Coming Soon - 1.9: The Rebirth Update
=========================
Lustiest Lair Expanded 1.9: Rebirth is coming soon!
"How soon is 'coming soon'?"
Before the end of 2026, I think. I don't want to give myself too specific a deadline. The Workshop update got really stressful the last time I did that!
"What's in this update?"
This update focuses on improving the quality of the game's writing, artwork, and general polish. The original Lustiest Lair was kind of messy in places, with art and writing of inconsistent quality. Much of the old content is going to be uplifted and unified, or at least vastly improved.
1.9 will also focus on improving the early game. The Old Road is being reworked, tutorials are being added, and many early-game enemies are being given fun new skins, like you can see above!
There's going to be some new enemies and a new boss for the ruins. This will be the official 'First Boss' of LL:E that the player will encounter, and it will replace the necromancer.
Every single class is going to get class-specific dialogue, instead of just generic dialogue like how the base game works. This is an absolutely massive undertaking and I don't know why I'm doing this to myself. By the end of 1.9, LLE will have more written words in it than Darkest Dungeon and all its DLCs combined.
"How much is complete already? Is there a list of specific changes?"
On top of checking the changelogs that have already been published, a while ago I created a master list of all planned changes in 1.9, it's free for anyone to look at.

I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am! Now if you'll excuse me, I have an absolute shit-load of work to do =w=
Thanks for being patient with me,

Hi, I've been playing v1.8 on Nexus Mod, and would like to post a review that I believe would help improve v1.9 when it comes out! Firstly, I'd like to thank you for expanding the mod, really liked the original and when I found the LL:E I was really excited, however there's some stuff that made it slightly annoying/frustrating when dealing with. 1) Workshop - I'm on week 39, have fully upgraded Lady's guild and slut smith to the max, have lvl 5 and lvl 4 heroes in the roster, and I still haven't unlocked this region. So I think it would've been nice to have in v1.9 to unlock normally like other regions or tweak it so that it wouldn't be that heavily RNG dependent to be unlocked. 2) Same goes for the Dollmaid class, haven't encountered her in stagecoach, so I think making her appear as town event (similar how shieldbreaker, runaway and dualist does) would be nice. 3) Poltergeist - she's becoming very annoying to deal with when you're using low speed roster or have been debuffed by pregnancies. My problem with Poltergeist is that she gets to have free action after capturing the girl and going into stealth and going into backline, on top of having dodge and high speed. Once you free her, Poltergeist can just spam capture again and goes into steatlh yet again. This sucks especially when she captures one of the girl that has de-stealth skill, on top of her actions dealing stress damage. My suggestion would be to get rid of the stealth or nerf Poltergeist's dodge, so that dealing with her would be less tedious. 4) Mimics - similar to poltergeist, they punish low speed team a lot, I've run Crusader, Hellion, Antiquarian, Vestal. My Hellion's speed got debuffed by pregnancies, so when Antiquarian got captured and I break through block to free antiquarian, on the next round Mimic captures antiquarian again and goes into block while dealing stress damage to the whole party, making my crusader and vestal die from stress. I'd personally lower block from 2 to 1, so that once you freed the girl, you get to chip damage Mimic with the third person before Mimic gets to capture someone again. Also, I think it would be nice to get skeleton key back upon defeating the mimic if you used the key to open the chest. Bugs I've encountered: 1) When killing mimic with riposte (when it has a girl captured), it just dies and round ends, so you don't get the loot.
Hi! Thanks for taking the time and effort to write all this. I'm gonna respond point for point. 1 - The Workshop is a mid-to-late game area. Please check the FAQ to make sure you're not committing any of the classic blunders when it comes to unlocking the workshop, because the chances of that town event occurring are actually insanely high. If you have a bunch of other mods adding town events you're gonna have difficulties, for instance. 2 - Dollmaid is unlocked through a town event triggered by a quest in the workshop, not through the stagecoach. 3 - Portalgeist has actually been nerfed a couple of times already since 1.8. I think 1.82 and 1.83 have both nerfed her? She had a couple issues that made her difficult to fight in certain situations. 4 - I love the mimics in their current state. They perfectly perform their role of punishing players who don't carefully consider curio interactions, or aren't paying attention. Either avoid them or use the correct item on the chest :) They're a knowledge check. Bug 1 is already fixed as of 1.83 :)
Any chance when a heroine is trapped the monsters will be able to use that heroines pixels instead of a placeholder?
Absolutely zero. Not possible in-engine.
The quality of your mod surpasses every other mod I've ever seen! I'll keep supporting you.
Only reason why I have DD, I'm happy that it's getting an overhaul
I have a question: so I have Xelswords replacers for Heroes, NPCs, and Monsters; can one use both those and your mod or are they mutually exclusive?
Why are you even asking homie just use them and find out. But yes they work together, although some heroines will occasionally be glitched out and chopped into little pixel pieces.
Great work on this mod! You've prob heard this one, or are already tuning it, but a turn ceiling on when a unit is restrained/banged out of your party would be a HUGE QoL improvement. Both of my heroines for the tutorial were enslaved...on Radiant difficulty because one was restrained, so the remaining unit was effectively soft-locked from defeating basic-ass bandits. I've been playing DD for years, and I've never lost a party member on the tutorial, let alone on Radiant. Anyway, great work, and I'm looking forward to your next update.

New enemies and a new boss, Fuck I can't wait :D
Great job 👌
I know that it's pretty unrealistic for now but are there are any plans for the future to get a custom voice acting narrator ancestress? I feel like this could bring the immersion of the mod to the next level
1.9 is focusing on improving the quality of existing content. Completely overhauling the narration would take months of work, writing, and some very expensive voice work. It'd be basically it's own entire major update.
