Waste of 5$
9 min mark and NOTHING On screen...????? So much for watch along....... SMH
Let's just say I hope to discover one day that you have a Letterboxd account ❤️🤓😅
How'd I miss this one?! I need to queue this up ASAP. Edit: Awesome reaction! Also, ignore the people on YT saying you should watch the whole series. This one is the best, and the others are just echoes of it.
"You asked if you could but never stopped to consider if you should" The source material had more to say beyond 'Dinosaurs run amok!' and the film is elevated for it. It's the kind of story deserving of the bajillions of dollaridoos it took to make this possible in ye olde 1990's
Great reaction as always! I like that you are seeing both sides of the characters (Hammond wants to show the wonder of the park, but loses track of some essential safety precautions, but his heart was in the right place...)
I remember watching this movie with my family in the theater. My late mom was sitting beside me, watching it very seriously — without making any sound or screaming. When I asked her, ‘Why didn’t you react at all?’ she simply replied, ‘I was just wondering why they made all those scenes.’ :D
yes, Richard Attenborough played Mr Hammond, brother to David Attenborough who pretty much is THE narrator for any wildlife/animal show & documentary ever the past 70 years. This movie came out just as the theories about birds being relatives/dinosaurs got better evidence. These days we know birds are avian dinosaurs, just as much dinosaur as a T-Rex & Velociraptor. Majority of the theropods had feathers/proto-feathers (early version of feathers, like fur). They found fossiles of Microraptors in such good condition in China we can get the color of the feathers (black with a blue shine in the sun, like a raven) from ~120 million years ago. If we want to create something that looks like a raptor, the way to do it would be to modify genes in a chicken or other living bird to create a "Chickenosaurus", aka reverse engineering. There has already been chicken embryos where they enabled the genes for teeth, snout and tail. But ethical reasons is a big thing in cases like this and the projects has been standing still for 10+ years. DNA just don't survive for more than a million years even in the best condition sadly.
The scary thing is the way ethics are being taught in universities right now. Without naming names, the course I last took introduced the various historical forms and repeatedly challenged the students to take a position and select one of the various forms to defend the morality of their position; Rather than to use their ethics to inform their position, they were taught to select their preferred conclusion first and construct a convenient justification after. And it felt deliberate.
Eralia, that was the most entertaining reaction to this film I’ve seen! So much fun to rewatch this with you. Hope your deployment is going well and look forward to the next reaction! Also, thanks for the visual sync cue at the beginning. Really helpful! If it’s possible, keeping a blurred visual for the remaining film or at least every now and then can be a very useful thing to help when you may be watching alternate versions of films or if the playback speed is slightly off (which can happen depending on the streaming choice vs physical media). Keep up the great work! 🙂
Idk if anyone agrees; but I sometimes like to watch the reactions by themselves.
I swear Eralia owes 90% of the success to this channel to her eyebrows, what magnificent arches 😆 Interesting points about the movie: 1) The Idea that the T-Rex' vision depends on movement is based on long outdated research. 2) Since the movie was released it has been criticized because velociraptors were actually the size of a chicken. But in 2019 they discovered a new raptor species, Joaquinraptor casali, that weighed over a ton and was likely 23 feet long. I guess the movie was vindicated in a sense. The first discovered skeleton of this species had the arm of an extinct species of crocodile in its jaws. 3) Geneticists have tested the viability of DNA preservation in amber. They found that amber is actually porous and DNA does not preserve well in amber. The oldest DNA sequenced is from a million year old mammoth tooth and two million year old sediments from Greenland. All non-avian dinosaurs are over 65 million years old. "It's not a rhetorical question." Well if you insist...In the last several decades, continued digging has allowed paleontologists to discover the evolution of the feather (it initially evolved for thermoregulation and not flying), fossilized proteins that hint at the pigments of dinosaur's skin, stomach contents at time of death, social organization i.e. "they do travel in herds" etc. etc. I'm more familiar with paleoanthropology and it is a great demonstration of why we still dig. Around the year 2000 a prominent paleoanthropologist stated that everything there was to be found has been found and the future of the field is in using evolving technology to reanalyze everything already discovered. Needless to say he was wrong. Since 2000 paleoanthropologists discovered the 70k year old Homo floresiensis, i.e. the hobbits on the island of Flores, the 60k year old Homo luzonensis (a second hobbit from the island of Luzon), Homo naledi in South Africa (a strange bipedal creature that seems like it should be 2 million years old but is about 300k years old), Australopithecus sediba (that did live 2 million years ago in South Africa), and countless fossilized footprints around the world like the 23k year old footprints in White Sands New Mexico that push back the known peopling of the Americas by at least 8,000 years. I'll shamelessly plug my Substack for anyone interested dawnofsapiens.com
LOL, I just found out that “Adam” from Guardians of the Galaxy is actually known as “The Actor with the Eyebrows”.
On whether we still do archeology: yes. When I left the army and went to college, I told the career counselor I was interested in history and she told me I should look into archeology. She said all the new (at the time) satellites were showing thousands of new potential sites all the time. That was in 1983, so I assume it's still happening.
Graham Hancock is a great source for new archeology. Tons of new stuff.
You're clearly multilingual, and yah you took a tough beat with Hammond being Scottish. But I love accents in any variation and I really love you going for it. Languages are so cool. I hope you go for it as much as you can.
Had a great time rewatching this today with you! Good job on showing the start with the video, made it really easy to sync up. But after about 50 minutes, the video on Patreon froze, so I had to refresh the page and sync again. I remembered you starting the movie about 2:26/27 in, so I could just add that time to the Patreon video to get it synced again with my copy. The video on Patreon froze again after 50 minutes, just before the end so I had to refresh and sync again. It seems that Patreon videos sometimes just stop playing. Maybe you could upload it as an unlisted video on youtube, or to a google drive, dropbox, onedrive.
I've also noticed that lately the Patreon player freezes for no apparent reason. I end up just downloading the video ahead of time.
Eralia, very much enjoyed watching "Jurassic Park" along with your recorded reaction. Steven Spielberg's classic action/sci-fi is a great movie to react to. Thanks also for allowing us to see the intro to the movie. It made it much easier to sync up, especially because my Blu-ray of the movie had additional copyright disclaimers that were shown before the actual movie begins. Without seeing where your copy of the movie begins, I would have been off by more than 10 seconds at the start. Once I was synced with your reaction, it remained in sync for the entire film. Perfect!
How do you download her video?
I don't know if you do recommendations. But Back of the Future has 3 movies and that's in my opinion one of the best trilogy made.
Can you the next time leave a vague image or the sound of the movie? With the Pirate of the Caribbean movie I needed to pause the movie every 10 minutes because my version is quicker. With this movie I don't know where you're in the movie. So I can pause when I get to much ahead.
💯
