I uncovered notes from film class project years ago, we had to pick movies to represent the culture of the time, one for societal culture and one for teen culture for every decade from 1950. Figure I would share since you're getting pretty close to being fully caught up on the Supes movies, maybe you'll find something that interests you😁 1950s: Rebel Without a Cause (SC) / Highschool Confidential! (SC) 1960s: The Graduate (SC) / American Graffiti (TC) 1970s: Dog Day Afternoon (SC) / Dazed and Confused (TC) 1980s: Wall Street (SC) / Fast Times at Ridgemont High & The Breakfast Club (TC 1st/2nd Half) 1990s: Office Space (SC) / Reality Bites & Can't Hardly Wait (TC 1st/2nd Half) 2000s: The Social Network (SC) / Super Bad (TC)

The integration of this entire series is chaotic and yet it balances itself by self adjusting certain aspects of the more complex histories. Days of Future Past pretty much reset/changed X1 X2 X3 and it officially resets/starts with First Class, the only thing about the original trilogy that is kept is how sometimes the OG actors look in cameos or flashbacks and any history is only used as a slight reference and not actual canon. Characters and stories in this movie Apocalypse are setting up the progression of the new canon storyline. One good line I like to reference is the one that Hank used in Days of Future Past, where he talked about a theory “Time is immutable, its like a river; you can throw a pebble into it and create a ripple, but the current always corrects itself, no matter what you do, the river just keeps flowing in the same direction” which is such a vital line for these timelines. Dammit I’m nerding out. Anywho I don’t want to spoil anything. Thank you again for having committed so much time to this insane amount of content from this genre.

The end credits, you wont see that again until you watch Logan and The New Mutants.

X-Men was owned by FOX at the time, so they had to make a different story if they wanted to use Wanda and Peter.

Yes watch at least the first two Indiana Jones! Two great Jenifer Lawrence movies are silver linings playbook and the first hunger games. Even though this isn’t my favorite X-Men movie you made it fun thanks, Eralia!

BENDER9000 · October 22, 2026

yes, you should absolutely watch Indiana Jones. ALL of them.

Wow, that one was actually really good!! Why on earth would you skip THIS one? Even ignoring the great scenes and character developments, this has the most cohesive on-brand theme of ANY of their other films -- It opens with the premise: "A gift can often be a curse; Gift them wings and they may fly too close to the sun, gift them prophecy and they may live in fear of the future, gift them the greatest power of all and they may think THEY ARE MEANT TO RULE" Which is thematically undercut by Charles, considered by Apocalypse to have the greatest power, and yet it is the furthest thing from his mind on what such power is for, as he delivers what is essentially his whole thesis on the struggles surrounding the x-men franchise: "Those with the greatest power, protect those without" imo this was the best X-Men movie so far and it isn't even close

Hey E! It seems fitting that you're watching this chapter of the X-Verse during Spooky Month cause rather than Indiana Jones, I'd personally recommend The Mummy Franchise with Brendan Fraser cause I can see you grooving with those just as well (if not better). If you're also looking for Jennifer Lawrence recs, I'd say The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook, or American Hustle (also with Christian Bale if you're still searching for those type of recs as well). Anyways, keep up the banger work both "on here" as well as "over there" and here's to your inevitable react to Logan/Dark Phoenix down the line... bring tissues! 💔😭😅 Fun fact: The woman Stan Lee was holding onto was actually his real life wife, Joan Lee. 🤓❤️💚

seeing these makes me want to see you watch Unbreakable, Split, and Glass idk if im alone on that but could be a great 3 movie series to sprinkle in.

SquaredSpekz · October 22, 2026

"We know she survives because we saw her in the new ones, this is the 80s" That's not how this works. This is not a prequel to the original films set in the "near future" These films are just retconning themselves, it's not really one coherent timeline across decades in universe.

This movie was a departure from the character driven storyline and depended on CGI which caused it to flop at the box office. Between it and Logan which broke many of the fan base they almost caused Marvel to go out of business until the first Deadpool came out and saved the studio... Glad you didn't watch these first. The next in line for the X-Men are 1) Logan, then 2) Deadpool 2' 3) Dark Phoenix, 4) The New Mutants and the first in the MCU of the X-Men is 5) Deadpool and Wolverine...

Yes 1000% Yes to Indiana Jones! Least the first 4, the 5th one is just ok in comparison to the others. And the first 3 are 80s action!

-------what were you doing 10 years ago in 2016? Burning out after a year at FedEx smartpost sorting. The hours were wonky and they hired a snot of a boss. Feeling strong is almost as good as feeling smart, and it's way easier (as a lady anyway) Scott was a disruption by talking when she's talking. they never clock the originators smh I love Psylocke sooooo much! She was reborn to be a Logan-killer before Apocalypse ever made her a horseman-level badass Charles messes with Jean's memories between movies to hold back the phoenix, a la Last Stand Dark Phoenix has fun bits that shine, Logan is amazing enough that I watched it in black & white too, New Mutants too please please cherry on top? <3 Illyana the old cartoon X-Men show is pretty close to the comics and the continuation X-Men '97 is fan-goddamn-tastic

My wife died in 2016 and so I missed out on the movies but watched them later on.

Definitely watch Indiana Jones!

Lizard Ahaz · October 21, 2026

Next up is Logan in this series and the tears are going to pour down.... As for Indiana Jones those movies are set around WW2 and while the action is good the historical archeology is for the most part kind of ridiculous. For entertainment it is fine but don't let it change thinking or you might require a visit to a deprogramming clinic. Just suspend disbelief and enjoy the action and plot far too many people took it seriously though one thing about it is accurate... Archaeologists of that time period were often government and wealthy "collector" sponsored looters.

T
Troy · October 21, 2026

eralia: "Where were you in 2016?" Me: "Um." [has a Severance**-like gap where 2016 should be] *in Gandalf voice* "I have no memory of this place..." Anyway, this brings us one movie closer to "Logan," so YAY! (** - This is not a spoiler, as I've not yet seen Severance and am just conjecturng. Unless I have seen it and just don't remember.)

T
Troy · October 21, 2026

Also, the first three Indiana Jones are definitely worth watching (Raiders and Last Crusade in particular. YMMV w/ Temple of Doom.) They might suffer from the whole "forty years of movies since have had them as reference material" thing that older movies sometimes have a disadvantage with, novelty-wise. But they are, in my humble GenX opinion, at LEAST as worth watching as the X-Men prequel trilogy.

S
Sean Dame · October 21, 2026

Yes, in some storylines both Wanda and Pietro are the children of Magneto. Not in the MCU. Marvel can be confusing with so many parallel timelines/universes. But it's good for the storytellers, allowing them a lot of creative freedom to go their own ways.

Don't watch Dark Phoenix, seriously.

I remembered the blue man group differentley I see a pattern rising: Ultron sees internet, decides to destroy humanity Apocolyps sees TV, decides to destroy humanity Erik is actually the one villain, you totally get, why he's doing the unkind deeds. In 2016 I just messed up uni and started a job apprenticeship. I was so hyped by the trailer music Snow Ghosts - The Hunted (Apocalypse Version) and really wanted to go watch it in cinema, but was too busy sadley

BerzerkFreak97 · October 21, 2026

Damn, you might be ready for Avengers: Doomsday by the time it gets released. This is quite the super-hero journey you've been on this last year.

Nic Benham · October 21, 2026

Ahh yes the worst Xmen (possibly comic book) movie of all time. But it’s Eralia so I’ll watch again 😆

Jean Grey agrees with you here at 1:04:45 LOL "Can we agree that the third is always the worst." Talking about Return of the Jedi, but are they really talking about that third movie? ;-)
