Eternals Watch-Along

So Eternals,… I’m sorry to say this was the first Marvel movie ever to make nearly fall asleep in theaters. And while rewatching it with you was still fun, it only solidified for me that this movie is not my cup of tea. I agree with some other fans this project would’ve been better suited for a streaming series rather than a movie. I believe Marvel was riding off the high of Avengers: Endgame and believed they could do no wrong and fans would embrace this new group of heroes like Guardians of the Galaxy or X-Men. Sadly, that was not the case and now it seems we may never get another Eternals project. What makes this movie even more of a tragedy was it was supposed to be a lead up to “Blade”, another project fans were extremely excited for, but because of continuous creative differences and directors bowing in and out, the movie was just announced last month (Eternals released in 2021 btw, just to give you an idea of how long of time gap there was) that it was no longer happening. Many of the actors at first were extremely excited to be attached to this project as the studio convinced them there would be more projects to come after this, but poor reception to the film brought it to a grinding halt. It is not Marvel’s weakest story, it’s just simply they put so much into this movie only for it to barely stay on the minds of fans of the MCU. I love your reactions so much, but isnt their a way to show the movie here? Most reactors are able to show the whole movie whether it be off a 3rd party site or something. So that way you can pause and talk cause during loud moments I cant hear literally anything your saying. But you cant pause it cause were supposed to line up our movie lol I get it its just not convenient

Hey, Eralia. I noticed that this reaction video, even though the video is blurred, unlike your other videos the audio plays for the whole movie. It makes it harder to sync with my own copy, and when I do the audio is coming from both my tv and my laptop. Also Happy Belated Birthday 🎂

There were originally plans for The Eternals to return, but due to the absolutely poor reception the movie got, Marvel has decided to focus on other characters. This movie is still canon, and the events are mentioned in other projects (more rarely than you would think), but we will likely not be seeing the Eternals again, at least not anytime soon. As for KIt Harrington's character, he has expressed an interest in returning and it's been discussed and suggested he could return in connection with Blade or Avengers (since he is attached to both comic lines at one point or another). Much stronger chance of that happening. As usually, great reaction. I really enjoy that you have views on things that are sometimes quite different than mine and it gives me a chance to look at things from another angle I wouldn't have considered, otherwise. That's a cool thing because these are all rewatches for me and to be able to catch some nuance that I didn't see or think of because it needed a different mindset not only makes the movie kind of fresh again, it gives me a greater understanding of people and a broader, more flexible model to work from. So, thanks. I know that sounds kind of AI or whatever, it's really just my AuDHD.

At this point, unfortunately, it is not clear that the Eternals will return. The movie underperformed at the box office and was not especially well-received. I loved it, for the record, but I'm in the minority. The cast is full of big actors, so if they don't make Eternals 2, it's hard to imagine bringing them back for bit parts in other movies. Maybe eventually. They also introduced a bunch of new characters in the post-credit scenes, and I'm not at all confident they will be back. The MCU already has a ton of characters, and they're going to be introducing a lot more with the X-Men pretty soon, so I wouldn't bet much on any of these characters returning. That's too bad, because I think some of them are interesting.

PLS Dont skip Hawkeye TV show. Its gonna connect a few things like black widow movie ending and thunderbolts movie. Also just on its own ı think its an amazing show watched it twice my self

Not sure if it was intended, but the audio from the movie is audible through out the watch along. It's had to watch the movie in this format. I had to mute my tv.

Never saw this one before This movie has a lot of interesting concepts but it really doesn't feel well thought out. I don't understand what the point, or themes, were. Things just happened to them, and they reacted, and things worked out... but what was the greater narrative theme? Who grew? Who was redeemed? What beliefs were challenged and resolved? The point of stories is to examine in drama what we struggle with in the mundane. Cap' does more with the single line "We don't trade lives" than this entire movie does dancing around but never addressing what value lives in the future are compared to lives in the present, about sacrifice and choice. Cersei's power made me think they were going to birth the Celestial via a caesarian (to show there was a better way), or transform him into a tree like the deviant to create Yggdrasil where the Celestial can exist in parallel with the world an dpeople (to show there was a DIFFERENT way). But to just kill the Celestial? It undercuts the theme that Celestials must exist for life to exist. I don't get this at all

I liked the movie and your reaction. Lot of hate somehow (I don't know the comics etc., just the movies and series and some games) I believe it would have impacted the MCU way more, since it highlights the whole creation process inside the MCU with divine forces and scrutiny. Actually really love the Eternals and John Snow knowing nothing about dating a superpowered being. The plan was for druig to put Tiamut to sleep, Sersi however turned them into marble killing the celestial. So Eternals are basically superpowered Cylons confirmed. And Celestials are consuming the souls of an entire civilized planet to be born. AFAIK that's one of Thanos's goals, by halving the population preventing the emergence.

Pls. Watch hawkeye series. It will close in full the barton and natasha story and introduce you eventualky to the young avengers and best about it is that florence pugh is in that series :)

Eralia - absolutely love your reactions, as evidenced by being extremely disappointed by this movie when it came out and still watching again to continue your MCU journey. I noticed on this particular video that the audio is consistently active on your video for a full watch along, which is distracting even when they are 100% aligned. I'm grateful that you (or whoever edits) include the audio intermittently to sync up. Just observing that in this case it's the vast majority of the movie, so would suggest reducing that. Most of all grateful for the reaction!

He is the Black Knight right? I just rem him from a comic about the Midnight Suns or was it Cpt. Britain? I just rem this movie was confusing and had no idea that the voice at the last credit was BLADE, I really hope you decide to watch it, it was really the first MCU project.

And the second post credit the mystery voice was blade who has not been introduced yet but there was 3 blade movies way back which is the reason we even have the MCU at all

Happy Birthday to our special lady the princess Eralia is the first thing and second keep in mind that the Eternals is a bit confusing on purpose. Marvel is not confirming but has hinted that the ten rings may have come from either an Eternal or Thanos so watch for hints coming soon in the MCU.... kind of like an old Sherlock Holmes story isn't it?....

Ooh, this is going to be my first first-time watchalong for myself with you! (I think I saw the first 10-15 minutes before, I'm not sure. I kept meaning to go back, now I have a good reason!)

I more liked the potential of these characters rather than this movie about them. But I would still not go as far as to say this movie was not worth watching 😕 Happy Birthday as well ❤️

For the non comic readers, Thanos is an Eternal. He’s a Titan Eternal. He wasn’t created, he was born. But he was born with a Deviant gene which is why he’s purple and has a ballsack chin 😂 Also, Dane Whitman is….. without any spoilers he’s similar to Moon Knight in that he’s got a huge cult following amongst comic readers. We very much look forward to times when they show up. Such unbelievably well written characters As for Eros. Absolute legend. The purest embodiment of chaotic very good. He’s far stronger than Thanos on any normal day. But fighting is the furthest thing from his mind. Unless he has to

As someone who’s a fan of the Eternals, I’d just like to mention that 1. Arishom is a liar. No one should ever trust what he’s selling. 2. Tiamut is the warrior poet of their kind. He’s unmatched in strength and ability but he prefers kindness and philosophy. He also LOVES sleep. His nickname is the dreaming celestial. Guess where he LOVES to nap. In the Pacific Ocean on earth……. See what I’m getting at here folks? Draw your own conclusions

Thanks for releasing so much content lately. I've spent the last couple weeks recovering from surgery & it's been nice to have some marvel movies that I can pretend to watch with you while I was stuck in bed.

First off HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!🎊🎁🎉 Secondly, I think you’ll love the Eternals. They’re deeply rooted in philosophy. Marvel wanted to really tap into the philosophical thinkers in this phase. The theme will continue in Loki season 2

Ok story, but definitely one of my least fave mcu movies.

This is a weird phase in the mcu where the studios were definitely being told to produce quantity over quality. It felt like they were trying to do alot but at the same time they weren't sure what they wanted to do with the eternals . And now behind the scenes now that Disney owns the right to xmen it does seem like the mcu is stepping away from the eternals all together to focus on a new generation of X-Men. This was an ambitious film but it felt like the first real miss from marvel to me. P.S happy birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉

Damn, still waiting on that end cred payoff. I think it was this and Ant-Man Quantumania that got the biggest backlash at time of release. Probably it was mostly just a consequence of when it came out and Disney strategy at the time, they released like 9 things that year, just too much. Hope you enjoy!
