Question for Patrons:
What are people's thoughts about things that would qualify as Fan-fictions?
For example, I feel like a telling of the cycle of Reincarnation from the Legend of Zelda series could be fascinating for the format I write in. Exploring the actual relationships between Link, Zelda and Ganondorf in a more grounded and realistic version of Hyrule, exploring the actual relationships that would grow, how things would go, and what I would want for the next games (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were fun, but I didn't really like them as "Legend of Zelda" games, they didn't fit the genre for me).
I could see doing that, and maybe others.... As I plan for the future, is that something people would enjoy, or should I shelf that and ideas like that for later?
As I think I've stated, when the need hits me, I take a day or two and write the first chapters of future works, and I intend to post a bunch of "first chapters" here to allow you all to vote on which stories I devote time and effort to in the future, once my current stories have reached their conclusions and I'm ready to add new ones into the rotation. I have a few that have insisted I do a first pass over them in order to get them out of my head before I could work on my current projects (Curse you, ADHD!!!) but I need to know if I am wasting time with these adaptation ideas, or if they could actually be something people would enjoy. I feel like there is a lot of wasted potential in current universes, and while creating my own is fun... It's much the same as it is with stories on Literoticia. I read (play) a story (game) and say, "Wow, that was so freaking dumb... that was nonsensical. I could do better." and the desire to write my own version flourishes. I think on the FanFiction versions, I could quash the desires because "Not my circus, not my monkeys", but if you'd all like to see what grand epics I could turn these into, just let me know. I'll leave this pole going for a while... Unless the overwhelming result is to make them... then I'll close it because, damnit, that would definitely mean I'm making them.

I agree with Tim Keith, I'm hoping you will keep working on 'A Hero's Rebirth', can't wait for the next installment.
It is still in rotation, and I'm not stopping until it is done.
I'd enjoy seeing your spin on these worlds, as it would give you space to explore the mundane between the fantastical. Like the crazy stories on what Link apparently eats in BotW to get his reputation as a living garbage disposal. The trick would certainly be putting your own spin on it. Like how each LoZ game is it's own thing, you have your own goals. Don't just rehash an existing story with small flairs.
I have an idea, to be sure. Because, to be honest, while Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are fun... even Nintendo says they aren't one any official time-lines. They're as close to non-cannon as you can get. The writing was lazy too. Like when asked what happened to the Divine Beasts and the towers/shrines from Breath of the Wild in Tears of the Kingdom, the devs just said, "... they just disappeared one day." They didn't even really FEEL like Zelda games to me. It got me thinking, if I could make a Legend of Zelda game, what would the story be? Because my wife's biggest complaint about them was that for how big the games are, the story is practically non-existent. So I'll be looking to do a story on one of the time-lines, keep it as close to cannon as possible, but show what a canonical story COULD be. (But yes, food instead of hearts for realism, and he'll probably absolutely eat some things that make people scratch their heads.)
If it is something you want to do, then I wouldn't mind a fanfiction story being thrown into the rotation (preferably after 1 or 2 in the current rotation are completed). However, I don't play videogames with storylines and I don't watch much TV/movies. I don't really have much interest in reading about something I already don't care much about
See, I'm hoping the story stands alone. I wouldn't do a story that you NEEDED to play the games for it to make sense. Ideally, unless you knew the series, you wouldn't even know it is a fanfiction. That's the goal. So I guess I post the chapter and see if I have enough to af that the story is good.
You write whatever refills the writer's well, brother.
Lol. I sometimes don't have a choice in the matter. But if it's something no one wants, I won't waste my editor's time, or put extra effort into putting out new chapters. Sometimes even stories I love (like A Hero's Rebirth) I have to force myself to write. I love the story, but my ADHD brain is chasing a squirrel. So I force myself to write it because 1) I want it written, 2) You all want it written, and 3) Goddamn it, I'm gonna finish these stories. I do allow myself a certain amount of time to chase the squirrels though...
Okay incoming word vomit, here goes, considering that I am currently playing Breath of the Wild killing time until the next chapter of A Hero’s Rebirth is released this idea sounds amazing to me. I would love to see your take on the Zelda universe, exploring the relationships between the characters and while I would never try to influence how you write a story it’s my hope that you don’t forget Fi… I know amongst the fan base she probably isn’t one of the most liked companions for me she is my favourite. How can I not love the living soul of the Master Sword. While Skyward Sword isn’t my favourite in the series it does hold a very very special place in my heart because it’s the one where Fi and Link talked…. God I am such a sucker for stuff like that… I know it’s not true but my own personal head cannon is that every Link is the same soul reborn each time the cycle repeats and that Fi recognizes her Master each time… any you stumbled on one of those things that strums my soul as if it were a musical instrument and long story short I would quite enjoy a look at the world of Hyrule through your eyes.
Okay, so first of all... Your " I know it’s not true but my own personal head cannon is that every Link is the same soul reborn each time the cycle repeats and that Fi recognizes her Master each time"... That is LITERALLY cannon. If you remember, at the end of Skyward sword, Demise curses Link and Zelda, locking them in a cycle of reincarnation with him. Gannon is literally Demise reborn. Link and Zelda are ALWAYS the same Link and Zelda and Fi ABSOLUTELY recognizes him every time. That's actually the kind of thing I WANT to include. Fi deserves closure. Demise needs to be acknowledged as Demise apart from Gannon. There are so many things that need to be acknowledged and accepted that are mentioned in one game, then just... forgotten. Now, there are some games (four swords, spirit tracks, etc) that it is REALLY hard to include without turning into a loony-tunes story. But I think it should be a culmination of everything we know and have learned about the story.
Honestly, I'd love to see you do some writing outside of the Harem genre. You've got a good style. If fanfic is a good way to do that, great.
I didn't actually mean to write nothing but harem stories... It just sort of happened. I will be writing some that aren't and I think while Link will probably have flings, he'll end up more or less monogamous. So that's definitely one more monogamous story. I know some of my stories will still be more 'harem' since unless I'm putting my actual morals and values into my stories, and I don't want to preach, there isn't a lot of reason for monogamy. If you have a high value male MC, and no moral obligation for monogamy, then polygamy makes a lot of sense. I will have some stories that are erotic couplings with monogamous relationships.
I read your post and casted my vote without any knowledge about the Legend of Zelda universe. Still I would be curious about your take on this topic.
I appreciate that. My plan is to make sure the stories contains all the information you need to enjoy it, and might even teach lore to longtime fans. It isn't going to assume you know anything about any of the previous entries in any of the series I make fanfics of.
Fan fiction in a universe is fine. Fan fiction as in you take control of characters is lame. It's never done correctly always makes the author feel unoriginal. I never read them.
What's happening with eroflu or the ama universe for example. Touching other people's works is always meh.
I'm just hoping you keep going on " A Heros Rebirth". Fucking great story.
Working on Chapter 9 right now. Currently 108 pages and 31,560 words into the chapter.
