Introducing the Assetto Corsa Car Material Editor v2.0 - Our first App

Our purpose has always been clear. We aim to give the Assetto Corsa community the best graphics possible by pushing the limits of what truly makes a difference. That’s why we decided to release our own app, created in association with Russozl.

Tweaking materials was always something that baffled us, why no one was doing it, when it directly impacts the game’s actual visuals. We started by creating our own custom material configs, fine-tuning every single parameter to accurately represent how lighting behaves in the real world. By using a lot of AI and real-world references, we were able to push the results pretty far.

Since the process wasn’t straightforward and often confused users, we thought of how to make it easier for anyone to achieve high quality materials. That’s where the app idea came from.

This version of the app is a big step up from the previous v1.0 release and introduces major reworks and fixes that contribute to a better overall experience. Below is what’s been fixed and changed.

Critical Fixes

• Supports multiple properties in the same section.

• Handles all shader properties (ksAmbient, ksDiffuse, ksSpecular, fresnelMaxLevel, etc.)

• Save functionality completely rewritten.

• Preserves comments and formatting.

• Preserves line positions in file.

New Features

• Debug Window - New diagnostic tool with:

  • Real-time view of current file path

  • Total sections count

  • Current section properties

  • Raw lines from original file

  • Auto-refresh every 1 second (toggleable)

• Automatic Backup - Creates .backup file before every save operation.

Improvements

• Much better optimization

• Better error handling - More informative error messages

• Real-time property updates - Values update as you type
