"patiently" waiting for spider man !!! so excited

This is one of those movies that hit me like a ton of bricks when it first came out. At the time, I was still fairly newly a stepfather to a wonderful kid whose dad... well, he may have been her father, but he wasn't her daddy. I never expected to feel Yondu's arc as hard as I did in this movie, but... There you have it. Even if the years since didn't go as well as I had hoped they would be for our family, that doesn't take away from it all. Hell, Yondu admits that he didn't do a great job either, himself. Ah well. I'm definitely looking forward to what's coming next... should be Spider-Man Homecoming, and then Thor: Ragnarok... and... man, we're really racing on to the Endgame. Just keep in mind that the post-Endgame Disney+ shows _are_ where the story continues in the immediate aftermath... and don't let anyone talk them down. They are great. You could probably do a couple episodes at a time, if you wanted ;)

There IS a Guardians of the Galaxy game released in 2021, which is one of the better video games Marvel has put out! Won an award too iirc. Definitely worth a try if you find some time!

I love the Guardians movies, they have so much great music, comedy and they can bring the emotion. James Gunn does great with these movies, he also did make the most recent Superman. I also recommend his Suicide Squad movie, of course I guess you might want to watch the first Suicide Squad as well since it continues some characters from that one. I also recommend Slither and he was a writer on the live action Scooby Doo movies, which I've always liked.

Yay, here we go! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — I was so excited to watch this one with you. Let’s go! You’re honestly not wrong about how hard it is to choose between the solo movies and the big team-ups. They’re all great in different ways, but I think I lean toward the collabs. That first Avengers movie, after getting to know everyone individually, was just so damn iconic. And the later Avengers films? Absolute peak. They bring everything together in such a phenomenal way that it’s really hard to beat, even with how strong the individual movies are. Every Marvel movie has its own unique score, but the Guardians soundtracks are on another level entirely. Swapping epic operatic themes for classic songs shouldn’t work as well as it does — but somehow it works so. damn. well. This movie is also way more emotional than people often remember. Knowing what’s still to come in the Guardians story makes certain moments hit even harder. Drax talking about his daughter and Mantis feeling that pain, or Yondu’s speech to Rocket — “I know who you are, boy, ‘cause you’re me” — god, that moment is so good, and so perfectly delivered. And the ending… yeah. That whole final stretch is just packed with character growth and discovery. The funeral, the quiet moments, and then the Ravagers showing up — I’m not ashamed to say I was sitting there absolutely weeping. Guardians 3 is still a way off, but it’s my favourite of the trilogy. Absolute banger: powerful emotions, genuine growth, and comedy woven through it all in classic Guardians style. Next up: Spider-Man: Homecoming (although, it seems you might be going back to the older Spidey's first which is great), and we’re getting closer and closer to everything falling into place. I can’t wait for the next watch — whether it’s more Marvel or the last two Harry Potters, I’m here… and I am perched.

The very whimsical aspect of the Guardians movie makes me feel almost like it's a story being told by some friends while they're listening to some banging tunes and downing some beers. It has the fantastical, the jokes, the girl, the songs... It's so good.

Every time I hear Father and son or watch this movie, it reminds me when in 2018 I had to let my very first cat Loui “go home”. And just a few weeks ago, my cat Stu’s time came. It’s been a rough 3 weeks. This movie hits the feelings. Love the reaction as always.

I am always, always a total mess watching this film. By the time this came out, I was already well into my own journey of unpacking my childhood, etc, so what hit me most profoundly with this one was that it not only focused in on the trauma, but also, the healing. I. Love. This. Movie.
