I'm so happy it's the weekend so I can catch up. So tempted to give out far too much info. "I like Percy. I like the twins. I like her scar." Also, her headaches are due to her being a ranger. Rangers get a favored enemy and can sense it.
The one gnome (?) council woman that sounded familiar is voiced by Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn 99, Encanto)
The Minotaur barkeep is voiced by nonbinary actor Mason Alexander Park (who is awesome in Sandman)
To be clear, "Critical Role" is a group of very talented voice actors that are friends / husbands / wives of each other, and as a fun weekly thing several years ago they started a DnD game together. After they started playing, they put it on twitch for fun, it blew up and was at certain points the most subbed / lucrative twitch channel. They ran a few campaigns (currently on campaign 3?) of playing weekly and they developed a huge fanbase that crowdfunded for them to make a show themselves. The first 2+ seasons of the show are the story they created together in their DnD group. Its voice acted basically by the same group of friends plus their other friends/connections and is very much a passion project.
Quickie history of Critical Role: The voice actor for Scanlan wanted to try playing D&D and invited his voice actor friends. They had a blast, continued playing, started streaming their play sessions, started a Kickstarter to animate an episode of Vox Machina, raised $11 million, and Amazon threw in some more money for an entire season. The show does a great job of introducing the world, so you don't need to know much about D&D going into the show. So, buckle up and enjoy the ride! I'll help y'all out if there is some confusion :)
Would definitely recommend a deep dive on the voice cast for season 1 and 2. The amount of amazing talent in this even for the small parts is insane. The palace guard that says "The bear stays outside" was voiced by Logic the rapper.
Scanlan Shorthalt is my spirit animal. We almost share the same height.
Also, it is one of those that gets better as it goes! So I am excited to see what you think!
Ooo good to know!! Ty :)
