He's still considered E-rank publicly since they said he wouldn't be officially assessed & announced as S rank until 3 days later. He's still 24 years old, same as he was in the 1st episode of the series. Its only been a few months.

Hwang Dongsoo is the S-rank that wants to kill Jinwoo and Jinho. Jinwoo is going into the gate so he can pretend that he got the Sphere of Avarice there and sell it. He actually got it from the dungeon with the ingredients for the elixir. Mining an A-rank gate he can just say he found it in there. Even if he is re-evaluated as an S-rank, he's never been in a gate that would have an artifact as good as the sphere. IIRC that dungeon is an S-rank dungeon, so there's no way he could say he got it from the C-rank gates he's been going through.

From what i understand is that Jin-woo went to the A-rank dungeon because of the orb (magic item) he got in the demon tower (castle). He wanted to sell the orb for money, but needed a reason to explain how he got that orb (an A-rank item), while being an E-rank hunter. Jin-woo wanted to make up the story that he found it in that A-rank dungeon. While he still was an E-rank hunter (re-assessment wasn't fully complete yet), he needed to work as a miner to even get access to that dungeon. I hope this explains it well enough :3

The S rank brother Hwang Dongsoo was saying that jinwoo's dad looked so brutal and monstreous that he BELIEVES him to be a beast and not human, because he looked inhuman to him in his monstrocity and how his ass got WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOPEEDDDD so hardddd
