thorfinn is about 16/17, he's just not that big due to malnutrition.
No too sure if I am the only one to say that if you have fans paying for your content I think its only fair to have a somewhat decent schedule and if not just post it for free on youtube. I know you live a busy life and wont bash you but this is getting way too inconsistent
to be fair its just because the london film festivals been happening, i really don’t expect patreon to be a priority for him atm
Thorfinn's pretty small. I wonder whether him being malnourished for a while affected him at this point? Especially compared to Ylva
Yeah I never really agreed with the priests speech either but I don't think you're supposed or have to agree that's just his pov
Who did Jesus "Love" that is the question of this story, and show. To embody love you have to "love" (in the way that gods love is (Agape)) your enemy and friends alike, the world that god made is full of love, the snow wind and sun will affect evil and good men alike, but humans do not. That is the love that the priest is looking for, the love Thors shoved and Canute atleast understands
Man you can really tell he just isn't that into Death Note anymore lol. 5 Vinland saga reactions to 1 Death Note on the last 6 videos
Yeah this is why I suggested just sticking to 1 anime once he finishes Death Note (or maybe he'll even finish Vinland Saga first lol). Kinda unfair to Death Note to be going side by side against a show of this quality tbh
I think the finer points on Canute and The Priest's conversation are a bit hidden within some esoteric arguments about Genesis and 'original sin' and 'love' that were commonplace in this time period. In the same way that Vikings had to distort their ideas of afterlife around the growing culture of war, Christianity was shifting, what 'love' had once described in scripture was being politicised and used to promote certain ways of life, particularly around serfdom and the idea of ruling your life through family and the labour you share. This demanded that 'love' become something more general and easy to understand, where the biblical definition has very clearly been more in reference to enlightenment. To know God's love and to be with him completely is, simply put, to die and pass on; this is what the Rapture and the waiting game was about, waiting for God to put us to judgement. But the specific argument here seems to posit that, after Genesis, the world essentially became hell (to be without God), and that the only way to reach God is through death. It's hard to fully invest in like Canute is. But I like how this paints him. His scripture taught him to search love with Ragnar as his family, and turn away from the war his father invested in and seek escape. In reality, God has already taken his love away and so had his father, the world had become an awful game of learning how to win both of his fathers love back, when he could not win either and Ragnar died for it. Edit: changed some bits that were a bit generalising after finishing the video and seeing where it landed for you.
Beautiful response
I do believe the center of gravity of the manga is almost identical to that of the anime. While it's true that the manga is slightly different, the only major change is that we see the events of ep 7 and 8 before ep 1.
Thorfinn doesn't feel as much of a side character in the manga, since in the manga we immediately start with teenager Thorfinn and Askeladd. Which means we are given information about Thorfinn's past via flashbacks throughout. But the anime went in a chronological order so we don't get to have 'new' information about Thorfinn which does lead to him being sidelined a bit. Personally I prefer the manga for the first season and the anime for the second season, they have their own strengths
This is the least thing i liked about s1, just didnt make sense to me this prince change, maybe if it took more time but in one episode was a bit too much.
I think the idea is that the prince has always been this principled and proud, but he just didn't have a position within the vikings or anything to offer as a king. This revalation however gave him an immediate platform for his thinking, and a direct motive with Ragnars death wherein he wants to prevent the senselessness of their wars.
