Vinland Saga S01E14 - The Light of Dawn

I interpreted the priest’s reaction to the story about Thors as him thinking Thors must’ve been some kind of saint, messiah or even Jesus, what with Thors’ crazy strength and philosophy of pacifism and non-violence. I think reminding us of how committed to not hurting others Thors was this episode is there to contrast with how casual askelaad and his gang are about violence.
Not sure if its been mentioned but I think they are back in England here hence them speaking in English.
Mercia is England! It’s like the midlands.
fun fact: Askeladd's voice actor, Naoya Uchida, also voices Soichiro Yagami, Light's dad in Death Note.
episodes like these are part of what solidifies Vinland Saga as one of my favorite shows of all time. Barely anything happens, yet it's so powerful that it almost brings me to tears every time I watch it. I have been debating whether I should start reading Vinland Saga for almost 2 years now, but I just can't imagine the story without it's beautiful OST and colorful visuals. Forever thankful for the fact that they've kept almost the entire creative team for VS, even though they swapped animation studios for S2.
Your release schedule is already so good, even full time react channels will struggle to release every day. (IMO) Please don't feel pressured to post when you are super busy and just enjoy the journey of the show!
This! Although I selfishly want episodes as often as possible, we're being absolutely spoiled by the current release schedule, so definitely can't complain when the odd day or 2 are missed
Would love to get a more in depth response to this episode on tiktok if you have more to say when you have a bit more time
Yeah I think I want to say a lot about it. I’ll return to this episode for sure and record some thoughts
Been waiting for this one.
So excited for the development of Askelad I think this is the first episode where we really start to see a more complex view on the violence enacted in war, so I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on how that is expanded upon as well. The story especially as it gets into season 2 is so powerful
