As someone who only watches you Death Note series (cause I haven’t watched VS by myself yet), it’s kind of a pity having to wait longer, but it’s best if you’ll get the best watching experience! I just hope you won’t mentally get out of the story of Death Note too much meanwhile! Happy watching!
The idea of finishing the first season of *Vinland Saga*, then watching *Death Note*, and then returning to *Vinland Saga* is absolutely brilliant. Do you remember the shift that occurred between the third and fourth seasons of *Attack on Titan*? The same thing happens in *Vinland Saga* between the first and second seasons—it’s a completely radical change
Respect you a lot dude, didnt mean any harm with the comment saying for a more consistent schedule. Appreciate the stuff you do!
It may be hard to remember since it was literally episode 1, but as he’s fighting, a man clings onto him and calls out for his mother (I think), and that’s seemingly his turning point in my opinion. Also, when Helga was born, he said something like, “That’s when I started to fear battle.” Interestingly, you never, ever see him enjoy battle as he’s always stoic, so I think it’s that he came to the realisation that he never ever enjoyed it. He says something along the lines of “I just began to hate it all” earlier on in the season and when he wakes up from his little vinland day dream he realised he enjoys being with his family, away from battle.
i just noticed that at 12:17 (in this video) Thors says "Somehere but not here" in response to Thorkell asking him where he'll go which is the title of episode 1 .
i dont think Thorkell's feelings towards thors are all that unique. I see it as the same as two of the worlds best boxers or chess players being best friends and one of them quitting and running off suddenly before the other got a chance to beat them. It just to happens in this context 'beating' them is killing the other and risking death yourself but since they believed everyone dies anyway and dying in glorious battle is the desirable way to go out it wasn't a big deal. But this story is of this weird Viking who realised it actually WAS a big deal and that maybe everyone else had gotten it all wrong.
Oop looks like the video cuts off a bit early I think Thors’ epiphany was simply becoming a father Also Maldon was mentioned this episode, that was a real battle in Maldon Essex where the famous salt is from, there’s a statue there of a warrior who fought off the Viking invasion that Thorkell was shown fighting in
Bloody hell… still exhausted clearly…. Just uploading that ending now!
Finishing S1 of VS before Death Note, and then doing S2 after is a great idea imo. I'll miss the back and forth a little, but I think you'll have a better viewing experience if you do it that way.
It's goooood to be back
