Castle of Vice – Development Diary #19 (New Attitude Level and Ero Action)
Hello everyone! I hope you had a good Friday.
For those who are not in the know, the next update of CoV (Alpha 0.13) will add the next and final Sexual Knowledge level, the Receptive attitude, and the implementation of the V. Penetration ero action for enemies. I know some of you were probably expecting the inclusion of A. Penetration; however, there are some assets I still need to prepare for it, so I hope you can wait a couple more months for it to become available.
In any case, the main additions for this update are the Receptive attitude and the V. Penetration, which bring new expressions and voice lines for Annelise. To be more specific, the new ero action and attitude increase the number of Annelise’s responses by 109, each with a new voiced dialogue line from the VA.
Another small thing I’ll be adding is a change to the nude portrait animation when you enter the ‘Lewd Development’ or ‘Lewd Experiences’ window. Annelise will now have a different response when you open these windows while her attitude is Flexible or Receptive.
I decided to add this since it is another cool way to show how Annelise’s corruption is progressing.
Finally, there will be one last change in terms of gameplay. I’m sure some of you have noticed that the ero damage reduction for the Handjob and Footjob actions currently takes the lowest level among the developed body parts and applies its reduction. Instead, the game will now take the levels of all developed body parts, calculate their average, and use the result to determine the damage reduction for these actions. This should help considerably when trying to defeat enemies using the Handjob ero skill.

Big content update coming, nice. I'm really excited, and I have a few comments about cursed equipment. I'm curious as to why there's only 4 slots for equipment, because right now, you can't actually have all the cursed equipment at once, one is missing. Also, I feel like it would be cool if cursed equipment didn't auto-unequip at the end of a run and instead you had to spend level points at the start or at a merchant to remove it. It makes it a bit easier to get development since you don't need to hunt down the equipment every run.
Glad to hear you are excited for the update. At the start of the project, I didn’t really design the number of equipment slots around the number of available cursed equipment, but around the advantages normal equipment gives. I intend to revisit this decision later since a fifth slot may be useful in future updates. That aside, filling all slots with cursed equipment is not really something you want to do, since it not only lowers your health, but also prevents you from having regular items that allow you to stay in combat and erotic sequences longer, like the constitution ring. I would say having 2 cursed equipment at a time is the right idea. Farm their permanent ero-traits and then move to the next pair of cursed equipment on your next run. You don’t need to hunt for different cursed equipment if you do this, because the game prioritizes giving you the cursed equipment for which you don’t have the ero-traits unlocked. As for the last part, cursed equipment has one of two purposes depending on your type of playthrough. During a corruption playthrough, it assists in increasing the ero XP gain of a body zone. But during a pure playthrough, it becomes a penalty that doesn’t allow you to equip other normal equipment. I would be double-penalizing players in a pure playthrough if the cursed equipment can only be removed by consuming the currency that is meant to be used to gain advantages. With that being said, I understand the value your idea has on a corruption playthrough. So, I propose that you suggest it on my Discord server, and if a lot of players share interest in it, I will work on implementing it.

I thought this was the final attitude level, which is required for the full lewd ending, is that no longer the case?
No. no. There is a bit of a misunderstanding there. Sexual Knowledge levels and Attitudes are not the same. Basically, what I meant there is that the last Sexual Knowledge level will be available ALONGSIDE the receptive attitude. I haven't cancelled adding the other attitudes at all.
