint: Eren was disgusted by it because he had to force Grisha to kill the royal family. He was disgusted by the fact that Grisha, his father, didn't have it in him to kill women and children. 🤯 Yeah Eren is built different...😂 P.S. Time doesn't really matter in the paths. Thousands of years can pass in paths but in the real world it could be just a fraction of a second. Also you don't age while in the paths because time effectively has no meaning there.
"why can grisha see eren". eren is an attack titan future inhahiror and grisha has the attack titan. so he gets glimpses of memories through eren's eyes of what he sees. so basically grisha cant see eren, but instead he sees himself through erens eyes so he knows eren is there. thats why grisha can see zeke at the end, cuz during that scene eren is directly looking at zeke. ;)
Next freaking episode boiiiiiiii 💚
honestly....... forget the reaction, you two are cute as fuck together hahaah and really funny :)
TOp 3 episodes of TV. PERIOD.
“grass allergies” 😂
zeke has daddy issues. eren has mommy issues. 🙃
I’m a born Jaegerist 🤞🏾🔥🔥
I think people forget about the world and Marley are still trying to kill everyone on the island. So whenever u see Eren do things, remember, the world is trying to kill his people off and he got no choice
time to Buckle Up™
One of the most iconic anime episodes, period. When it came out it went super viral.
To answer your question near the end, I think porco saw those memories of marcel while he was touching reiner because his brother was the jaw titan and reiner was in those memories, so touching reiner sparked the memories of the past jaw titan that featured reiner. I dont think it had anything to do with eren but I could be wrong 🤷. Its the same as eren seeing his fathers memories after touching his fathers books
i think the safest argument is that it may not matter but every time we've seen this "memories unlocked" situation involved either a royal (like historia and her dad and historia and ymir's note), OR the founding titan. So eren being conncted to reiner and porco might have been at least a"Spark" or catalyst that made SURE porco got those memories due to trigger event. That's what lead porco to know the truth and ultimately porco saved reiner. Why do i say that ? because it's not hte ffifrsrt time that reiner and porco touched eachother. Porco saved reiner before in a battle, and reiner grabbed porco from eren during the libelo incident and nothing triggered.Although one can argue that reiner wasn't "feeling it" back then, but stil. Eitherway though, ultimately it doesnt matter as much but eren being a spark-catalyst here would make sense since he'sthe founder/coordinate, and all the memories and all titans are connected to the Paths, and so reiner/porco/marcel's memories kinda got bridged together, as if eren was the bridge or modem network, and reiner was the LAN cable, and porco basically accessed the "Path's " cloud storage and downloaded marcel's memories that were not unlocked before
can I ask why u cover up half the screen for these uncut reactions? I thought patreon didn't bother with copyright
It helps people sync their copy to the reaction. Patreon could change their copyright monitoring strategy at any time which would put anyone distributing full episodes in a really bad spot. Better to be safe than risk losing their Patreon (or worse) overnight
Amazing reaction. Amazing outro. Amazing EPISODE. Yes, we love the long discussions. Yes, we find you guys hilarious. And yes, seriously can't get enough of these uploads as we continue on this journey. THANK YOU for it all!
love your reaction and how you guys always dissect the best parts of the show. Also its very interesting hearing your guys' POV of Eren and how humanizing your opinion of Zeke is. I just wanted to point out one thing regarding Eren because i heard Dee mention how we got a lot of things to feel bad for Zeke but not much going on for Eren. The entirety of the first 3 seasons were filled with sorrow and messed up events because of the titans' siege on their homeland, his mother being eaten infront of him and all the messed up things he and his friends had to go through (almost losing Armin Etc.. etc..). theres a lot of humanity in Eren and a lot of sadness that turns to be overlooked in season 4 (which is reasonable) cause the season really doesnt focus on him at all and instead it's towards other characters and their story building. I am not convincing you guys of my opinion regarding Eren am just merely mentioning the human side of Eren that can easily be forgotten because of how hectic the final season is. Much love <3
I'll always think Grisha was bad for what he did to Zeke. He's as complex as the rest of them and a victim of circumstances himself, but he 100% could have treated Zeke like an actual son, big plans or not. Nothing would have prevented him from giving Zeke love or spending time with him. Also we got to see premium face card Eren this episode.
Eren the puppet master Jaeger 👑🐐🔥 Also one thing to consider, Zeke maybe easier to sympathize with at this point especially after his heart breaking moment with Grisha but remember that Zeke also commits genocide against his own people. Zeke has massacred hundreds of Eldians throughout his life. Don't forget he's also the reason Erwin is dead and Levi is in an unknown state as of now. Zeke wants to euthanize Eldians because it's the most "peaceful" option, but he also kills scouts while he mocks them and spits on them. (referring to his genocide of the scouts in last season). Sure Eren killed many civilians back in Liberio but remember his expressions are emotionless and cold. He kills because he knows what needs to be done and he stays on course, never straying from his goal. Not like Zeke who kills then laughs and screams "GOAL" as he massacres his own people. My point, is not to side with Eren (because Eren has done awful things as well) but its to bring up the awful things Zeke has done to help counter his argument for wanting a "peaceful" solution. It reminds me of Arcane, when Caitlyn asks Ambessa: "Why is peace always the justification for violence?"
Eren really is a more interesting bran
A couple of things you should go back and watch that will amplify this episode a bit more: Episode 1 - If you look at Grisha when he says he will show Eren whats in the basement they don't actually show who he is looking at so in this episode its a shock when hes staring at the future Eren as he is saying this. Season 3 Finale - When Eren kisses Historias hand (which is that short clip they show after Grisha slaughters the Reiss family) this is essentially the moment where Eren's whole mentality changed as he was flooded with memory overload, causing his complete mental spiral into what we have here now.
Eren has been consistently written and watching the story move around him is incredible storytelling. He never lied to Zeke. He was dissapointed in what he saw in his father's memory. Just fantastic.
for me, this is the best chapter of this show
Nobody will make me hate you EREN.
Tremendo!! <3 <3
HOLY CRAP HERE WE GOOOO
