Wondering what kind of tires you had on your new car...? I live in Norway where we switch from summer tires to winter tires in the fall and back again in the spring.
I appreciate the human perspective that you shared and I love the talk of Maslow. I mention that all the time with my kids.
Very happy seeing you positive and happy! :) Very glad that everything's moved successfully and that you're in your new place with your cat fam.
Really glad to hear you (and the kitties) are okay — that sounds like such a stressful move, especially with everything piled on top of it. Take all the time you need to get settled. Just happy knowing you’re safe, and genuinely grateful you wanted to check in with us. Looking forward to being back on the ride with you whenever you’re ready
Eralia, I want to say your personal post doesn't have to have a theme. I know we're not childhood friends but we can be friendly here. If you want to post/talk about your day. Go at it, but like you said, keep it positive. You can't rant about people at work, even if you want/need to, you don't know whose listening and there is no reason to pick a fight. You want to bitch about anything else, I say do it. It's healthy. They say people who curse daily tend to live longer. I'm sure that works for those of us you rant. Even over minor things. The reason I wanted to post was your closing. I wouldn't say it's the confidence we need. At least not for most. I think responsibility keeps most of us focused. We all have responsibilities to function as humans. There are tons of people who can't or won't keep up with their basic responsibilities. Just ride mass transit in any major city and you'll find people skipping their responsibility to take a morning shower. Many of us are just trying to keep the lights on. A roof over our head. For those with families, they are just trying to give their kids a day without fear. A few meals on the table and some memories that will have them thinking of you when you're gone. Being responsible for yourself shows confidence. That doesn't mean you have to be on the ball all the time. You can be responsible and still kill every plant in your house. You can be responsible and get into a fender-bender once in a blue moon. The thing is... If you act responsibly, people in your life want you around. Just in case. I'd rather have one responsible friend over ten confident ones. PS So which coast did you move to? North East or West?
How do you stay sane while knowing so many strangers rely on hearing from you with expectations that cannot be met even though you try your best.
i just do my best! it's all we can do :) also when i feel overwhelmed i like to think about how nice it is to have so many people who want to see my content/care, and i try to imagine that it isn't necessarily coming from a place of entitlement! i always try to assume the best from people unless they prove me wrong; it's much nicer that way.
Welcome Back! Glad you're safe and getting settled! Looking forward to more of your wonderful content when the time is right!
You did it Eralia. I understand exactly what you're feeling right now. You kept on it and here you are. You did it.
Your positivity and uplifting spirit is contagious! I’m usually a realist and half cup empty attitude but I’m trying to change the mindset everyday and since joining this channel I find im becoming a half glass full mentality and it’s a good feeling! I’m glad you’re doing good in this stage of life. Thank you and take care Eralia!
A few very good movies to raise your mood are The Princess Bride, The Incredibles, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I'm glad to know you're okay.
Going through a PCS alone is never fun, but like you say: it's all about forward momentum. Rocky put it best: It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep movin' forward. Glad you made it to your end goal, are setting up in the (radically different) space, and get to start spending your free time with us again. Looks like there are a few of us vets here, so if you ever want to spitball post-service possibilities, I think we'd all be more than happy to share our perspectives.
I spent 19 years at the same assignment, I'm glad you're able to diversify your career, it's one of my many regrets.
In your situation, all of the moving around can still be a fun/interesting thing, I suppose. I was a military dependent (father was an Air Force technical instructor) and we got moved a lot, too. But, attending 10 different schools between first grade and graduating from high school was NOT awesome. :)
spider-man ps4 is an awesome game
Ooo! Maslow's hierarchy of needs! Nice reference. (me: cognitive psych/science background)
Ah the PCS move... or as we called it in the Navy/Marine Corps: the seabag drag 😂
People need to ponder more. Not enough pondering nowadays. Also, I'm glad that despite the catastrophic drive, that it all ultimately worked out. You are a genuine and positive person, and we're lucky to be a part of your journey, which sounds cliche' maybe, but whatever!
Ok I accidently started in the middle somewhere and literally the first thing I got was: "If you don't know what a period is Google it!!" 😤 ....this is gonna be a fun update. lmao
Silassssss
Do you move every 2-4 years or assignment dependent?
